The pupusas were solid, with a nice crispy texture on the outside and soft cheesy filling inside, and the food came out hot and fresh. The plantains were good too. The service was very friendly, parking was easy, and the whole place felt authentic with a nice crowd. Overall it was a comforting meal that hit the spot. For goodness sake! There should be a line waiting for their pupusas. Service is ok, you seat yourself and they bring you the menu. Ambiance is moderate no loud noise or music. You can enjoy the company you have. We ordered: Yucca and Chicharrón: 8/10 very traditional and what you expect. Corn tamales: I say it's like a 6/10- the center was cold still and not as soft as I would have expected it to be. Chechen tamale: 9/10 great all around, fantastic flavor and enjoyed every bite. this is a beautiful spot with a wonderful selection of pupusa's, agua Fresca's, the service is so sweet and the owner Doña Lola was so kind to come say hello to me this restaurant transports you to El Salvador in a way of authenticity with its pupusa's and fresh Cortito and salsa de Salvador I had a wonderful time trying their rice pupusa's, which is something I haven't seen and other local Dallas pupusa Reyes the amount of Larocco they put in the pupusa was perfect for me. It wasn't too much. It wasn't too little. I thoroughly enjoyed trying their pupusa Loca, which includes Chicharron Salvadoran or pork, Salvador and beans, black beans, Larocco and cheese they even have pupusa's to go, and I love that they have a beautiful logoon their products. Love the cartoon of Doña Lola. It's very adorable. Holy moly this place is so friggn good. And SO CHEAP! Just $3.50 for a pupusa. I couldn't stop grinning after eating here. A heads-up, their pupusas are HUGE. I thought it was tiny from the pictures but these bad boys are like 6-8 inches in diameter. You can't go wrong with any of them but I personally loved the jalapeño pupusa. When you come in, you can just find an empty table and one of the staff members will bring you menus to order. When you're done with your fabulous meal, you can go up to the cash register and check out. If you're a dope like me and don't speak Spanish, just point. The staff are so sweet and the atmosphere here is so lively with families laughing and enjoying each other's company. I will definitely be coming here more in the future. read more

Shocked that I could only find one mention of the 15% service fee added to every dine-in order. Though it is printed at the bottom of the menu, there's no explanation and they still ask for a tip when you pay. We've been here multiple times over the past few years and are usually happy with the taste and quality of the food (4 out of 5). Service is good, nothing special (3.5 out of 5). But we won't be coming back because we don't want to pay the service fee and then tip as well. Where does the service fee go? Do the servers get it? We could accept a small 3% fee for credit card purchases, but a 15% service fee is unreasonable. read more

I've been trying to find the best pupusas for some time and I decided to finally make my way to Pupusas Dona Lola. I attempted to place my order on their website but the site was down at the time, so I called in my order and got a spinach and cheese, bean and cheese and pork and cheese pupusa with extra curtido. By the time I arrived my order was ready. Everything looked and smelled so good, I liked that they provided a sufficient amount of curtido and salsa so extra curtido wasn't really necessary. My favorite pupusa was the spinach and cheese, I'd return for that one for sure but I didn't care for the flavor of the pork in the pork and cheese and the bean and cheese was good but nothing special. Since trying a few different pupusas around the metroplex, Dona is good but I've had better bean and cheese and pork and cheese pupusas elsewhere but that spinach pupusa is top notch in taste. The curtido and salsa was just ok, I wish the curtido had more spice to it and the salsa was on the mild side. Overall, I enjoyed the pupusas but it wouldn't be the first place I'd go If I was craving pupusas but I say still check it out. read more

