The picarones were the best I've had in Spain, and the salmorejo soup was as tasty as any I have had. I considered going back to Montero on my 2nd day in Salamanca, but decided to broaden my horizons by trying another place nearby, which turned out to be lackluster. Instead they have done a modern yet tasteful look with branding that I love. Now they are not quite a fine dining restaurant but this does not mean that they aren't doing lots of things right. The food we had was great. Not fantastic but certainly delicious and I enjoyed every part of my meal. I particularly loved the prawns I had as a starter and would definitely recommend them. The service we had was also very good. Maybe a little slow considering there was only one other table, but still I left satisfied that our waitress had attended us well and with a smile. Overall, I would recommend this place to eat... but I would suggest having the set menu at €25 for 3 courses as that would seem much better value than our bill which I thought was far too steep.
