Right outside the walls of Castillo San Felipe del Morro in San Juan, you'll find the Paseo del Morro a scenic waterfront walkway that hugs the edge of the old city like it's guarding history itself. This path runs along massive Spanish colonial walls that are over 300 years old and once protected one of the oldest cities in the Americas. Puerta de San Juan, built in 1635, was the main entrance where ships would arrive and dignitaries stepped foot into the city, and today it still stands as the gateway between past and present. The boardwalk itself was once a military maintenance road, now turned into a must-see stroll with ocean views on one side and towering fortress walls on the other. If you're coming in by cruise or on foot, this is the kind of place you don't just pass you take your time, because this is where San Juan really introduces itself. read more
