See below 3/11 teacher showed up on time for my first driving lesson (ever in my life- yes I explained this during booking my appointment) with another student in the back seat. I was expected to get into the car and drive on the streets of Jersey City to Bayonne to drop off this student. No review, no explanations, no practice in a parking lot. I was then going to have to drive to his next appointment and have them drop me off, making me late for work. None of this was explained on the phone. I have never been in a drivers seat let alone driven, let alone in a city. I feel this was Unsafe, unprofessional, and not the way to teach someone. A new student should be instructed on basic driving, off the road before being expected to drive on the road with unknown passengers. I have reported this to the DMV. read more

Instructors are good, but the school is overbooked and the "Manager" is very rude! I understand that their policy is cancellation within 72 hours. However, things come up and they don't have a way of getting around this policy. I called within 24 hours before my lesson and this "Manager" who sounds like a 16 year old said if i cancel this lesson, they'll cancel my road test. Kept trying to ask for a way we can make this work, but she said with an attitude that she'll cancel my upcoming lessons and my road test if i cancel this lesson and didn't want to work with me to find a common solution. I said I'll try to make it to the lesson, but couldn't. I called to let her know and she said okay your upcoming appointments and my road test are cancelled and she hung up on me! Plus, they didn't have any appointments for a whole month! The month before my road test. The school is overbooked. Again, my instructor was good but I'd say to go with a school that has more availability and not too strict of rules because life happens! Also, they let the student before you pick you up, then you go drop them off. I guess that's their way of maximizing the amount of money they make, but it's not professional or safe. read more

The school is well organized but you have to be very careful which instructor you go with. I made the mistake of letting them give me whichever instructor they had for my practice lesson right before the road test and had a most terrible instructor that I shall not name (coming to think of it, she was borderline abusive: she was shoveling her fingers into the side of my face while yelling at me when I could not decipher her confusing directions). BUT I got lucky enough to have Kevin take me to the road test. How I wished I had my lesson with Kevin. It would have been a completely different experience. As soon as you hear Kevin talk, you know you are dealing with an intelligent person. His instructions are clear, well structured, and easy to understand. He has amazing communication skills. In addition to that, with his high EQ even the guys at the road test like him. Kevin is genuinely a nice person. He cares about his students. He got all nervous when we were taking the test lol. The driver came with a bust up car. To start, my driving lesson with Providence was my first time driving period. I bring no knowledge about driving, engine mechanics, how cars should work, etc. So when I started driving, I thought a 1 second lag from gas peddle to acceleration was a tolerable thing; or a car that keeps drifting to the right of the road was an acceptable hazard . These assumptions are wrong. They are running around teaching everybody with bust up cars, so be extremely cautious with them. The instructor wasn't really bad though. He did show me how to parallel park and he did explain everything really well. He shouldn't be running around teaching people in turned-out cars though. It's probably not his decision what car he uses, but nevertheless, he's customer-facing, so I'm a little annoyed by him by not being straight-forward. He is a little short fat guy with a funny haircut. If you see him, be aware. read more

I schedule a few classes with them before my road test. I spoke to someone to confirm my classes Friday afternoon and I have the prof of the phone call, no one shows up to my lesson I attempted to call them several times and even left messages. When I finally got a hold of someone the following Monday the girl proceeding to tell me she cancelled all my classes and I told her I wanted to speak to the owner and I never got a phone call. When I call back Tuesday they had my mobile number blocked which I have evidence off. Still waiting for the owners phone call this is not great customer service. read more

Hands down the "Best Driving School" in the State of New Jersey. I say this because I've been to many of the so called "Great CDL schools" in both NYC and NJ. It's interesting because there's other schools in NJ that claim to be the best, but if it hadn't been for Providence Driving School in Bayonne, NJ, I would've given up on my dreams of earning my CDL A! That's because I was literally fed up with the lies from all the other CDL A schools I attended. They lied time and time again about the quality of their training, utilizing simulators (doesn't help), flashy YouTube videos with all the shiny bells and whistles. It's only after you've signed on the dotted line, get to their yard and see the crappy trucks, a bunch of guys waiting for one truck, and one MORON instructor that you realize that you were scammed out of a lot of money! That being said, take my advice. Don't sign on the dotted line unless you have shopped around. Listen, you can go to any CDL school, but if you want to be treated with respect, where your dollar is used for quality training, where you'll be prepared for the road test, and not fed a bunch of lies, there's no better place than Providence Driving School who will prepare you with everything you need to succeed! I have to give Providence Driving School 5 stars!! They were incredible and helpful in every way. MY story: I had a Class A years ago but let it lapse and hadn't driven in a while. I took and passed my written test for my Class A CDL in NJ but had to move home to California for emergency family reasons before i could take the road test, plus i needed to refresh my driving skills. I came back to NJ because a "friend" was suppose to train me and let me use his truck, but when I got there he flaked big time. I was distraught, being I had a job opportunity waiting for me in CA. Not wanting to wast the airfare I looked on line for an "AFFORDABLE" truck driving school that would get me in ASAP. Most of the other companies couldn't get me in in a decent amount of time and the where very expensive, for what I need and also tried to convince me that I need to enroll in a full course because I hadn't driven in a while. I happened on Providence just before I gave up, I actually had given up because I couldn't afford what the other companies were asking. Pedro (my instructor) returned my call, I told him my situation and time constraints. He accommodated me in every way he could. After seeing me drive, he told me the areas I needed to work most on. Unfortunately I missed a few VERY important practice times because I couldn't get a ride to the practice location (my fault, plus I was a little over confident) I failed my road test :( so I went back home to CA without a CDLand had to pass on the job. When I got home I called around and found that Providence STILL had the BEST prices even with me adding on the airfare. So when two months later i flew back to NJ, Pedro worked with me on my one problem area (dock backing) I went in to Wayne 5 days later and BAM! I am back in trucking heaven LOL. yes I passed! Pedro is professional at all times, very patient, he pays attention to the areas you need to work most on so your not wasting time and money. I would recommend him to ANYONE who is looking to get their CDL's, even if they're waaaay in California. I plan to return to get my passenger endorsements with Providence as well. I have had a couple of driving classes with Providence Driving School. In the beginning, it was great. My instructor was nice thought me everything I needed to know and had a amazing attitude. The people working for them is not the issue here. It is the owner of the school. I had a schedule appointment on Monday, which they never showed up. Next day, I called the office and they said that they called me to confirm the appointment which they also never did. So I died can I just get a different appointment and they told me no because I was a no show so the "boss" won't have me in their school. It got pretty heated so the lady called her boss and the boss asked me my phone number. The boss said sorry we got your number wrong. So now I am out of this driving school. Honestly my instructor nicest guy ever he is not in this situation. This was caused because the boss got everything wrong and blamed me as the customer. She really needs to step up here game because all these good review are just getting to her mind. read more
