I FINALLY feel free to talk about my experience here as a Student athlete at IUN. So here it is. If…read moreyou plan on playing a sport here I suggest being careful. Both the AD's plus the head VB coach were very discriminatory. They don't care about Safety of their student worker or student athletes. Nor do they talk what they preach. I've experienced many uncomfortable situations involving a guy "stalking" me and many other students and SHELTON would go up to my friends that worked there at the time and deliberately tell them I was being dramatic and I wanted the attention and this and that. This was during the summer when No staff were around to even watch us or "work us" Sitting in the booth was my most scariest encounerment because no one was there except for the boy that would not leave me alone. Multiple texts were made to my bosses and they proceeded to say "you'll be fine" I left my shift early because of the fact i was Uncomfortable. I still feel silenced and hurt to this day because I poured my heart and soul into my AD's and they turn around and betrayed me. I was big on supporting student athletes. I was in charge of a task my Assistant AD told me to do. I did exactly that and realized an athlete who had perfect GPA since the minute they came to IUN until the minute they left did not get the award as deserved. I was told i was out of place and was told to stay out of business where business was placed in my hands. The level of disrespect created made me hate this place. Therefore if u plan on being a student athlete here of color. Think twice about your choices. I hope these Pity AD's see this and simply reflect on themselves to DO BETTER and TAKE BETTER CARE OF YOUR STUDENT ATHLETES. A year later of me graduating and I still hold his guilt not opening my mouth saying what I had to say even knowing what i was to say or do would be shut down in an instant. Anna, Shelton and Alondra. Do. Better. And don't even get me started on VB coach Alondra. Flat out terrible, disappointing, and sad, follower, shows favorites, shows her true colors, discriminatory towards those who are not white or mexican. Do. Better.

PNC is the preferred destination. IUN faculty give out not only "straight A's" but "straight…read moreA+'s." Some don't even use a textbook. This is pathetic. Your degree will NOT be worth the paper it's printed on. If you want an IU degree, go to IU-Bloomington. IUN is a joke...

My issue is with the financial aid office. I have been back and forth with them for a whole month &…read morethey have yet to release my financial aid to my new school. I've done everything I've needed to only to be told by the financial aid office that it was "done". Then to contact my new university for them to tell me they cannot use my financial aid as to Ivy Tech still hadn't updated the COD website (website used my universities as info as to what college is utilizing financial aid). It's been a whole month. I called financial aid office in East Chicago I believe. The receptionist had me transferred to Kimberly Cloud. I want to be sure everyone is aware of this person, she was extremely rude and only confirmed why I should of switched universities a long time ago. When asked to send a document to my email she said "can you just take my email down and email me so I don't have to write yours down" when asked if I could speak to a higher manager she ignored my request. Apparently financial aid doesn't keep track of when they speak to their students because she told me she had "no record" of conversations I've had with the financial aid office when I literally have reference numbers in my email of when I did. Here we go a little over a month and they have yet to do what's needed so I can use my financial aid at my new school. Such trash this place is. If I could give less then one star, I would. It's disgusting how they treat people and how lazy their financial aid office is. They're quick to collect money but when you need it elsewhere there's no one to help you. Disgusting and trashy facility.

I often received emails that are tailored to me and not the entire student body. This is a fine level of service. On the academic end, the courses have been rigorous and the instructors have been very qualified and knowledgeable. They seem to be experts in their respective fields. Many schools have tenured professors who are out of touch with their own fields. The professors here seem to know their stuff. The "vertical" school as they term it is clean and modern. The parking lot is large so parking is not a hassle. There are nice areas for students to relax and food is available. Returning to the business aspect of higher education, I have a doctorate degree from another institution and that school was excellent. However, they were always very aggressive in collecting tuition and fees. Here the college works with the students and tends to avoid the threatening demand letters. Ultimately, the school has to get paid and you will not graduate without paying your balance. It's nice though that the school doesn't send out the goon squad because you haven't cut a check for a technology fee or overdue library book. I have about a year left here and I look forward to it. I would not hesitate to recommend Calumet College of Saint Joseph to anyway looking to further their education.

Was just a kinda lame college, they should just get better, no decorations, looked bland and mid.read more

For this year's Spring semester I was blessed with the opportunity to turn a dream into reality. I attended Prairie State College over two summers while earning my undergraduate degree. Therefore, I was very familiar with how to navigate through the building. What a beautiful space, so many upgrades since I attended. All the staff as well as the police officers were so nice and welcoming. Prairie State is an affordable, public community college. The school offers a variety of courses over several disciplines, both in person and online. Surely, there is something for everyone. I worked in the Early Childhood Center with a cohort of twenty-five. The goal was to help the students earn the Child Development Associate. There were many layers to teaching this course. Having a dean with a heart of gold, truly invested not only in the program but the students was a great help. The dean was also invested in the team she hired to do the job. Being a College Professor has been the most rewarding experience I have had this year. Thank you Dr. Ty Jiles for such a priceless opportunity. Looking forward to working with you again.
