Pueo Boutique has the best selection of beautiful Island jewelry! I was specifically looking for silver bangles for my daughters 16th birthday. Not only did they carry silver, they had a great selection to choose from. But what I've never seen before is the ability to customize your own bangle, how fun! You can pick from shells, jade, turquoise and every color of pearl. Typically the turn around time for custom jewelry is several days, but Amy, the jewelry artist went home and made the custom bracelet that night since she knew it was a birthday gift. My mom was looking for some nice made in Hawaii clothing, and boy, was that difficult to find on a street that specializes in t-shirts for the cruise ship crowd. We wandered into this little boutique and found a great selection and good service. I was actually referred to this store from their neighbor (Big Island Jewelers). I was looking for local handmade items as gifts to take back home. One of the employees (sorry no name) was trying to help me and finally was able to. All's I wanted was a small dangling set of earrings and didn't really see what I was looking for, but they custom made the perfect earrings for me within minutes as I continued to shop around in this cute store. What great customer service! I bought my daughter 3 bandeaus ( perfect for bustier ladies), three local made cards, a sterling silver coral ring, and the custom made earrings. This is for the second location, on Lunapule. I promised my family I'd be super quick and over half an hour later ... I left with some beautiful, unique trinkets, and an even more beautiful interaction with the lovely woman working there, Natasha. The jewelry is astounding and made by the owners, so it's locally made, which is great, reasonably priced, and made tourist me feel like part of the community. I think if I lived on Hawaii this would be a shop I visited at least monthly, or more when I were in town. It had that warm, hanging-out-with-girlfriends vibe. They also have some fabulous long dresses, long and shorter cover ups. I'm a size 16 -18 (US), and they had good looking cover ups which would fit me, which I appreciate. (Some places you can tell they use the rejected textiles for the larger sizes, which befuddles me because while I may be plump, I still have good taste, want to look good, and have money to spend on said items. Ahem.) I could have spent a lot more time in this jewel of a shop, and I wish I had an extra suitcase to purchase everything my heart desired in there! Go! You will not regret it, especially if Natasha is there. She's a gem. read more

The owner Amy's vision for both stores is to offer not only her hand made jewelry but other local artist's clothing & other high quality goods as possible ... at mid-range prices. This includes also Hannah's hand made jewelry that is different than Amy's while being complimentary. There are not any other shops on this island like Amy's, that spans all age groups. Tucked in a little courtyard off Alii Drive called Banyan Court Mall, Pueo Boutique is a refreshing change from all the oh-so-tacky tourist shops in the area. If you're driving, park in the free parking lot behind Kona Seaside Hotel off Likana Drive. Pueo carries lots of local designers including Machine Machine, Lily Lotus and Noelani Designs. If you're from Oahu, the store reminds me of Drift in Kaimuki. Service was kinda lacking, salesperson barely said hi, but she was pretty busy changing her baby's diaper. Cute store overall. Kona definitely needed a place like this! read more

I'm so glad we stumbled upon this store while walking Alii Drive to explore! This was the only shop where I bought anything (other than chocolates) during our stroll. The shop supports local (to all the Hawaiian islands - not just Hawai'i) artists and designers and they're all great designs. I bought a cute girl's dress by Bitty Bambu from Maui for my niece and my friend bought some earrings for herself designed by the wife/co-owner of the shop (I think). Everything was reasonably priced, which isn't always the case with shops showcasing local artists. I'll definitely visit again if I'm back in Kona. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE finding these type of gems when on vacation. The owner, Amy, does an excellent job of merchandising and buying. You will find non-touristy items here...apparel for women and babies, handmade jewelry from local designers, and great accessories. I could have easily spent more money had it not been for a time crunch to get back to our ship. Picked up some earrings and a shell magnet & wish I had time to try on some of the tops. Pueo Boutique regularly updates their FB page with new arrivals and you can find some of their jewelry on Etsy. I wish the jewelry on Etsy was updated more often as there were some really cool pieces that I saw in the store that I would consider buying online if available. read more

I love the merchandise ... we bought two super cute dresses, a top and a lovely sunrise shell necklace for my niece!! I loved this shop! It's kind of hidden and is super tiny, but its worth finding. I got a beautiful pair of earrings and a cute bag from Pueo.
