This is the place to get a massage!!…read more I have worked at wellness spas where people pay $2,400.00 a week (minimum) to go - - and learn about health and the benefits of diet and lymphatic massage. The knowledge that Dr Jo has is amazing. The fact that she makes her home here is the community's good fortune. Massage and Reflexology is just the start of her practice/services. I am grateful to have gotten to have a session with her. It is one of the best massages I have ever gotten.

This so-called school is on their 9th student in the first year and not one student has completed…read morethe course or lasted long. In the school there is the owner's office (Joyce Middleton) and one wall is completely filled with documentation. If you look closely most of the documentation is outdated. The First Aid certificated is more than 10 years old, and they are only valid for 3 years. The letter from NHPC is dated from March 10, 2008 and to be registered with any valid institution, it's a yearly fee and you need to meet their requirements yearly. The letter is also addressed to Northern School of Spa therapies, not Northern School of Massage. I could go on with more of her outdated documentation she has hanging in her office at the school. Don't get me wrong, I thought this school was a great idea. What school do you go to, has a low $500 tuition fee and you get paid for performing your practicum on clients? The student gets paid 29% of the massage, so a 60 min massage the student would receive $15.95 and the school would get $39.05. The student is not told that while earning this percentage you would need to claim it on your income tax and paid the required taxes. After you leave/quit the school, the owner Joyce (Jo) Middleton bullies, verbally abuses and slanders you to clients and friends. The disclaimer that is signed by new student, can not and will not hold up in court, but she reminds you not to disobey it or she will contact her lawyer. Well Jo, I hate to tell you, but if you want to follow thru with it, you will need to file a Contract of Law. Which I am sure you won't because it would be discovered that your school is a sham. Your other school Northern School of Spa Therapies which operated out of the MacKenzie Inn was closed down over 10 years ago. Seems you had one student complete your course then, but thru her review, it is discovered her certificate from your school is good for toilet paper. Is Joyce Middleton a registered with BC Teachers' Federation or any association? Jo, if you are please produce a certificate that is dated in this decade and from a valid association. The school is a great idea if the owner didn't execute it for her own personal gain. If you are thinking about becoming a student or a student, please stay away. You are better off going to a valid school where you are working towards a certificate and become an RMT. You won't get paid for your practicum, but no valid school does. You know the old saying "If it's too good to be true, it is". Well I believe this school is a prime example to this saying, but that is my option.
