In Pursuit of Excellence I am so grateful for Pursuit Therapy and particularly Ms. Maryann Daniels, PT, MCNT, IDN Two months after I had a total knee replacement, I had a slip and fall accident and ruptured the quadriceps tendon on my other knee. I've suffered from migraines since I was a young child, and after having children of my own, they returned in a completely different and debilitating way. A Truly Life-Changing Experience -- They Saved Me From Surgery. I first came to see Dr. Ron Miller at Pursuit Physical Therapy after months of terrifying, disabling pain that began suddenly in December 2024. It started as a sharp, stabbing pain in my lower back that came out of nowhere--I had never experienced anything like it. The pain eventually shifted into my right hip and lower back, lingering through January-July 2025 while I was doing a weight-lifting fitness program. It never fully went away, but I was able to function. Everything changed in August-September 2025. The pain returned ten times worse. Those months were an absolute nightmare. I could barely sleep, waking up multiple times a night in agony, sometimes feeling almost paralyzed in the mornings. I couldn't lie on my sides, and I would drag myself out of bed every day just hoping the pain would subside enough to get through the morning. I am an obese 67 yo male with very pronounced diastasis recti (DR), from essentially my sternum to my naval. This is prominently demonstrated when I lay on my back and the crowning approaches 2 inches. From what I have read, this abdominal weakness can be corrected with core strengthening. I researched physical therapists in my area that had a good understanding of this phenomenon and Pursuit Physical Therapy appeared to have the best qualifications and reviews. It was important to me that I perform exercises that were beneficial and not detrimental to this condition. My goal was to have this completely resolved within a year. I met with Mrs. Maryann Daniels. Maryann is quite pleasant, has experience with men with DR (not just post-pregnancy females), and was patient and thorough in evaluating my personal situation. After completing her initial evaluation, we immediately started various exercises and stretching with a focus on proper abdominal bracing, breathing and weight management (bands, dumbbells and kettle bells). Maryann provided detailed descriptions of the motions to be performed at home via email with links for videos to help with form. She was always available for follow-up or questions in between our weekly sessions. Over a few weeks' time we began to evolve our methods, exercises and priority of focus based upon my progress and abilities. After approximately six weeks I discussed moving from the home environment into the gym environment as I wanted to join my son in working out. Maryann fully supported and encouraged this. We reviewed each exercise, on either machines or with dumbbells and a bench, and discussed the benefits and risks of each toward improving my condition. I would give the trainers and education a 5 star rating. I would give the billing system a 1 star. This is the only physical therapy company I know of that will charge your insurance for each individual exercise you are instructed to do. So each visit was charged differently, I thought therapy was billed for the time they spent with you, not if I did jumping jacks that day and a sprint my insurance was billed for 2 different therapy. I had been asking from the get go what was going on with insurance and found out that they did not have the correct number in the computer which caused a delay into finding out that this was their billing practice and ended up with a high balance by the time billing was corrected. My opinion would be completely different had the billing practice was explained at the first visit. I walked away feeling they took advantage of insurance billing and I ended up paying a large bill. read more

I am here to talk about MaryAnn Daniels from Pursuit Physical Therapy. Her work has given me my life back and continues to every time I see her. I started seeing her about 2 months ago after I was suffering in debilitating nerve pain down my left shoulder and arm for over a year and a half. I went to every Dr possible and had 6 cervical epidurals in one year to help with pain which was only shortlived because it actually wasn't my neck. All the orthopedic and neuro surgeons kept saying that I needed surgery. But yet said they couldn't confirm what disc the issue was coming from. I had a complex surgical procedure after which I began suffering from painful sciatica. After a web search for providers who work with sciatica patients, I found Pursuit Physical Therapy (PPT). My therapist was Maryann, and she immediately began attacking the problem. After a couple of sessions, the pain was noticeably reduced and by the beginning of the fourth session was gone completely. It has now been more than