Good beach park, but not a lot of parking. There are clean bathrooms & a place to rinse the sand off. If you don't have a locals parking pass, you need to pay the meter in order to park. The beach here is wide & sandy. This is one of my favorite go- to beach spots if there are parking spaces available.

Great park with a large parking lot. The park includes beach access and a boardwalk that ends at a mat for handicap access that allows wheelchairs to make it pretty far onto the sand. That's very good. The beach includes restrooms and outdoor showers. The beach itself is flat and the sand is quite firm. It's a great spot for a beach umbrella and sit in the Sun. No Sun today though - it was raining. Still a great visit. [Review 14365 overall, 1689 of 2020, number 732 in South Carolina.]

This was a beautiful beach. Less people than the other beaches. Pretty quiet and has great sun rises. Easy walk from sandcastles by the sea homes. Would highly recommend.

I fell in love with the quaint beauty of Folly Beach! We came for a late beach day and arrived around 6pm. This was perfect timing because most people were leaving the beach at this time. We got to enjoy an empty beach, listen to the calming waves, and watch the beautiful sunset. Folly is also not as crowded as Hilton Head, so this is a great alternative if you're looking to get away from the crowds.

This beach is GREAT! Plenty of room to spread out, not over crowded with tourist or locals and friendly. We took our family of 6 (4 teenagers) every day to the beach while staying on HHI and were never disappointed. With the dunes being a breeding habitat for sea turtles the beach stays clean and manicured. Make sure to cleanup after yourself and lights out on the beach after 10pm!

We went to 5 beaches on our Spring Break vacation and out of all of them, this was our favorite! It was clean, pretty, chill, dog friendly, not too crowded, and super relaxing! They have a shower to rinse as well as a bathroom. You do have to pay a meter. The walk is not bad especially with the mat they put down. If you are in the area, check out this beach! Last time we were in Hilton Head we went to another beach that was just as great! I wish I remember the name of that one too!

Parking is close to the wooden walkway over the dunes and then a rubber mat allows you to get to the beach easily. Great scenery and miles of open sand and water.

Like most of out there, I have been to a few beaches over the years. As a pet (dog) owner, the ability to bring our furry friends with us for a little time at the water is critical to my decision. I have lived all over South Carolina from Myrtle Beach to Charleston to Hilton Head and the dog rules vary, but for the most part, they are dog friendly. Some require a permit, some have hours set aside for dogs, leash rules and such. It is an advantage to have dog friendly beaches in S.C. as there are really no waves, so when you launch a tennis ball out to sea, your faithful pet will retrieve it and come back with no problem of large, submerging waves. FollyField only charges for parking, but as of yet, I have never paid. I have been going off season and there is no parking staff. There are no rules for your dog, other than common sense. The people I have encountered all are friendly and typically vacationers from the many beach side hotels. Which keeps Folly Field more of a beach and less of a dog park. The water is shallow and I went in for a dip as late in the year as a month ago, but I like cold refreshing and water. to go swimming in. So, Folly is not necessarily good for surfers, except wind surfers, however an excellent beach for every other in water or on sand activity. Side Note: I was in NYC a few months back, there are no dog friendly beaches, other than the boardwalk, how unfair is that?

Amazing kite on this spectacular beach !

Folly Field Beach is the FAVORITE Beach for locals. Spectacular SUNRISES...wide sandy beaches adjoin the HHI bike path on Folly Field Rd....a mid island delight .

Such a nice clean beach! Had a blast with my family. Best of all is that it wasn't crowded.

Beautiful and clean beach with lifeguards and the ability to pay a small, daily fee for renting chairs and an umbrella.

Being the…read moreexplorative individual I am, I stumbled upon this beach which I thought would be a perfect spot to spend my birthday exploring. Urghhh not so much...!!!! This place is located in a residential area and I drive around on a unbusy Monday being a work day but, it still took me like 30mins to try to find a park just to enjoy the beach. I was thinking I did t make a good choice for a beach day. Anywho finally after spotting a person pull out from a street parking spot, finally I was able to park. Next venture i had to figure out was how to get to the beach now. Because of road blocks, I ended up having to ask 2 men at a hotel and they directed me which way to go. At this point, I'm starting to feel defeated but, I'm determined. At least, close to an hour later...I see the beach. It did had a water sprouting from the ground, a few swings for couples so nice landscaping. Then there was the beach, sadly it was not at all what I had expected as the water was muddy looking. Also the sand-flies were aggressive & everywhere. I sat on a boat for a few minutes checking out the view but, honestly on this day it was not much to enjoy beside the wedding that was about to take place. After only 10mins sitting, the sand-flies won! I left the beach and walked around and went through a restaurant which I noticed a lovely pool and a Tiki Bar next door. So thought I would grab a cocktail to start celebrating my birthday to but, not before getting bite 5-6 times by the very aggressive sand-flies. Warned: The beach does not offer the most easiest access to get to. I would have preferred going to Orange Beach in AL so, for this reason instead of staying the 2 nights I planned on staying...it would t have been worth the money. I only stayed in Hilton Head 1 night!!!!!!! Please put up signage so, people know where to PARK and BEACH ENTRANCE SIGNAGE so, 1st timers will not be defeated in trying to go to the correct area of the beach. It's not fun feeling like you're in a maze when visiting somewhere new.
