To be honest, at first I reluctant to go to yet another Italian restaurant, as you can find them left and right in every London hood: but in the end I was really glad I came: upon entering the simple, but not-cheap-looking trattoria, I was warmly greeted by the staff - which set the tone for my entire dining experience. When I had studied the menu, I asked - what seemed to be the owner of this place - if she could help me decide between two intriguing-sounding dishes: "Malloreddus alla Canpidanese" and "Culurigones". She announced that they were both traditional Sardinian dishes (which, by the way, is the default cuisine here) and she then asked me in her lovely Italian accent: Are you hungry? Me: Yes!!! She: Then I'd suggest you go for the Malloreddus. When my meal arrived I was flabbergasted by the sheer size of it: the portion was indeed very generous and it was exactly what I needed: pasta with a hearty meat-tomato sauce and a generous glass of house red! We were not advised of the issue until we had been there for about an hour, if they told us when we sat down we could have gone elsewhere. Also it would have helped if they offered a free glass of wine whilst we were waiting but nothing was forthcoming. It is a real shame as the food was lovely. The menu is sensational with fine choices from a range of ingredients. The food, while not plentiful is satisfying in quantity and simply divine in taste. The thng that really lets Bagatti's down, in my opinion, is that it's such a big, hard space, and there is nothing - no soft furnishings or anything - to absorb the noise. I do love melted cheese and this cholesterol-laden dish is up there with the best of them. For a main courseyou can take your pick, but their pizza is very good if you like the genuine article. Aside from the food what makes this place good are the following hit points: 1) It's not overly expensive 2) It's ALWAYS busy so you need to book, but it shows the success of the place 3) They're very child friendly 4) The entertainment The entertainment takes place upstairs and changes throughout the year. It consists mostly of 'Stars In Their Eyes' style soundalikes and though I've never been myself (I think it's more of a girly thing) my wife and friends have all highly rated it and had a great time. For dinner, they have a tapas style menu and we had: Stuffed red peppers with mozzarella on toasted focaccia with rocket salad Ricotta and spinach ravioli Beef and veal meatballs with red sauce Breaded cod with panzanella salad The food was good. The cod probably the best of the lot. It all tasted very homemade and like something you'd get if invited to an Italian's for dinner. Nothing was amazing but nothing was horrible either. Definitely a yelpie a-ok!
