Got the vegan arepa and yucca fries and had somewhat conflicting feelings. The arepa was good, except it had way too much vegan mayo in it and it overwhelmed the flavors when you bit into a piece with it. That aside it was good. I'm not sure it's worth $11 considering it's mostly black beans, but it's worth a try if you have them tone down the mayo. The yucca fries were fried well, but they needed seasoning. I had a little bit of trouble finding this restaurant as I didn't know it was in a food garage/hall type set up. Once I figured that out I went in. The "Public Hall" was busy! The large parking lot was pretty full, around 12:00 on a Saturday, so that's not surprising. I ended up choosing the Patacon - instead of Arena Pan Arepa sandwich outer pieces - the sandwich outsides are made with fried plantains. I'd never tried one (anywhere) like that. I ended up having to put it in the refrigerator and ate it a day later warmed up. So, fresh is best but the sandwich still tasted good. read more

I have been struggling to find tasty food since relocating from the Bay Area some months back. I had just taken a YogaSix class at Edgewater, and thought about going over to the food stalls next door. I had the vegetarian arepas and my husband had the chicken salad arepas. I wasn't sure what to expect from his but it was surprisingly tasty. My vegetarian arepas was fantastic- huge portion and bursting with fresh flavors. We started with their patacones- (I hunk mozzarella sticks but better) very yummy.
