PLEASE rent a storage place somewhere else. There are many better storage facilities in the West Chester, PA with better service and rates. We were paying $471.04 a month for a 10 x10 storage unit. (It was actually an 8 x 8. We measured.) We had already paid for the month we moved out. We moved on the 5th of the month. We asked for a prorated refund and were refused. The person in the office says they don't give refunds and that we would have access the remainder of the month. This did not happen. We were locked out that day. Okay prices... every storage place is expensive. Very disappointed in the office - first time I went for a problem had to wait 20 minutes for the lady to get back from the bathroom. Now I need help with my storage unit and wanted to stop by - office says open but no one was there even at 3 different times of the day. Came again today - noon there. If you have your belongings in the public storage in west Chester, GET IT OUT NOW. I am absolutely heartbroken. In the midst of being on unemployment due to COVID-19, I had to move back to my parents house so we could save up some money. With no space in their home to store my belongings, I figured a storage unit would a great option. I researched how to keep my belongings safe and had several of the items wrapped in plastic, and I placed tarps on the floor just in case there was some moisture. Just a year later I am here to remove my belongings, and everything is covered in mold and mildew. Nothing is salvageable. The floor is wet, and the walls and door are covered in mold. These items (couch, full bedroom set, miscellaneous furniture items) were my first big purchases for my first apartment as an adult, spending my first paychecks just to call them my own. Public storage is apparently not responsible for this, as it is a "store at your own risk" facility. Now I am out THOUSANDS of dollars because their facility has water leaks and mold. I paid for a service expecting my items to be safe, and you owe it to your customers to be liable and keep your premises in order. I filed a claim with insurance and am PRAYING they can cover the cost of my ruined items, but I am also now out of the hundreds of dollars in storage fees I paid just to have my items ruined in a few months as well as $600 to remove the junk and put it in the garbage. Public storage should be responsible for this negligence. Please do not use Public Storage!!! read more

I Had my unit moved out on 09-05 and asked them to stop all payments. despite I was charged in October and my account is still on. There was no refund granted even after I told them. They agreed that and told me someone will call me after 1:00 pm. Not received any call and still receiving emails for payment. Not a good service at all. Just want our money. Not Recommend. She flawlessly assisted me in both identifying the perfect storage unit for my needs and initially establishing an online account. When I next saw her, about six months later, she instantly remembered me and asked about the family challenge I had mentioned to her previously. With that being said I was very hesitant about changing locations. The ladies were very patient with me. They answered all my questions of which I had many. Public Storage informed me of an almost 30% increase in monthly rent, so I scheduled a move out date. Within minutes, I received a discount offer, good for 6 months, via Email. I clicked on the link within 1 minute of receiving it, only to see "this offer has expired". I will never use Public Storage again. read more

What a wonderful experience. I called and spoke with someone to help me figure out what kind of unit I needed. And although my original location had no units available, the sales rep was not only super friendly but also helped me find a unit close by that was perfect for the amount of furniture and boxes I had. The receptionist was not helpful, I had to locate my unit on my own, being my fir visit from out of state, not familiar with the area.

I moved out end of March, paid my final bill and let them know several times but they keep trying to bill me and now are saying a lien will be applied. Seems kind of scammish to me. read more

Not only did you raise the rental fee 40$ approximately 4 months after I moved on, the " security" gate was broken for over a month. Stuck open. Do yourself a favor and NEVER rent here! They are very nice and helpful until they get your business! Been renting from this location for over 6 months now. Went to weeks ago to speak to someone, 2 purses on the counter and no one in sight. Waited over 20 minutes, just me and two purses. Left and decided to call. Called 3 days in a row with no answer even after leaving messages! FINALLY went back in and actually found someone at the desk. The lady at the desk said the phones are broken(funny bc minutes after saying that the phones rings, she answered and asked her friend if she could call her right back!) then tried to pay for a prorated month. Told they don't that and was told had to pay the late fee even though I had been trying to make payment for DAYS! Never again!!!! read more

This place is a complete dump. Avoid at all costs. Just got a notice of a rate increase. The security gate has not worked in months thus no security. The spot lights on all the buildings in the rear of the property are out. Gutters are off several buildings so that you get totally drenched trying to access your unit after it rains. The property is filthy dirty and no one cares there are plenty of other storage units in West Chester so avoid this place it is horrible read more

