We had the calzone with jamon and ricotta - it was DREAMY. We also had our favorite Italian rose - a chiaretto from Bardolino near Lake Garda - which is very difficult to find in the US since the grapes only grow on the east side of the lake. The only disappointing thing was that we saw the owners give every other table a limoncello drink when they went up to pay (we watched 4 tables go up to pay and they all received it). My husband was super excited because he loves limoncello. But when we went up - no limoncello. Even though we ordered a pizza, a calzone, a full bottle of wine, two desserts, two coffees, and a large bottle of sparkling water. I also ordered fully in French...I know my French isn't the best, but I always try to order in French and they didn't need to ask any questions or switch to English so it's at a minimum understandable. In general, I feel that most restaurants in France I've been to appreciate the attempt - and in many places we've been to in the countryside, the restaurant staff don't speak any English - and I manage to get by. The only reason I can think of not getting offered the limoncello is because we are American tourists. If that's the reason, it's quite disappointing. When we travel to Italy, they always appreciate that we order in our (limited) Italian - and we often get offered a post dinner limoncello or glass of wine, and owners will often come over to chat with us because they appreciate that we order in Italian. Alas, despite these owners speaking Italian, they did not show the same warmth and friendliness we receive in Italy. Despite this disappointment, the food was delicious!

We didn't have a reservation, but they were completely accommodating and offered us a seat outside. It was a pleasant night, so we grabbed a bottle of red to enjoy. Food: Smash 1ER w/ Vegetarian Patty - they don't advertise it on their menu, but they secretly have a fantastic homemade veggie patty that can be added to any burger (my friend said it was better than her beef burger!). It's essentially a hybrid between a falafel and black bean patty with loads of taste and a light/crunchy texture. The bun was soft/fluffy and the burger sauce was a tasty way to prevent the burger from being too dry. Cheddar Fries - perfectly golden with some bits that are crunchy and others that are softer. The cheddar sauce was silky smooth with a tangy/buttery taste. It's definitely big enough to share! TL;DR - perfect lunch spot in Reims! Don't skip out on the homemade veggie patty!

We looked at a few places online while in the hotel room before dinner and at a few others as we wandered round the town earlier....this little place had a tiny menu but looked smart and there were a couple of good reviews Ok let's go there then...oh dear...on entering, the room was basically divided into 2 with a bar area in the middle. A waiter in the bar; a waitress at the back where there were a couple of tables with people already eating (regulars?). The waiter gestured to sit where we wanted. The music was loud We chose a table and sat down looking at the menu but the music was distractingly loud...and overhead! But looking up it didn't matter where you sat because the speakers set in the ceiling where everywhere We asked if they could please turn it down; which they did, but not so you would notice We perused the menu, looked at one another and immediately thought the same thing: poor welcome (well, to be accurate, no welcome showing any interest in the paying client - immediate bad marks!), unnecessarily noisy music (which actually turned out to be a radio and not a playlist), nothing attractive enough on the menu to warrant staying any longer than necessary - we put the coats back on and left Maybe they thought we were just your average tourist...but with both of us having a significant number of years in France, both fluent in French and fully experienced in the wiles of Paris waiters, we didn't need this - there is always somewhere better when you are the one paying Had a great meal at La Paix instead! When we entered we were greeted by our server and he said he spoke a little bit of English (actually it turned out to be a lot). He sat us at a beautiful table that was fully set with silverware, water and wine glasses. I felt a bit underdressed in my jeans and my hair was a mess from being under a hat all day. It didn't matter, the staff was very friendly anyway. At the table next to us there were four men dining in suits but in the back of the restaurant there was a table of two more weary travelers in jeans and coats. There is a coat rack just by the front door where you can hang your heavy coat. I would not recommend leaving any valuables here though. On the menu there are many reasonably priced meals ranging from around 12€ - 16€. The menu is also fully translated into English. Among our group we had a French Onion Soup topped with two crispy, cheesy pieces of bread, a plate of Steak Frites that had a sauce I don't think I'll ever forget (in a good way), a tender and succulent braised pork shank, and by accident the Tripes a La mode Caen. The dishes were just plain delicious, except for the tripes which I will not venture to rate as until yesterday I had never had it before. I think it was too exotic for anyone in our party to appreciate. Our server and possibly the owner watched us pick at the tripe dish in amazement from behind the bar and smiled. The service was quick and friendly and we were in and out in less than an hour. That gave us enough time to walk around Reims for a little longer before catching our tour bus. For what was such an elegant experience the prices were very reasonable. When we were finished paying by credit card at the table was no problem. We do have a chip on our card but it's set up for signature not pin. I only wish we had time to try the desserts as they had profiteroles on the menu.

The first night, we had "Rigatoni with Morels and Speck" and the "Penne al Gorgonzola and Bresaola". Both dishes were mind-blowing. We've travelled extensively throughout Italy and yet, as sinful as it is to say, our meals at La Villa offered some of the best Italian meals we've ever had. The next night I ordered the "Lasagna Bolognese with Veal, Morels and San Daniele ham" and my husband had the "Croustillant de Poissons aux Crevettes et Tagliatelles de Legumes". I didn't think it possible, but the lasagna was even more delicious than the Penne I had the night before. The service was professional, friendly, and attentive. They recognized us on the second day and remembered our drink order from the day prior. The waiter was kind enough to spoil us with a delicious house Limoncello after our meal. The decor was lush yet intimate and the seating was incredibly comfortable. I would highly recommend La Villa to anyone in Reims. A perfect ending to a perfect day champagne tasting! When we return to Reims, it's the first and last place we'll dine.

I ended up snagging one of these cancellation for my birthday, which was amazing! Racine does a single seating per evening, with only about 15-20 guests spread around tables at the restaurant. You are seated promptly, given a couple of options for a tasting menu, and offered both a by-the-glass and bottle wine list. Since we were in Reims, the by-the-glass champagne options were interesting and thoughtful, and we went with those rather than doing a wine pairing. The dinner itself is actually a series of individual bites of food, with each of the courses consisting of several different items. It was all absolutely beautifully designed, and the taste was phenomenal. The staff were exceptionally attentive, which is to be expected when there are only a few guests, and Chef Tanaka serves several of the courses himself, which was a nice treat. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite serene. It's a quiet place, it looks over a garden, and the tables are spread far enough apart to give a lot of privacy. It was a very relaxing meal overall. Despite the cost, I would definitely go back to Racine if I visited Reims and could get a reservation.