two months since I worked with Maryann and thankfully the pain has not returned. Even though I came in for a sciatica problem I was so impressed with my progress that I asked Maryann to look at one of my shoulders which, for quite some time, had been causing much discomfort. It was determined I had frozen shoulder. After a few sessions, Maryann was able to free the shoulder and increase its motion significantly. Besides being incredibly happy with the results I was able to obtain at PPT there was one additional item which was important to me. Unlike every other PT organization I have ever worked with, during my one-hour appointment at PPT, Maryann worked with me and me alone. Her entire time was spent with me for the full hour. This is far more effective than the traditional model where your therapist might be working with you but, at the same time, an additional patient or two. I was recently treated by Kayla at Pursuit for recovery from rotator cuff surgery. I chose to come to Pursuit specifically because of Kayla's reputation for patience, creativity, and ability to get you to do things you don't think you're ready to do. She more than lived up to her reputation! I am nearly 12 months out from surgery, but my recovery has been hindered by several family crises that distracted me from my initial PT program. Kayla listened carefully to me as I described the discomfort and range of motion (RoM) limitations I've been experiencing. She then (gently) poked and prodded me across my entire upper body, paying attention to parts I didn't think could be involved (e.g. my neck). As a result of her assessment, Kayla has focused her efforts on loosening my extraordinarily tight neck muscles (who knew?!), gently but steadily challenging me to extend my RoM and simultaneously begin to strengthen my atrophied arm muscles. The work is hard, but Kayla makes you believe she won't ask you to do anything you can't/shouldn't do. And, she knows just when to give you a break and massage your aching muscles. Caring. Thorough. Professional. Dedicated. Expert. Effective. These and many more superlatives are well-deserved for Kayla (my primary therapist) and the team at Pursuit who've helped me recover from a complex series of back and hip issues. I shudder to imagine where I'd be health-wise if I hadn't found Kayla. Starting with basic exercises, she helped me rebuild my strength and muscles, especially my crucially poor core strength that lay at the root of my problems. Over time, she added many and varied (and more challenging!) exercises, also branching out to other problematic muscles, such as my glutes, performis, etc. Over the decades, I've had a LOT of PT, but never before PT that was so helpful and so lasting in its effectiveness. One reason for this: Kayla not only 'gave a man [me] a fish,' she taught me to fish, encouraging and helping me to develop a consistent home exercise program. I had been experiencing back pain for a few months. I went to both my chiropractor and massage therapist a few times to specifically work on this pain and unfortunately it did not go away. I went to see Pursuit Physical Therapy for Hip pain. I've had pain for about 5 years, just thought it was nerve damage from a surgery. The pain got worse and worse. So after having an MRI done, the doctors said I had a labral tear. I wanted to go to someone who specializes in athletic therapy, because to me this was a sports injury and I tend to be a very active person. Not being from the area, we Googled Physical Therapist near me and we found a few, but Pursuit Physical Therapy looked the best from Reviews. So we went to the webpage and checked out their training and were excited about the training they had. I've done therapy before and from the start I was amazing. I emailed on the weekend and got a response back on the weekend. It shocked me, in a good way. On my first appointment Dr Martin took the time to sit and listen to my issues. Mind you I was hurting so bad (I had a cortisone injection right before going). It was a rough start, but Dr. Martin was awesome! After a couple visits we decided it was more of hip flexor issues. AFter about a week and a half I was back up to 10K steps a day and a half hour every other day of Pickleball. Had some bad days because of overdoing it, but that was my fault. Lol Due to not being from the area and having to leave before my 8 weeks. Not 100% better yet, but I am getting there. I did just do a 3 mile hike in Kentucky with no issues! I'm so glad and lucky that I found Ron at Pursuit Physical Therapy. A family member of mine recommended that I see Ron. I travel over 1:30 h to see Ron, and he is sooooo worth it. Ron is extremely knowledgeable, flexible, highly dependable, truly and genuinely cares for his patients, he puts the patient first, he understands and listens and works really hard for your best interest all while keeping you happy and comfortable. And provides excellent customer