They kept telling me a few more minutes every 10 mins and I missed my entire lunch break. If they were busy, it would've been one thing, but I was the only one waiting for food in the entire restaurant at 11am. This used to be my go to spot between appointments, and unless I call in an order, I will not be dining in anymore. The flavor is there and the tortillas salvadoreñas are a nice touch. However, the pupusas really steal the show with above average size and cheese that's quite authentic and rich in flavor. You will be FULL with 2-3 pupusas of your choice. My recommendation? Pupusas revueltas. Above average size and flavor also means above average price! Our service was adequate, the wait was nontrivial, and the exterior of the place is nothing to fawn over - but the moment you see those pupusas and their friends come rounding the corner atop their silver throne, everything else becomes background noise. *Everything* was delicious. The pupusas were brimming with flavor, and cooked beautifully. The plantains and desert plantain ball had the perfect touch of sweetness mixed with a crunchy outer shell. The yuca frita was so wonderfully crispy. One exception was that we weren't a huge fan of the chicken tamale, but we loved the desert tamale and empanada. And for those wondering... This was my first time eating Salvadoran food and it was excellent! First, the young man at the counter seemed to really be proud of the food and was so helpful in ordering and his service! I had a pork and cheese pupusa and the fried plantains with sour cream and cheese. Both were AMAZING! If I hadn't been so full I'd want to have tried more. The restaurant itself was clean and very well cared for. It was priced very fairly and I would recommend the cashew fruit juice. Fun fact: National Pupusa Day is celebrated in El Salvador the second Sunday every November. But, pupusas are so delicious I feel like they should be celebrated at least once a month, if not more. The paradise plate is our go-to here. The amount of food you get for $23 is plenty for 2 or 3 people + enough for leftovers! The pupusas really shine here (makes sense given their name) - everything else is just OK. The curtido is excellent and the staff is very friendly. Wow a bunga! Zing Zang Bangarang! Been in the process of travel and have barely eaten properly for days. While returning some equipment, my gps took me past the AUTHENTIC food delights that Denver has to offer. It sparked some great memories of the old East L.A. little hidden gems where you get the REAL papusas and empanadas. I thought about it all night on my empty tummy... So todayyyy...I tested out this little place right off the main drag. Tiny, no frills, Sunday family place with the little Teeky Bar on the side. As soon as you walk in, their delicious display of original Salvadoran baked goods are for sale fresh on the counter. Straight to the menu that is graciously in both Spanish and English up on the wall for easy selection. A lovely young bilingual lady at the counter asks me if I'm ready. I decided to taste a few, so I ordered three different papusas and a drink to go. I chose not to take up a table for my taste testing, but waited in a row of seating facing the counter. The sights and sounds and smells were delightful. A happy place. It's not fast food, so I patiently waited, not too long, for my order. Upon opening the bag, I noticed a small bag of slaw and another of sauce. LET ME TELL YOU...those papusas were perfection!! The edible flower and cheese papusa was heaven in my mouth. Now I'm a big wimp when it comes to spicy food, but I know what it should taste like. That slaw had my tongue tingling with fire. It's quite a delicious zinger to complement the heavenly find that is this little family spot. Nobody reads my reviews, but IF YOU DO, THEY GET FIVE STARS. This GEM of a place is just off Wadsworth and north of 6th. The have as big as your face papusas that you can slather with the most delicious HOT!!! red sauce that has enough kick to compliment the food and get the tiny beads of sweat going. I would definitely recommend the Revuelta, the chicken and the Loca papusas. They come with a bowl this fresh cabbage salsa that just adds this bite of crunchiness. It's like a slaw with a delicious bright taste to cut through the cheese and masa. Speaking of masa, let's talk about their tamals; the first Salvadorian tamal I had was very bland and unimpressive. To be honest, I had never had one so wasn't sure what to really expect. But, these tamals wrapped in banana leaves, come out steaming fresh, piping hot (actually all their food comes out piping hot; as it should) and you open this bundle up and see this custardy like masa, that encloses beautiful chunks of meat and other goodness. If you haven't had tamals from Central America, this would be the place to try them first. I know I wish I would have. On my second journey to this place, we decided to split the order of savory empanadas. they come four to an order. These amazingly orange bundles come out and if you put your ear up to them, you can hear them talking to you. The first bite is this crunchy, flakey orange crust that just crumbles into your mouth and dissolves behind the hot chicken and potato filling. I like to dip that pouch of goodness in to that red hot sauce I was talking about. After all this writing about this place, you would think what else could he possibly have to talk about? AHA! I have to tell you about something I have never even heard of, Cashew fruit juice! This is a juice that takes you out of Colorado. This sweet nectar is like a slight pineapple, slight passion fruit but not really?!?! You just have to try it. The flavor is also great at cutting the heat and is amazingly refreshing. But, let me take a minute to write about what really makes this place special; the people behind the counter. The employees here are genuinely kind. they want to make sure you enjoy your food and have a good time while you dine there. They like talking about their food because they are proud of what they put out. And to me, that's what really makes a place successful and that what makes their food shine. Found a restaurant we love in our new neighborhood! We split the Paradise Plate (~$22) and couldn't finish it. Best fried plantains and yuca fries I've ever had. The papusas were awesome and the empanadas were my favorite. A great option to try a bit of everything. Horchata was too sweet and a little fake tasting so probably won't get that again. I've been loving Pupusas Paradise in Aurora for years now. When I moved Edgewater, I was so excited to see one of my favorite restaurants had a second location. Almost nothing was the same. The Pupusas were grossly undercooked and actually rather soggy with extra oil. The tamales that are normally soft and succulent were also soggy and fell apart immediately. The fried plantains were also super soggy and dripping with oil. The only thing not dripped mg in oil were the empanadas and they were super salty. Also I called to ask a question, they told me to hold, out the receiver on the table or counter and never came back to it. I waited more than 5 minutes before giving up. Huge pupusas, with lots of variety, and a friendly staff. The entire menu has a huge selection of many different Salvadoran options, but so far I've only been twice for the big, fluffy, delicious pupusas. The curtido and salsa (non-spicy) are some of the best I've had in the Denver area. The also make plantain empanada, which are basically little donuts made from mash plantains, stuffed with a custard filling. This is a great addition to the west side dining scene. read more

The pupusas don't feel overly greasy, and the curtido and salsita are also great. For someone who hasn't had a pupusa before, 2-3 is enough per person, and our favorite is the revuelta (pork/beans/cheese). Delicious, huge pupusas! I ordered a cheese and a cheese mixed with chicharron pupusas, my partner ordered one of each of the vegan pupupas- a zucchini & a bean pupusa. All were so filling and delicious. The curtido that came with them was perfection. The marañon drink was a little too sweet for my taste but otherwise good. Lastly, we shared an order of nuegados which were just as delicious as everything else. Wow! These are the best Pupusas we've had ever! Big and packed full of flavor Pupusas with super tasty cabbage slaw and red sauce! The pork and beans and chicken and cheese were both awesome! It's made to order so it took a minute to get the food but it was totally worth the wait! Would be great for a lunch stop. Also the fried plantains were delicious and came with two types of cheeses. The horchata was sweet but very tasty flavor. Different tasting then typical horchata but worth the taste. My wife had the cashew juice and she loved it. I was feeling adventurous so I stopped in to the little unassuming building. I had never had a Pupusa before but expected something along the lines of an Arepa. They are different as the filling is mixed into the dough prior to cooking as opposed to having the dough on the outside and filling inside. Very tasty! I'll make a point to return. read more
