Providence Community Acupuncture is a great place to experience acupuncture in a low-cost, communal setting! I had only gotten acupuncture once before coming here, but I've been here a handful of times now and I always leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. I'll describe the experience thoroughly for anyone who might be interested in trying it out but not sure what to expect! It's easiest to make an appointment over the phone, but I suppose you could walk in too! You can chose what you pay from $20-40. When you walk in, you check in and pay at the front desk and either wait in the waiting area or usually head straight back to the treatment area. There are two rooms with lots of reclining chairs, kind of set up like a dialysis clinic. You can pick a chair, make yourself comfortable, and take off your shoes and socks. There is plenty of signage all over the place so it's really easy to figure out what to do. The acupuncturist will come over when they have a free moment. They'll ask you a few questions about what is bothering you (if anything) and then place about 12-15 very thin needles at various locations on your body. You may need to roll up your sleeves and pant legs so I would wear loose clothing--you want to be comfortable anyway! After the needles are placed it's up to you how long you want to hang out. Most people stay around 45 minutes to 1 hour. A lot of people will fall asleep or shut their eyes. There's really no rules (as long as you put your phone away)! When you're all done, you can get the acupuncturist's attention and they'll take the needles out for you. Overall, the atmosphere at PCA is the perfect balance of relaxing and casual yet 100% professional. I just had my second appointment here today and wanted to wait until this appointment in order to review. My first time here I didn't have an appointment and just happened upon the place and walked in. The receptionist is absolutely amazing I was very accommodating. She made me feel so comfortable and not like I was a burden to them by walking in without an appointment. She was funny and knowledgeable and put me right at ease. The paperwork is pretty easy to fill out and before you know it I was seeing my acupuncturist and told her about my problem areas. The initial fee is $10 for new people anywhere from $15 to $35 for the treatment depending on what you can afford.This place is amazing after my first treatment I went three days pain-free. Fast forward to today, the receptionist remembered my name and remembered my issues that goes along way. I had the same acupuncturists I had last time and she was just as pleasant. There's no rush in or out you can stay as long as you like or short as you like as long as it is at least 45 minutes. I fell asleep today and woke up an hour and a half later! I hope I wasn't snoring... LOL! I would not hesitate to recommend this place. read more

I am dealing with extreme pain in my neck muscles at the base of my skull. I began my treatment with two visits a week, for a period of five weeks. Although I am not recovered totally, I have noticed improvement in my pain levels. I love the way I feel when I leave after an acupuncture treatment. All of the employees are kind and caring. The facilities are quiet, peaceful, soothing and clean. This is a clinic, with two large rooms; however, I never felt uncomfortable in this environment. I cannot afford treatment at a private practice, and am grateful for the availability of affordable acupuncture treatments. I highly recommend this facility. read more

I love Providence Community Acupuncture! I was skeptical at first b/c PCA isn't traditional old school Chinese acupuncture. However, since my trusted acupuncture spots in NYC and Chicago are inconvenient to get to, I gave PCA a shot based on comments from an orthopedic surgeon who told me that many of his patients have reported good results from PCA. A session at PCA is very different from the traditional acupuncture I've had in a lot of ways: communal group setting/no privates, EZ-Boy style reclining chairs rather than examination tables, English-speaking, no discussion about yin/yang diet or herbs (at least for me, some product is offered up front), et al. It's a very different experience from the old Masters I've had elsewhere who would make alarming "jokes" like "no pain no gain" in broken English before sticking me with big ass needles (I love you tho Dr. H.!) but at the end of the day, the needles do the talking at PCA, and I've personally had good results. There's also a community health advocacy aspect to PCA since they aim to improve access to high quality healthcare for all and especially to those that may not be able to afford traditional acupuncture. Rates on a sliding scale are from $15-35 after an initial consult and are the lowest rates I have ever seen anywhere. Online booking is available for convenience, private lot and street parking is plentiful. It's a clean, lofty space for a tranquil acupuncture treatment--so tranquil you shouldn't be surprised when your neighbors are so relaxed that they start snoring. Love it, check it out. read more

This place is life-changing. I cannot recommend it enough. Relaxing does not even begin to describe the peace and contentment of visiting PCA. Treat yourself to an appointment during a busy work week. The staff is supremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They greet you by name, and are always aware of your treatment and what you're working on. It's also very easy to make/change an appointment. The online system is very convenient whether you're booking in advance or day of. And, you simply cannot beat the price structure. I joined POCA last year. It was absolutely worth the benefits! I cried uncontrollably and smelled blood. Felt the needle stick was too rough. Could not relax and became extremely cold.

