Always a pleasure to use this location for my storage needs... It's easy to upgrade or downgrade depending on my storage requirements.

(3 months ago) 0 Stars -- If That Were an Option…read more Public Storage has been one of the coldest, most careless companies I have ever dealt with. During one of the most difficult periods of my life -- recovering from emergency spinal surgery while simultaneously going through a divorce and housing instability -- I fell behind on a small balance for a tiny storage unit. I provided medical documentation, therapist letters, and repeatedly attempted to communicate in good faith and ask for flexibility while I stabilized my circumstances. Instead, Public Storage auctioned the unit anyway. Months later, when I contacted them about potentially renting again, a staff member casually remarked that my former unit "must have had nice stuff" because it sold for more than what I owed. She then referenced an "overage check" that had supposedly been mailed to me. I never received a dime. The moment I began calmly asking follow-up questions, the conversation abruptly changed tone and shut down entirely. The lack of safety and accessibility was equally disturbing. On more than one occasion, my son and I were literally trapped inside the gated property after hours because the gate code would allow entry but would not allow exit. The only solution offered was a corporate 1-800 number that "closes at 9 p.m." -- meaning customers can potentially find themselves locked inside a storage facility with no on-site assistance available. At the New Hope/Winnetka location, there is virtually no Wi-Fi and barely enough cell service to reliably place a call. As someone with physical limitations following spinal surgery, that is not a minor inconvenience -- it is a legitimate safety concern. If someone experienced a medical emergency or fall inside their unit, there is a very real possibility they would not even be able to contact help. Public Storage advertises "on-site management," but there was little evidence of meaningful oversight or customer safety monitoring. At the same location, I was assigned an upper-floor unit while the elevator remained out of service for nearly three months. I physically could not access my belongings during much of that time, yet I was still expected to pay full monthly rent without accommodation. Between the poor communication, lack of accessibility, questionable handling of auction overages, and overall absence of empathy, my experience consistently left me feeling like Public Storage values profit far more than people. Thankfully, that experience eventually led me somewhere completely different. By contrast, StorageMart in Plymouth off Highway 169 restored a little bit of my faith in customer service. From the moment I walked into the office and met Brad, I was treated with patience, professionalism, and basic human dignity. The facility is clean, accessible, well-maintained, and -- importantly -- actually feels safe. Their staff communicate honestly, follow through on what they say, and treat customers like people rather than account numbers. In a world where genuine compassion in business feels increasingly rare, StorageMart was a night-and-day difference. Bottom line: if your belongings, your safety, or your peace of mind matter to you, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere before trusting Public Storage with any of them. **All items verifiable by photo and video evidence. -A Former Customer Who Learned the Cost of Indifference
