We arrived around 5:30pm and spent until about 7pm exploring all the walking paths. There is something here for everyone. There is a huge playground for little ones, there are paths for walkers/runners/dog walkers, and there were even a bunch of people fishing in the lakes. I love how child-friendly this park is. It felt like most of the bridges, benches, and other fun structures were made by girl or boy scouts. There is a huge parking lot so it's easy to drive to this spot. They also have very clean restrooms. We didn't go in to the nature center, but that was pretty too. I liked that this park had a lot to explore. The water was low enough at one section for us to go to a little island in the middle of one lake. While not all the trees have their leaves yet, I image this is even prettier when everything is in bloom. It was a very serene and lovely place to explore.

This place has plenty of parking, lots of playground equipment, and (as the name suggests) three small lakes to walk around. It's worth noting that the main lake (closes to the park entrance) is where fishing is permitted and has the newest/nicest path as well. The middle lake is enjoyable though is a bit rougher. The far lake was damaged in storms in the past so some of it is pretty rough but still enjoyable to explore. I make sure to hit all three lakes every visit, though if you want a nice clean experience, stick to the main lake. The nature center is nice but fair warning: it's pretty small and won't take more than 10-15 minutes to enjoy in its entirety. Still, the staff member there tends to be nice and there are a few small animals in the little displays there. If you want a fun place to walk (especially if you have kids who like playground equipment), this is a great spot to do it. Overall: 5.0 stars ---- Pros: - Beautiful walking spot. - Pleasant staff. - Lots of free parking. - Fun (if small) nature center. - Plenty of playground equipment for kids. Cons: - It would be great if they fully re-built the third lake, though I suppose the rugged nature of it is part of the charm.

As you enter the you'll notice benches w/ seats - this is such a great area for catching up on your novel. This area will shade you from the scorching sun rays. I enjoyed reading a book and meeting locals. Most people came to fish, run, and for the scenic walk. The benches on the dock/walkway are metal so if you're planning to sit and hang bring something to lay over the metal before you sit - it may burn your bum!

The lake is 12 acres in size - small for a lake- but you can access all sides of the lake with a trail around the entire thing. The lake was created by a small reservoir and spillway that you can walk over via small wooden walkway. There is a single picnic shelter and playground. There is also fishing pier that reasonably holds 5-6 fishing persons. This lake is a popular fishing spot and I have consistently seen multiple people giving it a go whenever I have been here. Surrounded by housing and wooded areas, it seems like a safe place for a stroll and getting outdoors for a while.

The parking is easy. The only restroom available is a porta potty and only one from what I saw. There's a track section near the dog park for those who want to exercise as well as a little gazebo type of area for gatherings. The dog park offers little obstacle courses, potty stations with potty bags, and benches for owners to sit on while in the gate. All in all my dog enjoyed her time playing and socializing with other pooches! We shall return.

Decent hiking area in a Civil War battlefield. The path seems way too short, but most visitors are…read morehere for a history tour, not a nature walk. I finished the hike in just over an hour, and that was at a leisurely pace with lots of stops to take pictures. The beginning of the path has some dips, but overall wasn't especially strenuous. I'm not sure if there's a parking fee; there is a booth at the entrance but in February it was empty. The main attraction are the trenches dug by the Confederate army. They are surprisingly well preserved, and the path follows a small portion of them. It's hard to imagine what it must have been like 'in the day', but the history plaques give you some details to go off of. The Battle of North Anna was a relatively small scale affair compared to other Civil War battles. As part of the 1864 Overland Campaign, Grant's Army of the Potomac was pressing south towards Richmond, and Lee was doing his best to stop him. But Grant (despite stories to the contrary) actually disliked bloody frontal attacks, and was constantly trying to outflank Lee's army rather than attack an entrenched opponent. North Anna was one of those many occasions where he tried - and failed - to maneuver around the master of maneuver. On May 24, Lee's earthworks on the south side of North Anna river stopped Grant cold. He tested Lee's lines for a way around, including an assault lead by a brigade who's commander was as inexperienced as he was drunk (that is, very). Needless to say, it didn't work out too well for them. Lovely little museum and visitor center at the back of Crump Park…read more Inside the visitir center shows the history of Gabriel's Rebellion and the Sheppard Family of Henrico The visitor center is open daily, the Meadow Farmhouse is open by appointment only. There are live animals outside the Farmhouse.....not for petting or feeding! Henrico Parks and Recs offers lectures on VA and Henrico history and often meets here. We love walking through the park and often go to the lectures.

The museum of Meadow Farm here behind Crump Park is a lovely example of rural farm life in circa 1860. It's well-preserved and has distinct architectural significance of middle class living in that time period. The outbuildings are also well-maintained and the grounds are nicely manicured. At times there are festivals here where folks dress in period costumes and demonstrate candle making, basket weaving, etc. and a blacksmith quarters. There are also animals dwelling in the barns and pastures of this natural living farm. They have many activities and historic events, including a history of "Gabriel's Rebellion". There is usually a big July 4th celebration and other calendar events. This is a wonderful family park as there's lots of trails, picnic areas, a lake and other amenities. Don't miss touring this beautiful park!
