Sophistication is not in evidence, the air conditioning barely worked, there was rust in the shower and during a windy night the windows rattled slightly and made a howling noise. Travelodge does the basics well though, the location is great the onsite bar is fairly intimate and the staff were friendly and nice.

Had a Maltess 11month old puppy who has been house trained with us, and my husband & myself would visit there again. It is so very close to " Ezy Buy" a clothing store, and walking distance to the Kiwi Railcar Trips, also short walk to the Dairy, and a few minutes by car into the city. Your host Joan is just so lovely and helpful, we will be back.

The food flavors (not the portion size) are actually the positive here. It's the service that is very amateurish and unprofessional. Though the staff are all friendly and smiling, the waitstaff have no idea about customer service. This was demonstrated on three separate dining experiences. I won't bore you with the details. Notwithstanding, as I said the food was actually fairly good..... thus three stars rating, instead of two.

The staff appear to have changed - or maybe I have just never encountered them before. I make special mention of Kadie the receptionist and Jonathan who works in the bar. These two outstanding people contributed positively to my stay with their friendly, outgoing natures and willingness to accommodate special requests. I would recommend this hotel.

Stayed here while passing through Palmerston North from Napier to Wellington. I was a little…read morebummed because I tried to book a room through Expedia on my phone (advertised for $136/night) but had issues with my Internet connection. Front desk was unable to honor that price quote (paid $155/night) but the staff person was otherwise very friendly and helpful with getting us checked in. He let us look at 2 rooms so we could see what size was right for us and even bumped another booking to a different room so that we could have a room further back from the street. The rooms are very large. We got a standard room and it had a super king bed and a single bed, the spa bath tub, a table and 2 chairs and plenty of kitchen stuff (plates, fridge, cooktop, microwave and sink). We also looked at the one bedroom suite - it was enormous and on 2 levels. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again. We walked around the square and had dinner at an Irish pub about a block from here. This place is across the street from a mall and there are several eating establishments within a very short walking distance.

Very helpful staff here. Really went out of their way. Great place for long term stays.read more
