During the 40 minutes I spent waiting, despite arriving 10 minutes early for my appointment, the smell was so intense and nauseating, I considered leaving. Another woman was waiting with me and graciously sprayed her perfume in an unsuccessful attempt to cover the odor. We both developed headaches and felt I'll to our stomachs. Finally the person who'd been having her reading done emerged from the room and she explained to her mom (the woman who'd been waiting with me) that the reading was, in her words, bullshit. She said it was extremely generic and she did not feel the woman was legitimate whatsoever. The mom had been intending to have her own reading, but instead paid the woman the $40 for her daughter's reading (her 30th birthday present sadly) and they gathered their things. The daughter told me not to waste my money so I walked out with them as well. The "psychic" followed us out, demanding to know what happened and accusing the girl of bad talking her business. It was just an all around SHADY experience and I'm grateful I didn't waste my money. Half an hour later my head is still throbbing from the ammonia cat piss odor and I had to change my clothes. Just a very, very unprofessional experience. Side note re: cat pee smell. During the driveway confrontation the business owner asked why I was leaving and I informed her that I was put off by the overwhelming urine smell. Looking offended, she respondd "that is because the last owner had a cat he left in the basement. I've had it sanitized five times. It has nothing to do with my cat." Cost notes: on the phone they said it was $40 for a reading with no time limit. (Though those two women had appointments at 1:30 and I had mine at 2:00. So I call shenanigans on the no time limit claim. On the business there was a large banner saying $10 special, though the girl said the "psychic" demanded the $40 before the reading even began. Gee, I wonder why. Oh, and she offered her a fabulous opportunity to come back for 10 more tarot reading sessions for only $300. It really was just laughably bad, all around,

In just the short hour and a half we had with Elliot, he offered up so many insights to fellow readers and Tarot study enthusiasts. Here is just some of that knowledgeshare: ** Don't get mired in hard-fast dyads of the cards--good/bad, black/white, yes/no--each card is neither of those things, and all of those things. ** Cards that appear "scary" are often the cards that promote the most self-growth and self-awareness; we all want The Sun to show up, but we often learn more when someone like The Devil takes a turn in the spread. ** It's all in the cards--delve deep into learning the symbols of each card, and approach the symbol's meaning from the context of its placement in the spread, and the question of each reading. ** As a reader, get out of the rut of being a people-pleaser; set boundaries, and value your time--your readings will be better for it. ** When a card that is traditionally viewed as negative does come up, redirect the querent to a place of empowerment; help them find strength to examine options for overcoming the apparent opposition in the card. ** Get your inner-critic out of the way when you go into a reading; have a confidence to allow your wise sage side a voice, trust it, don't overthink it, and let the reading flow. ** Find courage to put who you truly are as a reader out there; exemplify and model your own skills and gifts.
