What an awesome place to find your eco-friendly home goods. They carry body and home cleaning products which are made by various manufacturers. I love that you can bring your own containers in to replace whatever you need, and they also sell empty containers that you can use. This was my first time coming here, and I was impressed by the range of things they carry. I was particularly blown away by how good their bath products smell. I left with some bath bombs as well as a little fridge that you put baking soda in to deodorize your actual fridge. I will be coming back. Shout out to their makeup container recycling program as well. You can bring empty makeup containers here (including mascara wands!) for them to be recycled. I was hesitant to go because I live 25 minutes away and it's the only refill store around -but I went anyway and I'm not disappointed! The owner was so kind and helpful and very knowledgeable about all of the products she has. For how small the store is there is a decent variety of sustainable goods and you can't beat the prices. This shop helped me drastically reduce my plastic consumption. Jolene, the shop owner, is SUPER friendly and helpful. She stocks multiple types of dish brushes, dish soap blocks, bar soaps, soap dishes, reusable utensils and straws, bath brushes, dental floss, and so much more. AND THE REFILL STATION IS AMAZING! Shampoo, conditioner, liquid dish soap, dishwasher powder, laundry detergent (powder AND liquid), toothpaste, mouth wash, deodorant, and other essentials. Bring your own containers! I use glass jars for my refills. If you don't have any with you, she usually has a cart of extras. The best part is that she's genuinely open to feedback. I asked about plastic-free bandages to restock my emergency kit, and they were available in-store about a month later!!!!!! Love this shop. Please support it! read more

I love Public Goods & Services. It's the best little shop to help on my journey to zero waste, which, I probably will never be able to be total zero waste status, but I can definitely reduce my use of plastic by coming here for refills on just about everything! Jolene has skin care, laundry care, cleaning supplies. You name it. I like the shampoo and conditioning bars she stocks as well as a lot of her different eye creams and goos. She is also super helpful and knowledgeable about all of her products she carries. She has always answered my questions about using a particular oil or cream on my face and her experience with it. You can bring in your own container to fill, or, if you forget, she usually has some glass jars on hand to use. I also come in to get refills on their tear free baby/kid shampoo/body wash. She also carries things like citric acid and baking soda if you like to make your own bath/shower bombs. oh! And, dryer balls! Love using those instead of wasteful dryer sheets. So. Much. Good. Stuff. This is a great place to come if you're truly looking to reduce your plastic waste. I was nervous at first, but Jolene is so friendly and kind and answered all of my stupid questions that now I'm on my way to being a less-wasteful human. read more

I've been to this shop a few times now and they always have the best stuff and the owner is one of most welcoming and helpful people. The products she sells are so durable that I find her things last many times longer than "cheaper" products. Her sponges last 9 months of daily and heavy use and still have life left as rags and then as cleaning for bathrooms and toilets (my first one is two years old and still going), scrub pads (1 year in and it's like new), and soaps (I've tried two and on their drying rack last one person about 2-3 months per bar!!!), so if they seem a little more expensive, don't worry, once you consider the longer life and better quality for your body and home, it's a lower total cost. Also, she's a local shop that sells only small company extremely high quality stuff and doesn't contribute to plastic or chemical waste in our body, home, or planet! We're on Covid lockdown now, but she's still taking online orders and doing curb side pickup. I'm planning to head over tomorrow after work to get all the stuff I need and also buy a bunch of gifts for friends and family to help her keep afloat during this time, she a part of this community I feel SO lucky to have!!! read more

Great zero waste shop! I'm trying to cut down on packaging for certain things like skincare and cleaning products. The owner was really helpful in answering questions I had about the face wash and face cream she carries, telling me what they're made of and what other customers have said about them. It's also really affordable. I was surprised by my total. I bought face cream + jar, face wash + bottle, and a glass straw and only spent around $25. It's nice that the focus of the store is on refilling. Other zero waste stores I've been to place their focus on reusable products like KeepCups, straws, etc. One other thing, I love the size of the store. Most zero waste stores I've been to have been in these sprawling spaces that make the store seem empty and like they're going out of business. Public Goods is just the right amount of space and looks full but not cluttered. The only downside is how far it is from me but I'll just have to make a monthly trip out of it and stock up. read more

I love this place so much! Trying to go more and more less wasteful and this is the place to start!! The owner is so helpful and will take any containers you bring in to fill, she also has some for sale and a few for free if you need any! I've got the laundry powder, oxy clean, shampoo and conditioner and plan on getting body lotion and hand soap in the near future! Really love the shop, it's great to have in West Seattle and will continue to frequent. That said, purchased a lovely dish towel and after one delicate wash it began to unravel. Took back to the shop to ask about a replacement and was told that effectively as soon as it was used or washed the store wouldn't stand behind the product for a swap out for the same towel. I know small businesses have small margins but unfortunate we couldn't work something out. read more

My favorite plaaaace!! A new zero waste store that sells refillable products and zero waste items to helps you make the transition to stop using single-use plastics. The owner, Jolene, is a gem! So friendly and informative and willing to converse about anything you have questions on. The refillable station is wonderful. She continually keeps expanding her inventory, so there are always new items (the "jolly rancher" shampoo there is fantastic and literally smells amazing!!). There's things like activated charcoal, baking soda, shampoo/conditioner, laundry detergent, soaps, etc. All refillable with your personal containers or containers for purchase. A much-see! If you are interested in reducing your plastic consumption or the zero/low waste movement, I highly suggest coming here!! It's really helped me cut down on my single-use plastic. I absolutely love the refill station; there's an alternative for almost everything you could possibly need - shampoo, conditioner, lotion, laundry detergent, etc - and all at a really reasonable price. I bought a small amount of all purpose cleaner (that I diluted with water at home, per Jolene's advice) FOR 25 CENTS! She also carries other products like beeswax wraps, produce bags, soap bars, safety razors, etc. I usually bring in my own containers, but there are usually extras in case. This is my favorite store. Jolene researches every product and I fully trust her recommendations. She is so knowledgeable and helpful. I don't have to think any more about what deodorant to use! I buy our dish soap, dishwashing detergent, laundry powder and brightener, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, bandaids, etc. Imagine all the plastic we've not created because of our purchases.