service. I know over 7 other people that went to Ron and they all agree that he is uniquely excellent in his field and that they are permanently pain free with his help. I went to Ron for two very different conditions, first condition was 4 years ago (2016) and the second condition was this year (2020). The first: I had been suffering from server and chronic lower back pain for OVER 10 years, it's so painful that my right leg would feel numb sometimes, and the pain would wake me up at night crying. I've seen so many doctors, ALL the types of chiropractors, I've traveled to "so called" experts to have a normal life where I could walk again without limping, I also tried acupuncture, massage therapist, you name it! Some of them made it worse and some helped temporarily, but my Symptoms continued to torture me and my pain was increasing as more time passed. A family member recommended that I go see Ron, and by then I was tired of being everyone's guinea pig, so I refused but I'm so grateful that she pushed me to go and actually took me by the hand and went there. His excellence didn't stop there. The second: A couple of years later, I got Carpal Tunnel on BOTH my hands, the pain was so bad that it extended to my hands and forearms. I went from doctor to doctor (over 6 doctors, did an MRI, had an x-ray, had massages ... etc). The last doctor was a very good hand orthopedic that had really good reviews, he recommended that I go for physical therapy with someone that he recommended at Select Physical Therapy, and although I felt improvement with her (going twice a week for 2 months). I chose to go to her cause my copay with her was cheap. Overall, I was improving but I barely improved, it was very slow and gradual. By the time my subscribed sessions ended. I still couldn't use my hands and I still had 70% of the pain left. My family member reminded me of Ron again, so I decided to invest into going back to Ron. After all, these are my hands! I couldn't work or do anything without them. And I didn't want the risks that accompany the surgery that coulD have fixed the problem. Anyhow, boy was I lucky that I did, (two weeks of once a week sessions with him and a home program) and all my carpal tunnel symptoms were gone. I was referred to Maryann at Pursuit Physical Therapy from a close friend of mine who has been dealing with back and neck pain for several years. I had a diagnosis of a degenerative cervical disc and was having severe upper back pain and a lot of tingling down my left arm. Maryann took over and started my treatment on day one and I was feeling immediate relief on the car ride home. She gave me some tips on posture and driving, which really helped my upper back pain immediately. I received some dry needling and other forms of treatments that relieved my painful symptoms very quickly. I was referred to Dr. Fabrick by a friend. He has great knowledge of sports injuries. I play tennis and while on the court I tweaked my knee which later caused pain when walking. He told me I was using my knees too much and not hip strength. At the first visit with Dr. Fabrick, he examined, put me through some exercises and determined the injury. It was a mal tracked patella due to a tight thigh and weak hip. He at that time created a plan to strengthen the hip and lessen the thigh tightness. He gave me exercises and stretches to do at home and at therapy. Pain went away pretty quickly with therapy. I was impressed with the purposeful plan Dr. Fabrick created. And I appreciated that there was an end to therapy in sight although he encouraged further exercises at home. He was so personable and I really enjoyed my visits with him. I started at Pursuit for hip/back pain that I have had for over 8 months. Jessica was very detailed with her evaluation and explained findings and causes for my pain. I injured and then re-injured my upper back/neck working out to the point that I could barely turn my head to check my blind spot while driving. After taking 2 months off from any weight training a friend of mine recommended Ron Miller at Pursuit Physical Therapy. He said he had a great experience with them, that they worked with him outside of insurance and that they were reasonably priced and well worth the cost. I was sold. On my first visit I was very impressed with Ron's knowledge of the body and how seemingly unrelated muscles and joints (unrelated as far as I knew anyway) could have an impact on others. After going over a few things, setting my baselines and doing some stretches and exercises, Ron gave me a home workout plan for the next week. He also told me he thought he'd have me pain free in 6 sessions. It only took 5. Going to Pursuit has truly changed my life. After quickly addressing my initial pain complaint, Ron worked with me on some other chronic pain issues I'd had for at least a decade (left shoulder and lower back) and alleviated those as well. The unique treatment for each area I