The beach was clean, very wide, sand was nice and soft, good breezes, just lovely! Dogs are allowed on the beach, and parking is free at the access road. People sharing the beach were friendly and polite, and all dogs were tended to and kept under control.

It is a tourist trap and a huge disappointment. As such things go, Harbor Town in Sea Pines is much better. This marina has no view, is overly crowded, has uninteresting shops (as if I care about shops anyway), and feels claustrophobia inducing. My daughter and I had never been in many, many years visiting the island and now I know why. The Salty Dog Cafe and two other associated restaurants are located here. I had never tried Salty Dog and thought we would give it a try. Also, I wanted to photograph the sunset and thought I would have a good view. Nope, sunset is not even viewable. We paid $6 to get into Sea Pines and then left within 30 minutes and found a good place to eat. I am just glad we didn't decide to bike ride there instead of drive. We checked the menus at the three restaurants and were not thrilled by any. Thrilled? Interested is more accurate! I considered 0 stars if that is even possible but then there are apparently quite a few of those who enjoy such things.

Private beach access was a short walk. The pool was clean and offered a separate kiddie pool. Unfortunately, the hot tub was closed for repairs. We took advantage of the nice gazebo area with 3 gas grills and a gas firepit. The beach was not crowded at all. Only had one day of rain. Palmetto Dunes is safe, secure, very clean, and family friendly.

He and his nephew took us to a nice spot in the Sound, gave the boys some good coaching, and the boys ended up catching a baby shark and several hammer heads. Everyone else cancelled but we persevered. As did Tour Daufuskie and our amazing guide. We learned a lot of history, purchased a beautiful indigo scarf, and even found the only geocache left on the island. We also enjoyed the boat ride and were rewarded with dolphins, how cool is that.
