We visited Puerto de Arrecife or Port of Arrecife, Lanzarote, Spain by cruise ship. The Marina was quite nice lined with small boutiques, restaurants and street vendors. City Centre was about one half mile from the port and easily accessible by foot. There were taxis awaiting for those who wanted to venture further or were unable to walk.
The land is volcanic making for a scenery void of much greenery. Cacti had been planted by the port to beautify it. Houses along the Marina are all painted white with a little bit of color on the window sills.
Restaurant after restaurant along the main walkway. we came to a pedestrian only street full of local flavor businesses, street vendors, singers, a person doing the tango and many more restaurants. A group of parents and their children walked for the awareness of autism. We stopped to buy a t shirt and poke around the many stores. A very simple town that was enjoyable and full of flavor.
On our return trip, I purchased some shoes along the Marina and drooled over a few Frida Kahlo bags. I resisted the urge.