I really enjoy going here. It's a relaxing environment and the acupuncturists are very nice. For me, the jury is still out on whether it works but this place makes it affordable so that you can find out. There are posters inside that make it clear how inclusive they are and they never make you feel judged or stupid for not knowing how acupuncture works. When you walk in, you just choose where you would like to sit and they get started with you quickly. You can walk in but I have had appointments the two times I have gone and it has worked out well. If you want to play music, you can use headphones but they do have some relaxing music that is always playing. read more

It's such a wonderful opportunity to access acupuncture, as it's so affordable (otherwise there's no way I would be able to go regularly). Appointments are easy to make. Parking is free (there's a lot in back). Most importantly, the staff are wonderful. This place goes beyond acupuncture. It tries (and succeeds) at creating a non-judgmental, welcoming environment that is socio and environmentally conscious. The acupuncturists get straight to the point and didn't put me through long uncomfortable lectures of what I haven't tried and why. After a brief history of my conditions, we came up with a treatment plan that I could work with. There was no pushing for many different supplements or lectures on grand lifestyle changes. Outstanding! A+! I am forever grateful to Providence Community Acupuncture. I haven't had health insurance for some time, so I frequent PCA often, for a host of personal issues, including stress, anxiety, neck and back pain, TMJ, stomach issues, and overall well being, among others. PCA's prices are SUPER affordable (I'm extremely grateful for that alone) and both their employees (Kathy, Mindy, Jordan and more), and acupuncturists (Cris, Caroline, Melissa, and James), are ALL excellent -- VERY personable and kind! You can tell they know how to run a successful business - both efficiently and effectively. The space is clean and spotless, and decorated perfectly. There are two shared/community treatment rooms, one with super high ceilings (which I generally prefer), and a regular space with normal ceilings. My advice is to sit in a different chairs during each visit, and find your favorite. Honestly, everyone should go to acupuncture. It really works for me. The painless needles are as fine as hair, so don't let that stop you. If for some reason a needle feels uncomfortable, which is extremely rare, they will gladly adjust it or remove it. It's only a matter of time before acupuncture becomes even more mainstream, and further accepted by western medicine for it's MANY uses. I feel like I'm ahead of the curve by frequenting PCA. They often have monthly specials, to discount their already affordable cost even further, and they are always supporting the local community through various events. I have been coming to PCA for a few years. Today was my first visit back since COVID. I was let let in promptly by I believe Jason. He made me feel like it was a normal welcoming PCA. He did the normal COVID stuff and then explained some new things I needed to know. Kudos-to you Jason!!! I went to the back and went to select a chair. The blanket was half off the seat so I put my stuff in the bin next to the chair . I was told by the acupuncturist that the chair needed to be cleaned and I could leave my stuff in the bin. I went to the bathroom because the way she spoke sounded like it would just be a minute. When I came back she was a little rude and told me to go to another chair with the bin. I moved where she told me to go. She wasn't exactly friendly-asked me what I was there for and then told me no more blankets because it was too much work for them, and that did I not read that on the website. I didn't realize I was expected to take a test. The room can be cold-especially when its 24 degrees outside. I was bummed. Anyway I loved the chair, being back, the therapeutic music. I enjoyed my 1 hour time. Bummer it is the longest you can stay-used to be whenever you wanted to leave. At the end of the hour- my acupuncturist came over. She started removing the needles and then asked me if I knew what to do with me chair. I told her no. She showed me how to pull the sheet down-like I was 3 year old and demonstrated on another chair and then proceeded to ask me did I know about the missed appointment fee? Yes- because like most people sometimes appointments are missed and I know I had missed one pre-covid and had spoken to the front desk already about it. She proceeded to tell me it was good that my card was on file because I had missed appointments before. I was so in need of this relaxing time and it was kind of her to try to shame me before I left. Needless to say-I will go back but I will make sure that I do not ever use this person again. I will pick another day or time. Remember " Never respond to rudeness. PCA is Amazing! Everyone is very nice , all the practitioners are really knowledgeable and skilled. The environment in the clinic is very calm and relaxing. I have had great success being treated for several different ailments from headaches to gallbladder issues and I will continue to return to treat my problems. I can't say enough good about this practice. Their staff are all so wonderful, polite, friendly and kind. It's very easy to make appointments and they have quite a bit of availability. The space is very comfortable as are all the chairs. They have a lot of parking and it's very easy to get to off the highway. Their rates are so reasonable especially for the quality of service they provide and the quality of their employees. I couldn't recommend this place more and I have no suggestions as to what they could do better, maybe move closer to my house hahaha read more
