I filed a small claims court suit against Phil and won the judgement but he did not pay the settlement during the timeline designated by the court and made no arrangements to pay me back. I am posting this review to warn consumers about Phil Reed and his company, Reed Builders, Bellaire, Michigan. It was hard to find any reviews except testimonials on Reed Builders when checking him out. I hope this will prevent other potential customers and senior citizens like myself from getting involved with Phil Reed.

ASAP roofing gave me a quote for my cottage and shed with porch roof…read more They came out, climbed on the roof to see what had to be done and also seen the roofing material that was there for them to put on. The men did a decent job of putting the roof on, but did not clean up. They said that since the snow was starting they would finish the shed and porch in the spring and clean up all the old roofing then. Unfortunately, the owner sent a bill that was for more than the quote that was for both buildings with the other building not being finished yet. It came as a shock. I had to ask a lawyer what to do. He said to pay them less for not finishing the job. So, that is what I did with a letter of explanation and complaint. They had promised to clean up the old roofing material they left all around the property. They also promised to use a big magnet to clean up the nails. This took over seven months to get them to do and they never cleaned up the nails as promised. After sending message after message to get them to clean up the mess. The owner then said I never paid, but I did!!! And, again, he never cleaned up the nails. And only after threatening to warn the public did he send a message that he wanted to finish the job of roofing the shed and porch. The public needs to be aware of his business practice to avoid the hassles I went through.

Hometown is an awful company. Since I had a DTE home warrantee, DTE selected them to do service on…read moremy refrigerator. The technician had no clue how to open the front panel. He was so lost that he had to "you tube" how to get access to problem area. Finally he said he would order the damaged part, after two weeks of no response, I called them. They never got back to me. DTE called them, they never got back to them. This went on for a total of 8 calls with no call back on status. Finally, I had to get DTE to authorize another company to come out and repair my refrigerator. They found and fixed the problem. Hometown totally misdiagnosed the issue. Hometown was a total waste of time.
