We had a set meal for 2 people costing approximately $33. Tea and rice is complimentary. Basically we got 2 dishes consisting of Fried Pork Ribs and a Steamed Fish with a side dish of vegetables. The pork ribs were alright albeit pedestrian. The real kicker here is the Steamed Fish. It is gloriously cooked and seasoned without a hint of fishiness. I look around and notice that my fellow dining compatriots have discovered the secret of this too and most have this steamed fish on their tables. I haven't gone through the entire menu but I've also tried some of their seafood dishes which are still pretty good value for things like crab or abalone. Their eggplant in hotpot is also done very well. This has become my go to when I want a no-fuss and relatively cheapish dinner with quality food and cooking.

I was a little off put by the limited menu, but I discovered when I contacted them that if you have an unlisted favourite they will accommodate you. So, for only $40 I got three dishes and 2 rice, as they give you a 15 percent discount the first time you order from them. In addition my food arrived in only 35 minutes, was piping hot and the delivery guy was lovely. I've learnt not to judge based on a restaurant's name as Talking Tables Indian was as authentic as any other Indian I have had. Palak Paneer: Texture was bad, flavour was bland and they skimped on the cheese. When I added my own spice to the Palak Paneer, it improved dramatically. I'm afraid I was served the white version of the dish. I feel that if I ordered more stereotypical white choices, my meal would have been flawless. The service here is excellent.

So we searched for a spot where we could get both. I shouldn't have doubted him. The laksa here is as good as I've had anywhere else. It had the perfect amount of spiciness and a generous serving of seafood. The bowl was a good size, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and I finished every last drop of that delicious broth. And as it turned out, the owner's daughter is a former student of my cousin's wife. This netted us a small discount. Regardless, Tan Ky gets five stars from me.
