This is our corner pub. Stop by anytime for brunch, late lunch, dinner or after work beer before heading home. Tons of character and great food. We had guineas beef pie special and it was just delicious. 3 stories building and there is another car in the 2nd floor. This is a classic pub with good food located conveniently to the Lyric Theatre. If you don't want to get into the mad crush in the food court before the show, eat hear and then walk two blocks to the theatre. A good go-to pub in Pyrmont, but they need to seriously find a solution to replace the only option to get to upper levels. Stairs with no handrails is a safety issue and must be addressed before we will be going back. Great views from the upper deck just a shame on the stairs. Secrets! This place is full of *secrets*! My fetish for classic old man boozers is well documented, which is why I love the street level area of this 24hr pub so much. Oh, I mentioned its 24hrs, right? As in, you could trot down there at 6am and have a schooey of Toohey's Old if you wanted to. Yep. But what I recently discovered is the upstairs level. And the level above that. And they're both awesome. With multi-level floors, different rooms and areas, smaller bars, lounge areas, smoking rooms, and a huge outdoor bar with views over Darling Harbour, I felt like I'd dropped down the rabbit hole. A big, boozy, fantastic rabbit hole where they serve beer and $8 steaks. They also have the Man or Mouse Challenge, where you come in at night, pay peanuts for gigantic meals, and win the admiration of your peers if you finish them all. This is an interesting pub. I'd been here late for drinks after a conference once before and found it good. But I came here for dinner on a Wednesday, and found myself in the trivia room! What fun that was! They have regulars who are incredibly friendly and great prizes if you happen to win. Definitely worth spending a Wednesday evening with them. They also had good food specials - free chicken wings with a jug purchase and $10 burgers. Can't really go wrong! read more

Went here for a UYE, a crazy eating challenge! Downstairs is an old school bar with a few seats outside looking down towards Darling Harbour. Upstairs is a modern looking bistro area with big glass windows that also look out to Darling Harbour and the cityscape beyond. The hotel is doing daily food specials and on our visit on Monday - it was the monster chicken burger challenge. It is a massive 2 layer chicken burger served with a large serve of fries. One layer is filled with fried chicken with an excellent chilli sauce and the bottom is like a caesar salad, grilled chicken breast and bacon. All of this food comes for a mere $15 and there is enough to easily feed 2 people let alone 1 person. It is pretty close to where the action is, has some decent beers on tap, and the downstairs bar is pretty cool, however there was a vibe about this place that I really didn't like. I've actually been here a couple to times (and both times it was pretty packed). However the second time the place just didn't feel right. Fortunately there was an upstairs area with an balcony, but that is mainly for the smokers. Still the balcony does have a reasonable view across Darling Harbour to the city. However, there are better places around, and I doubt I'd visit this pub again. read more

But nevertheless we had been drinking at the Casino, before we up and went around the corner to the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel. Located just opposite the Pyrmont Bridge, the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel is a sporty kind of bar, with reasonable drink prices and a wide selection. I mentioned earlier that we were at the Casino drinking, only as set up to this memorable story: We were all a little tipsy by the time we got to the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel and we were meeting a friend who had just finished work. We ordered a round of beers and sat down, our work mate, the sober one, took one sip of his beer, put it down on the table, went to pick it up for a second sip but misjudged the width of the glass and rather than his hand encompassing the schooner, he pushed it forward, spilling it all over our friends dress. The staff at the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel immediately offered paper towels and condolences to our wet friend and the night continued smelling a little more like beer than it had before. While it looks like a standard pub from the outside, recent renovations have revamped the interior of the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel into a modern watering hole. Like its name suggests, it is located right across from the Pyrmont Bridge, which you can clearly see from the outdoor verandah upstairs. The greatest thing about this hotel is that it is ALWAYS open! Yes, you can get a drink whenever your heart desires, this place is open 24 hours. Though I have yet to roll out of bed and straight into the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel, I do know that this scenario isn't entirely improbable. I'll most likely be here for happy hour from 4:30PM to 5:30PM. While the Hotel is open 24 hours, the bistro is only open from 9AM-10PM. All of the mains on the menu (excluding the steaks) are under $20, meaning that in addition to getting cheap drinks, you can stuff yourself silly with schnitzels and burgers for a negligible amount of money. read more

I really like PBH. It's like that old pair of jeans that are ratty, tatty and well past their use-by date, but you still keep coming back to them and can't get rid of them. Open 24 hours, it doesn't matter what time of day you pass by, there's always someone having a beer inside. Upstairs where they do functions has been renovated and is a really nice place for a gathering. Food from the bistro is good - never had a problem there, and well presented and tasty. Staff have always been friendly. Can highly recommend after a bit of shopping at Harbourside to come here for a drink and bite to eat, or a social function. read more

It's one of those pubs you end up at - with a twinge of regret. There are several levels but none of them quite redeem the place. Heading up to the rooftop bar area can be pleasant, but then everyone has the same idea, and so it gets pretty crowded and rowdy. The main reason my review has gone from a potential 3 stars to 2 stars has to do with a very unfortunate incident involving a perfectly good piece of salmon. I was pretty stoked that they had a salmon special for $10. That was, until it arrived. The pretty salmon fillet was sitting on a nice bed of green salad. But both the salmon and the salad were absolutely saturated with some kind of bright pinky red sauce. It looked pretty hideous, and unfortunately tasted even worse. You know that kind of super processed sweet & sour sauce that just tastes a bit like chemicals? Yeah, it was THAT sauce. So bad. What a way to destroy a perfectly good piece of salmon. Now, walking past this pub, I often think about this salmon, and how things could have worked out so much better if someone had just sprinkled some olive oil over the top, or maybe even a tiny bit of butter sauce ... or even béchamel or white sauce wouldn't have been too offensive ... Hilariously ... I also witnessed a perfect "useless bartender" moment. The bloke next to me ordered a bottled beer. The bartender took it out of the fridge, and then looked blank. He patted down his apron, looked back and forth at the bench. His expression grew more and more frantic. "Maa-aaate," whimpered the bar tender, "I ... um ... I can't find my bottle opener. Have ... uh ... have you got any keys?" Oh PBH, what a place. read more

