We were in Vermont for the July 4th holiday weekend and were glad to find a new and resonablly priced antique store in the Kingdom. Located in a former Ben Franklin, with the old oiled hardwood floors, this store has over 60 consignment booths that are all cool and interesting. From housewares to furniture, milk stools, maple sap taps, artwork, antique kitchen stoves, and collectibles decorate the modestly well kept store. My finds: A large square aluminum skillet and a cast iron fry pan both for my camper. Open year round, closed Wednesdays and Sundays. 10:00- 5:00 daily.

The husband and wife team that run the shop know their stuff and are pretty accessible. My wife and I go a couple times a year and usually leave with something groovy and cool. And if they don't have something you are looking for and they come across it later, they are quick to reach out to you if you let them know. The store is located in a well kept barn down the street from the fair grounds (near Ocean State Job Lots). It's a pretty traditional set-up inside for an antique shop. Better than a yard sale, more affordable than an antique store, Houston's fills the bill if you need a barely used sofa, dining room set, table or bookshelf or selected tableware and decorator items. You do have to be willing to dig through the contents of multiple outbuildings to find your treasures. Be sure to go out back after checking the contents of the main barn - the long building reached through the alley is full of more choice items. Even better, you can sell your outgrown furnishings to the Houstons and know they will live on and be appreciated and enjoyed in someone else's home. My sister furnished a whole vacation home from Houston's and it looks great. Worth the time to keep an eye on the treasures that arrive at random intervals. Houston's Furniture Barn is a community resource.

Owner proceeded to "look me up" on his computer and announced the charge was $301.00! I was stunned and asked exactly what was done to the clock to arrive at this charge. He told me he did an "overhaul". I told him I never requested this. In response to my shock and disbelief he told me he would cut me a deal and only charge me $30.00! Brought home clock and it is not keeping proper time. I WOULD NOT recommend this repair shop!
