Pricing is reasonable with a 3-month tarot insight setting you back $60. It's a beautiful shop filled with strange and wonderful things... Definitely have a peak inside even if it doesn't sound like your cup of tea. It's a fascinating space!

Nevertheless, the gallery staff don't seem to mind a Saturday afternoon inspirational browse. Definitely worth a visit.

This old building on Rathdowne Street looks like it could have originally been a house or doctors rooms - although the windows are high, they're quite narrow and facing a busy road so there isn't a huge amount of natural light, nor is it a particularly peaceful setting. The second exhibition I saw here was in the evening, and I felt the gallery had a much better atmosphere at night. One thing I really do enjoy about Bridget McDonnell is the quirky little sculpture in the back courtyard that's part of the permanent collection - this hose-baring squiggly wire fellow gave me quite a fright on first sight (he's like a three dimensional shadow) but once I realized what was going on I couldn't help but smile. If you're in the 'hood, stick your head in just to see him.

Mirrors adorn the wood posts and coloured glass fills the windows. There are cosy booths circling the back. But I prefer a seat out on the floor where my view isn't obstructed by those pesky (but pretty) mirrored posts. There is also a basic bar at the back with beer and wine to quench your thirst during performances. The venue is home to Circus Oz, but truth be told, I've only seen one-off performances by other artists here. The programming seems to lean towards the safe side - with cabarets where your work colleagues or mother could join you for a show. I recommend the Spiegeltent for an atmospheric night of theatre.

If you are a Dj, producer, dancer or some kind of entertainer looking to get involved in the Melbourne dance scene I recommend contacting Future as your first point of contact. If you are a regular festival goer Future recruits a large amount of promoters during festival season to help sell tickets and promote their events, not to mention making a few extra bucks for yourself in the mean time!