I don't know if it's cause I'm not used to these "eat a dangerous and unhealthy amount of food in less than 1 hour and get it free" promotions, but there's something fascinating about the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel. First of all, the food actually SEEMS NICE. Went last thursday to share some beers with friends and well, even if we didn't eat anything the 1kg steaks looked so palatable that I almost order 1 even if I had my dinner waiting for me at home. On the other hand, the combination of different atmospheres from a regular dark pub to a funky terrace, not to mention the arcades, some chick bars and surprises of the kind made this place worth the visit. And I'm likely to test myself with one of their daily promotions. read more

Lovely old pub this one. It's kind of been done up but mostly it hasn't changed much in nearly a century. The main bar is your traditional standup, working man's bar. No table service here. Almost no tables in fact. You can imagine this place being filled not with its current city suit and hipster crowd but by the teams of wharfies this place was built for when Darling Harbour was a working port. It's still got a working man's pub vibe to it. In fact the day we were there, the only outdoor table was taken up by a group of old guys that looked like they had been working on a road crew all day. The only thing they have really modernised is the beer list which is pretty good. Lots of good stuff to chose from. There are other levels in this place that apparently offer more up to date and civilised experiences but I'll stick to the main bar. Oh yeah...it's apparently open 24 hours so if you ever feel like a schooner at 4am, this is the place to go. read more

What can one say about The Pyrmont Bridge Hotel? It's been there that long it's like part of the furniture. A couple of friends used to work near there and walk past it daily. It intrigued them that there was always someone in there enjoying a drink no matter what time of the day it was. So one day they decided to not walk past it but actually walk into it and join whoever was having a drink at 8.30 in the morning. One drink became two and so on and so on and before you know it, a whole working day had been spent in there. There's plenty of options to sit inside or out, upstairs or down and a bistro to keep your stomach full. There is always something happening at the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel. So, they have a "toss the boss Tuesday" thing where you if you buy a schnitty and win a coin flip you get your $15 back in the form of a gift card type thing - essentially winning your schnitty back. We both won it... Got the cards and they said "Yeah, you can't use them tonight... come back 'tomorrow'" - wtf? Nowhere did it state on the card or the terms and conditions that you cannot use the money immediately (as one would expect).. We questioned the bar staff then the manager came over to us and started abusing us and then literally pushed us out the door while still abusing us for even questioning why we cannot use this crappy promotion. She was beyond rude, dismissive and then eventually physical... She resorted to having the bouncer ask us to leave while STILL hurling abuse at us.. I will never, ever, ever go back to the PBH... WORST BAR IN ALL OF SYDNEY! Plenty of places to go instead so pick any other one! Im a young girl visiting from the states and my friends left before me. I walked outside for a cig and the bouncer wouldnt let me back in. My phone died and i asked the bouncer for help getting home (a cab or uber) A random man jumped at the opportunity to walk me home. I look at the bouncer and asked ur gonna have me get walked home by a stranger instead of letting me in to charge my phone?!? He said nah i know him hes a good man. Getting walked home eventually led him to him trying shit. He walked me in circles trying to get me to go to his place for drinks. I eventually found my way home but no sense of safety at all here. If i was drunker he could have definitely taken me to his house and done whatever. Come here if ur an old drunken man bc thats the only people who get any respect. read more

This place has to get five stars for surviving the lockouts so you can always get that spontaneous drink breakfasts, lunch and tea. Good pub menu and they usaully are playing the latest sports . Short tram trip from central station also makes it a place to meet and start the night . read more

Went to the pub for a work lunch and ordered the beer battered barra. The fish was battered but sadly not cooked. I told the waitress who said she would tell the chef. Waited around for ten minutes but had no one come back with a refund or new meal. I couldn't recommend it for a meal. On the upside it has a good outside area for a beer. read more

Not much of a mixed crowd (all old guys in the lower bar) Went upstairs to check out the view, but felt restricted because everywhere I looked said "Area Reserved" That whole concept causes segregation within the bar. Staff seemed nice, food seemed okay, but the atmostphere could have been better. Place could use a serious makeover to bring it up to date. Liquor selections were pretty limited as well. I'm not one of those people to never say don't try a place unless I really hate it, but this will not be the last place you'll stay during the night. Terrible experience last night at the pub downstairs. I was with a group of 8 people. One of my friends was drunk, but wasn't doing much - just standing there talking with all of us. The bouncer came over to us, said he was too drunk and threw him out. Then another friend, that wasn't drunk, opened the window and passed that friend his jacket since he didn't get a chance to grab it before being kicked out. Then the same bouncer grabbed my friend's arm, opened that window/door again and shoved him out very forcibly. I asked the bouncer why he did that, and he said, "He opened the window." I responded, "My friend was just trying to give the guy you through out his jacket." He said to me, "Now I'm getting ready to throw you out." Me? An almost sober 5'6" female? Because I asked you why you just threw my friend out for no reason? (I walked out at that point. I'd had enough of him) Unprofessional. Unfriendly. Unnecessary. Clearly that bouncer was on a power trip. Look, being on the staff at a pub means that you are client-facing, and THAT means that you should maintain a standard of customer service skills.