needed help with was nothing I had ever experienced before with techniques I hadn't heard of. I've been in pain for longer than I can remember. I've suffered from back pain for years since I was 18. In 2016 I injured myself and ended up having to have small parts of bone removed through laminectomy surgery. After the surgery the nerve pain was reduced but I still suffered. Dr. Michael Fabrick brought me back from facing serious spinal fusion surgery and got my pain level down from a 9 to a 0 in less than 6 weeks. I've suffered with severe headaches/migraines for over 10 years. I've been to 3 different chiropractors and 2 neurologists and an oral surgeon. I've been to the ER and had multiple MRIs and CTs. I've tried several different diets and supplements. Not to mention all of the different drugs the Drs have tried on me. Some of them with terrible side effects. I went to Pursuit Physical Therapy for the treatment of Plantar Fasciitis. I had been seeing another large well known physical therapy group for over a month but my pain was getting worse (a lot worse) and therefore I was afraid that surgery would be in my future. Ron's office was totally different. He did a thorough evaluation of my pain and what might be the cause of the problem. What makes his practice so unbelievably different is the one-on-one treatment time. Ron literally is working with you for an hour and only you! At the previous group I went to, the therapist saw 3-4 people at a time. With Ron, I was the only patient and his focus was 100% on getting me back on my feet (pun intended!). He found treatment paths to success that I was comfortable with and he had a very methodical plan to get me back to being pain free without surgery. I also appreciated his texts in between appointments just to check in and see how I was doing. In one month I went from a feeling of despair (due to poor treatment practices of previous therapist) to knowing that I would become pain free. I've heard of people suffering with plantar fasciitis for a year or even more but Ron had me back to my normal workout routine in only 4.5 months. It would have taken even less time if I had gone to him first instead of the other place. While getting treated for the plantar fasciitis, I also managed a slight tear in my rotator cuff. Again, Ron went thru a healing and strengthening process that had me back to daily lap swims in just a few weeks. I enthusiastically recommend Ron and Pursuit Physical Therapy. I would also recommend starting treatment as soon as you have pain. My healing time took longer because I waited, thinking it would get better and then when I finally went to get help, I unfortunately started with the wrong physical therapy group. I was 5 weeks away from testing for my black belt in taekwondo with my 9 year old daughter. It was our dream and goal to do so together. We had been training for 32 months. I injured my knee, possible micro tear in a ligament and swelling, pain, loss of movement and unable to bend it. Every movement was painful. I was referred to Katie and Pursuit by a friend who was also a PT. The entire experience has been pleasant and positive. The day I called they happened to have an opening for an evaluation. I loved the electronic information and care expressed over the phone. I also loved what I read on their website about not being a typical PT....and they were interested in helping with root causes and not just treating the symptoms. I knew this could be a good fit for me. The evaluation was thorough and I was treatment began that session too! Each session afterwards was handled with professionalism and care. Katie took time to listen well and ask appropriate questions. She explained what she was doing and why and answered my numerous questions. She tailored treatment to my needs each session and was very focused on both functionality and being able to do the specific movements needed to test for black belt. I loved getting the home exercises by email and with videos. And they are focused on root causes and everything surrounding proper body functioning and healing. We discovered that there were several issues from my ankle to my hip -with connective soft tissue and muscle loss. She worked on it all! I did see progress right away. I stuck with her recommendations and after 4 weeks of PT and I earned my black belt with my daughter!!!! I continued sessions because I was not done healing. I still needed to strengthen and build up endurance. Again she knew just what to do to make that happen. I finished my last session and I am honestly sad to not be going back as it was all so beneficial and pleasant. I am at about 90-95 percent and can now continue taekwondo, ride my bike, do my yoga stretches, climb stairs and fully extend and bend my knee (none of which I could do before). I am almost completely pain free and look forward to continuing the home exercises and putting into practice what I learned to strengthen.