Would never suggest this business to anyone storing anything valuable or sentimental. I rented a unit for almost a year and a half. The woman who helped me initially get the unit was very nice and helpful. That was the only positive thing that came from my experience there. I didn't go there much until the last three weeks when I was moving my stuff out. I went about five times during that period. Every time I left I was congested. I'm guessing it was from all of the mold. One of the days the place was so humid some of my items actually felt wet when I touched them. And this was in January. Pretty much everything I stored had mold on it. Most of my furniture and clothes( kept in plastic bags) were trashed due to mold and smelling of mildew. Thankfully my books and papers were in plastic bins with lids so they were mostly okay. Not a very positive experience. read more

This place is GROSS! After 10 months of my expensive furniture being stored in this storage facility, we went to pick it up yesterday and everything was covered in MOLD. The girl who was working the desk told us we pretty much had no recourse since we didn't take the extra insurance ( we were told when we first rented that if we had homeowners we would be ok and not need it). Regardless of insurance, the unit was covered in mold and rust and ruined over $3000 worth of furniture alone. What was even MORE gross was the " could care less you're screwed" attitude given by the front desk and then even worse from the DISTRICT MANAGER! The facility manager mustered out a little compassion but again with no help. I understand things happen but at $118 a month you'd think your things would be better cared for. The customer service here is horrible. Kristen or Christina, I believe is the office manager and she will NOT answer the phone. We have moved out of state and were only available on weekends to move out of our unit. We played phone tag with the West Chester location for two months and the online pay portal never worked. The service reps have no problem telling you to pay but will never call you back when you have an issue or you're being over charged. They will always "note the account" but nothing gets done. Then they'll say they've been having phone and "website issues" for two months(ironically the same period no one can get ahold of them). Don't even try calling corporate because they will try to make every thing your fault too. We left two voicemails for the district manager over the last 2 months also. They don't take any responsibility nor do they care if there's a problem with their units, phones, or online portal. Not worth your money or time unless you want to deal with a run around every month and a broken website. read more

Tina and Charrie were very pleasant and cheerful. The weather was bad on the day that I rented the unit but you couldn't tell from their attitude. They quickly showed me around the property and I rented a 10 x 10 unit. I rented before and this was the best expiration of had with public storage of any kind. I would recommend shopping online for a better rate before coming in. There are specials and coupons available online if you cannot get at the store. Also bring insurance from your own home policy or be prepared to pay $11 a month for their basic insurance. read more

Furniture was damaged due to a leak and I was told that their facility is store at you own risk and there was nothing they could do for us. The individual people who have worked there seem nice enough, but over the time we were there we had a serious leak in our unit due to poor maintenance (and were told that we should just 'expect that' if we weren't in a climate controlled unit - WHAT?), had to fight them to get a new unit, our bill was constantly wrong, the website never worked. The issues we experienced seem largely with Public Storage the overall company, which is basically a dumpster fire. read more

It's a storage facility, so there's not too much to say. It's nice that it's gated with individual lock codes, and it's nice that it's all ground level. The on-site staff is great- courteous & very helpful. My only gripe is that it is not accessible 24/7, although it really isn't a huge deal because the gate hours are 6am-9pm daily, which is a pretty wide window. read more

Tina at Public Storage was a huge help in our storage facility needs. Super friendly and above and beyond all of my previous experiences with storage rentals. She showed us our unit and and when it turned out to be too small for what we had, she easily transferred us to a bigger size with no hassle (and even sent out her son in law to help us move!). The unit itself is clean, secure, and easy to access. This was also the best price of all the places I called! Would recommend this location without a doubt. read more

I strongly suggest keeping your stuff ANYWHERE but HERE. First they will insist that you sign up for automatic monthly debits from your checking account (not legal to do, btw) but will eventually back down when you challenge them on it. Then, good luck ending your lease. The terms say you can terminate at any time with two days notice. I gave them five, in writing... and was still billed for the following month, then hit with a late charge. I called and left a message asking them to remove these charges (they NEVER answer the phone and apparently will not return calls either). I assumed the matter was resolved, until the letter from the collections agency arrived. Now I've had to take the time to dispute this "debt" with them, and have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I don't know if these practices are common to all Public Storage facilities, but this facility rates at the very bottom of the customer service scale. read more
