Was only there 1 night so didnt bother to ask for upgrade, but none was offered and I even contacted the hotel in advance of my stay (plenty of bigger rooms were still for sale day of check-in). There was also a significant amount of construction going on at the hotel that included drilling above my room. My room was a little underwhelming compared to what I had expected from the photos, but it was clean and comfortable for my stay. The Wi-Fi work just fine. The circular windows were interesting to look out of. The bathroom arrangement with the rising separator was interesting and unique. I ate at the restaurant in the hotel several times and the food was quite good and delicious. Walking from the hotel to the nearby park was convenient and felt very safe. Getting an Uber from the hotel to go to a nearby shopping mall into the airport was also very easy.

Walk in shower with toilet and sink with large mirror and a magnifying mirror on the side perfect for doing makeup or grooming. Note: in São Paulo you cannot put toilet paper in the toilet -the sewer system can't handle it. There's a wastebasket on the side for used toilet paper. Any additional amenities like an ironing board or heater (if you visit in winter it does get cold) the front desk will provide. Also, breakfast is included in most suites. Breakfast consists of pastries,meats,eggs,juices and milk. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well as a market. Business district is safe for tourists as long as you act normal and not flashy. Airport is nearby so you do hear planes overhead but it's not a nuisance. Two shopping malls are within walking distance. São Paulo is a beautiful place !!

Often times I've found beds in Brazil to be hard and not all that large (yeah, I know kids... that's what she said...) * Carries the Brazil tradition of having a stocked mini-bar containing snacks and drinks that were priced such that you don't need a home equity loan to finance a late-nite fridge raid. * Mostly clear pool on the roof. During a Sao Paulo summer, a pool is absolutely essential. * Great surrounding neighborhood, safe, with lots of bars and restaurants we enjoyed. Reviews to follow. * Friendly staff and good drinks in the lobby bar. * I think it was only about US$110 a night. When in Sao Paulo again, I'll stay here again. I'd be lying if I didn't say these stories left me concerned for my safety. I was arriving in São Paulo solo and meeting with my son later that night, hopefully. After much research I settled on the InterContinental where, for approximately $195/night including a beautiful daily buffet breakfast for two I believed my son and I would be less likely to fall victim to anything undesirable. Mission accomplished. The InterContinental chain of hotels is a leap above the places I generally stay. Research seemed to indicate it was a hotel for business people though not located in a solely business district. From what I could tell, it was located in a relatively safe area, in one of the nicest parts of São Paulo. Though the InterContinental clearly attracts many business people (airline captains too) pleasure travelers shouldn't hesitate to stay here. I found it to be one of the best hotel experiences I've had. Not only was it in a busy, upscale neighborhood but it's very close to the subway, MASP, and some of the best shopping and dining areas of SP. The hotel was immaculate and safe (the lobby area is watched closely, the elevator requires a room key, access to the pool does as well). The front desk staff and concierge were helpful, considerate, and spoke English. The bar area is lovely and doesn't gouge on prices. The breakfast buffet is unequaled: 6 different kinds of fresh fruit juice (including acai), omelets made to order, probiotics, fresh fruits, and even a Japanese breakfast (you won't really need to eat again until dinner). The room itself was well outfitted. The lush beds held every sort of pillow imaginable. The shower had great water pressure. A separate bathtub was enticing enough to lure me in. The room temperature was easily and accurately controlled and wifi was perfect. I was left with nothing to complain about. Well, perhaps. The day after his arrival my son decided to go for a swim in the rooftop pool we'd viewed from our 15th floor room. We arrived there only to learn that the entire thing was 2.5 feet deep which gave us both a good laugh. Objects in the window may be smaller than they appear. Still, the pool and sunning patio was immaculate and lovely. If I were a business traveler or air captain I'd happily stay here. But on my own dime, as a pleasure traveler? I'd definitely stay here. You can put me safely in the big, huge fan category.

Booked my trip via American Express which got me a late 4PM checkout, complimentary breakfast (outstanding buffet and cook to order options), complimentary spa visit (valued up to $150), and free dessert when paying with the card at any of the Fasano restaurants (inside the hotel and across the street at Gero). All the staff were great and the small gym is good enough for light workouts. Be sure to check out the pool with jacuzzi and steam room on the 21st floor--easy to miss. Of course, checking out live music at the Baretto Lounge is an absolute must. I caught some great acts during my most recent stay. I prefer the location and "established, refined elegance" of the Fasano to Rosewood, though the latter does have a larger/nicer gym, great spa and a members only SoHo House but it also attracts far more tourists whereas Fasano is in more of an upscale locals area of Jardins along with an attached high end mall (though Rosewood does have Cidade Matarazzo).

Naturally, there is quite a wide wine selection, which is heavy on Italy but also covers many other regions and grapes. I enjoyed the 2017 Carmenere, which paired beautifully with duck. The starter of asparagus soup set off the meal. While I'm normally not too big on asparagus, this soup nicely muted the harshness of regular asparagus while retaining just enough of the flavor to be perfect. The veal-stuffed pasta was divine! This isn't a preparation that I have seen too many places, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The veal wonderfully complemented the pasta itself and was a perfect portion size. My lamb and polenta main dish was a generous portion size, with the lamb being cooked perfectly. It was just great. We rounded things out with a beautifully presented dessert plate. From start to finish, this was a delightful, delectable experience.