I also tried the horchata, and it was sweeter than what I'm used to, so I couldn't finish the drink. The service deserves five stars as the staff checked up on us multiple times, ensuring we had a pleasant dining experience. One point to note is that water costs $0.50, and there were no refills. The pupusas are delicious, definitely try it with the masa de arroz. Also they have tamales pisques! So good!! This review is based on Saturday at 12:30pm. The service was slow because it took one hour to have our food ready to eat. I had the breakfast platter with scrambled eggs, cream, cheese, purée of beans, and sweet plantain. I'm not a cheese lover person so the cheese was not a hit for me. The cheese was too full of taste that I did not like but that's just me. The sweet plantain was perfection! I hated the horrible service since I was starving. I go back to look at the menu to order again and realized I should have not been charged as much as I was the day I first visited. 4 pupusas 3 coffees 2 tilapia plates 1 horchata wasn't 85 dollars. Never dine in they will try to trick you about their prices. Came here since my friend and I were craving Pupusas and they did not disappoint! The atmosphere is so clean and the staff was so helpful and friendly. We received quick service and ordered almost 1 of every Pupusas they had (tuna, garlic, zucchini, spinach, queso, camarón). Our standout favorites had to be the bean and cheese and garlic. (Embarrassingly enough) We went through about half the jug of curtido because it was so good and paired nicely with the pupusas, which are also pretty large themselves. I also recommend this for any vegetarian or gluten-free diners! When we asked they went to the back to check on the flour they use to make sure it was safe for me, which was so sweet. Been looking for a good pupusa place since I moved to Texas and I finally found my new favorite! We ordered revueltas and they are not stingy with their filling which I love AND the rice and beans are equally as delicious! We went on a Monday around 4pm and it wasn't too busy which was nice although I did notice they had a decent amount of take out orders and I was happy to see business was good for them. Where do I begin?! This little place is magical. Yuca- The pork with it is so delightful. Crispy outside and very flavorful Pupusas- Slight crunch on the outside and gooey center. We had the pork and cheese and bean and cheese. Corn tamale- We went with the fried suggestion with cream. Moist on the inside with pieces of corn throughout. Horchata- I love a good Horchata and there's is definitely in my top 3. Creamy with the perfect balance of cinnamon. The service is exceptional. Yikes. Very poor customer service. Placed an online order around 11am, for delivery at 1:45pm. Placed and paid for the order...and a little while later, I get an email (which thank GOODNESS I checked so that I could search for an alternative, since I was ordering food for my elderly father's lunch...)...saying that the order had been cancelled, with no explanation. No phone call, inquiring about the order and anything I may have done when ordering that would cause them to not be able to fulfill the order. There's just something so comforting about Salvadorian cuisine that makes me feel so warm and happy on the inside. I had a comfort food craving for pupusas and drove to the middle-of-nowhere part of Addison, but there is something great in the middle of that "nothing". Walking into the dining room you're sure to see families dining together over the table or one table talking to another. There's a nice sense of Salvadorian community here. I was definitely on the outside of the community but it can be expected since I don't speak the language or look like anyone else. I came here for one thing, pupusas. I knew before entering I wanted revueltas (pork and cheese) pupusas, an elote tamal (sweet corn), and platanos fritos with black beans and crema. It took quite a while for anyone to help me or even speak to me. I stood at the ordering counter for 10 minutes before I was acknowledged. I placed my order and was told it would take 20 minutes, and it did. Yes, that's a long time to wait, but the food was being made fresh. The food finally came out and was piping hot and smelled incredible. Once I got home and enjoyed my feast I couldn't have been happier. The pupusas were really incredible, and the cabbage slaw and sauce were excellent. I loved my tamal - it was huge and sweet. A little dry but I had crema so it helped out. The fried plantains were hypnotizing mixed with the beans and crema. The beans on their own were a bit bland but that's okay. Can't wait to try their food in-house and not to-go next time. read more

I have been looking for a good pupusa spot since I left New York. I've been here in Texas for 6 years now and all I can say is I am glad I found this spot. My parents were on vacation down here and decided they needed some pupusas. Having given up on the search, I googled a place near my job and found Doña Lola's. And I am glad I did! This was our first time having Salvadoran food, and the pupusas were fantastic! Almost like a soft corn tortilla pancake with fillings inside (meat is chopped up very small, and plenty of cheese), then there is something like a coleslaw at the table to put on them if you wish. The fried (sweet) plantains were also amazing. The service was excellent, head to the register when you are ready to pay, they keep your check up there until you are ready.
