Today, while I was headed to one in particular, I drove by Willow Tree Antiques & Primatives, located off Buck Mountain Road, in Roanoke, Virginia. And on my way back I couldn't help but to make a stop there. After being awarded the Yelp NC Triad Squad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, celebrating their contributions and accomplishments throughout the year, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Willow Tree Antiques & Primatives, in Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. Inside the establishment I was able to meet the owner of this family-owned and operated business. Robin Barker is a friendly, elegant, and hospitable lady, who explained how she started the business in 2015, and now the two floor building, 20,000 square foot building, haa around 100 vendor booths, offering a diverse selection of antiques, collectibles, primitives, vintage furniture, unique jewelry, rustic home decor, and hand-made items, just to name a few. As I walked through the establishment, I noticed the many unique one-of-a-kind quality items in very good condition. They were well organized in nice clean vendor booths spaces. Right now many of the items had to to with Christmas and the Holiday Season, but I was told the vendors rotate their seasonal pieces throughout the year and keep their other pieces year round. I only had an opportunity to visit the first floor because they closed at 5:00pm. But I observed many of the items very closely, and purchased a souvenir greeting card with a photograph of the Roanoke Star. This gave me the idea of marketing some of my photographs in this way, and I would use this as a sample of how I can make them and the wording to put on them. After I paid for the greeting card, that by the way all of the items sold here were reasonably priced, I made plans for returning another day to view the items on the second floor. I could either park in the parking lot of this floor and walk the stairs to the second floor, or park in the parking lot of the second floor and be right there. I would highly recommend you too visit this establishment when you have time. At least the many items there will be a treat to your eyes. And who knows, maybe you'll end up coming out with something meaningful to you.

They also have a dressing room, so you can try on your potential purchases. Mountain View Mercantile also sells newer things, like jewelry, bags and accessories made by local artisans. You'll also find a carefully curated collection of home goods, knickknacks, tchotchkes, thingamajigs and ephemera that you didn't know you needed, but now you suddenly can't live without. The people who work here are super kind and helpful! This is a very pleasant store to shop. And bonus: It's located within steps of other antique stores, so you can make a whole afternoon of visiting vintage stores.

Locally owned since 1995, their Flagship Showroom covers 10,000 square feet of the highest quality American-made and some fine-quality import furniture, mattresses, and accessories. I happened to discover their store one evening after coming back from watching a movie at the Historic Grandin Theatre, walking down the sidewalk of Grandin Road. The store was closed at that time but I remember looking inside their store windows and seeing some of the nicest, fine craftsmanship and beautifully designed furniture that I had ever since in a while. And I know a little about genuine luxury furniture. During the time I went to college in Boston and Cambridge, I took some elective courses in the History of Art and the History of Furniture. Then after years passed, when faced with furnishing my reasantly purchased five bedroom house, I researched and studied the highest quality brands and had my living room sofa custom made at Century Furniture. Soon afterwards, the night that I was exposed to this furniture store, I had an opportunity of visiting the store in person and meeting with the extremely nice owners who personally hand-select the high-quality American-made fine furniture and accessories. I also had an opportunity of meeting and talking to some of their knowledgeable sales staff and interior designers, who were also very friendly and kind. I invite all those reading this review to look at my photographs accompanying this review and see for yourselves the beautiful future they have on display. And then go give them a visit. From all that I have seen and experienced, I highly recommend this furniture store for all those looking for high quality, genuine wood furniture, with fine craftsmanship, and beautiful design. We needed a bed and frame, however during the pandemic it was generally difficult to get a firm delivery date. With my brother coming for a visit, they loaned me a bed and frame for the needed time, then picked up the loaner when the bed we had ordered arrived. They will definitely get my future business.

Some people complain it's dark, and it is, but the switches are obvious and regulars know to operate them. We don't mind because it saves energy- a truly Floyd mindset.
