We asked the Waterhouse family if they'd be willing to do so even after the maple festivities and they kindly did so. We got so much more than a tour, for which reasons we highly recommend this farm and their products. Disclosure: I have no financial disclosure to make. This is solely based on great experience our family had. The Waterhouse family welcomed our family (2 adults, 2 kids: 8 and 10 yo) and treated us like their own. They were going to boil their maple sap on that day so we had the privilege of staying from the beginning to end, approx. 90-120 mins. Josh explained the process patiently, while integrating hands-on experience and ensuring our safety. The process involved us (willingly) to feed the wood stove with logs a few times (kids included, with supervision), discussing the science and physics behind the process, and finally tasted freshly-made maple syrup. The experience was much, MUCH richer than I could ever hoped for. The kids learned not only values of hard work, but also to appreciate nature and its gifts, the humility, kindness and generosity, and how interconnected all are. Additionally, we had the privilege of meeting the Waterhouse family that included their younger children and beloved pets. We learned afterwards that they also have AirBnB nearby, which we would love to be in the next time in Maine. My wife and I braved the winter weather to go out and support a local farm for Maine Maple Sunday…read more When we got near they had signage saying event and for people to drive slow. Som parking available but mostly side of road parking. Despite the weather they still had a great turnout of visitors. The biggest shame was due to the weather we missed out on seeing their goats. Looked like a beautiful farm and they had a great amount of offerings involving maple. You could go watch boiling demonstrations and see the magic happen. They also had a good amount of syrup and other maple goodies available to buy and even some samples for free! My wife and I decided to grab one maple donut and one maple cinnamon roll. They delivered them to you after you ordered and they were pipping hot! Both were delicious, my wife enjoyed the donut more and I enjoyed the cinnamon roll more. Along with those goodies they had free coffee or hot chocolate with maple syrup. Which the coffee had the perfect amount of maple to sweeten it without being too much! Was a perfect local family run farm to support and check out. I hope they host more events so we can return and support them further!

Amazing College of Art. My review is based only on my experience as a viewer and not as a college…read morestudent. While touristing around in the streets of Portland, we came across this awesome College that features amazing art galleries (open to the public + free of charge) with all of the amazing work of the talented local students. Coming here on the weekend wasn't too crowded, we even went up the stairs and explored some more art work and some of the cool art rooms. Some students were working on their art and we even got to see the really dope photo room with its own dark room. So so dreamy! The art and talent of these students truly reflects on their art work. Can't wait to come back in here and check out some of the newer art work. The galleries and art work changes constantly so make sure to stop by and check it out. Everyone is welcome!

And if I chose the…read morepath of the latter of those two, I would want to come to Maine College of Art - it's something that passes through my mind every time I'm here! The location of MECA is amazing - I imagine being a young person, attending school here, must be nothing short of fantastic given the proximity to every "cool" thing Portland has to offer. The interior of the school is also lovely: the facilities always seem clean, modern, and a safe place for creativity-fostering and imagination-wandering. I always love the times I get to come here and encourage you - if you never have - to take advantage of the open exhibits they have for the community (of which they are very welcoming of). I've been here on First Friday's (it's usually one of my first stops up Congress St and usually sets the tone for the rest of the Walk), for their annual Holiday Art Sale (which can be SERIOUSLY packed, but if you're patient and accommodating, you can find some real art/jewelry gems during that time), for MECAmorphosis in Spring (one of the coolest art events I've been to in the city), or their "COLLECT" show in October. Some incredible art I've seen here (and there's been so much it's hard to recall after all these years)?: 1. Video games created by students and available for testing/playing with. 2. A student who created an interactive art installation of a 1920's circus-themed birthday party for a little boy (there was another one nearby that was of a vegan restaurant, this must have been a project for the graphic design class or something). 3. A split-screen video, half of pre-recorded footage of seagulls eating donuts and half of real-time footage of people looking at the art eating donuts. Hysterical. Love this place and am continually happy it's a part of our city!

They recently…read moretook on a huge order to print out a traveling exhibition for me -- mount it, crate it and get it out the door on time. All went off without a hitch from start to finish. Keith spent many hours with me (sorry Keith) problem solving the best possible way to create this traveling exhibit-keeping a lot of complicated factors in mind. Once we made our decision to go with Dibond panels, Keith and Dave sent me print samples on a variety of paper stocks. Keith helped me source out some other needed supplies to hang the show and then they went to work. Dave took extra extra care in producing these beautifully rich gorgeous B&W images - keeping the tones consistent. And Keith mounted and laminated all on Dibond, built three easily manageable crates and off they went to CA. Keith, I always trust I will get your honest opinion and you will deliver the best quality one can find. Even with all the labs steps away here in NYC I still return to you and will keep returning to you. You do beautiful professional work. THANK YOU both for a knock out job!

Leapin has clearly marked sections to making it easier to find what you are looking for easier. They carry a wide variety of mediums from crystals to books to incense. Jewelry both made locally as well as from afar. The woman who assisted seemed a little awkward when asking for help. Could not make eye contact nor would she stay with me to answer any questions. She went from her chair behind the counter, pointed out the table with jewelry walking away from me to the bookshelf where she started to browse the books. The only thing I could think of was she was looking for a crystal book to assist? She did not though. I selected a gorgeous honey Amber necklace and three bracelets, next stones. If you've never been here before you learn that the stones call YOU. I have many examples of this happening to me and today was no exception. Then over to the incense area for a few boxes to stock up the house. I spent over $100 which seemed to make the woman happy, she had to do the bare minimum to make this sale. I do miss the women who've worked here who jump in and ask if they can help, stay available for any questions and are super happy you came in. Maybe she was having an off day, don't we all. On the minus side the variety once offered is no longer the case, seems like the whole thing has been scaled back considerably. I will now have to make my way up to the Freeport location and see what if anything has changed there. Happy they are still in our community.
