Dr Winston proceeded to inject my trigeminal nerve with a freezing agent without discussing it with me other than a cursory few comments. He had the syringe ready before he even saw me based on his student's interpretation of my history. This was not informed consent, which I didn't have. In 1980, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled, in the landmark case of Reibl v. Hughes, that patients should be told what the doctor intends to do, as well as what the significant material risks are, and anything else that a reasonable person in that patient's condition would want to be told. I suffered extreme pain and permanent damage to my nerve and temporal mandibular joint. Beware of Dr Winston and Shelbourne Physiotherapy for their association with a doctor who doesn't believe in informed consent. This was the worst medical trauma I've ever experienced.

Jennifer, the physio, is relaxed, knowledgeable, friendly, and really knows her stuff. Even when it is hopping in there, you get the sense that she is taking the time needed to treat your injury properly. Actually, the whole clinic is a nice combination of relaxed and professional. IMS is not for everyone, since it involves sticking acupuncture needles into sore muscles. But it works like a hot damn.

I have been diligently working on the exercises and am looking forward to going back and to trying to sort this out without surgery. Apparently Marcia is trained in accupuncture and has various other certifications. Also, she was a formed national swimmer and rower and even had a similar shoulder injury to mine, so could relate. However one thing you should know if planning to come here, is that they regularly increase their rates - going from $110 to $118 to $125 per hour for massage services in less than the 18 months I've been coming here. Now keep in mind, I understand inflation, increased costs, etc... So its not the price increases I have as much issue with (although the frequency seems extreme especially given the fact my insurance coverage hasn't increased in that time)... My main issue is the fact that they increase their prices with ZERO communication being sent out. So one month the price is one thing and then you come in for another scheduled appointment and suddenly they start charging you a higher rate without a word of mention. It wasn't until after I tapped my card for payment that I noticed the increase. In what world is it not standard practice to inform customers - especially if they have services booked - that the prices are increasing? A simple email would solve this problem but instead they just assume all is well and leave it to the admins at the front desk who have to deal with explaining it after the fact? Lucky for this place I like my current massage therapist - because their ethical business administration practices are seriously lacking.

Poor customer service. I called to cancel and left a…read morevoicemail and then 2 minutes later and called me back saying I'll be charged 1/2 price due to not been able to replace my spot and short notice. So I said "I'll try to come because I do not want to be charged for nothing". I show up and waited for 12 minutes and notified by front desk that they recieved my voicemail last night cancelling my appointment. This only means voicemails are pointless while in fact they've called me 2 mins later last night. Voicemail should have been deleted. So in short they've cancelled me, so shall we apply cancellation fee as well as a client? I get it when a short notice cancellation fee will be applied. But their communication shows how they recieved voicemails should have been reviewed and deleted so others will not be getting informations that was already dealth with. Getting ready and showing up early expecting to have your appointment ready as well. There's no excuse of that effort showing up to your appointment but a disappointment! I suggest a clearer transfer of communication be more observable than being more concern on short notice cancellation policy.

She made more progress on these than five other practitioners I've seen for them (all good, in various specialties -- physio, massage, rolfing).
