The management of the hospital is appalling and for a not for profit organisation they are only focused on MONEY not the patient. They charge to make high profits and are focused on turn over of beds putting unnessary pressure on the poor staff that do a fantastic job. I once went to a doctor that prescribed me anti-histamines when I had pneumonia. As a result I got asthma, and I've been very cautious about choosing a cheap, bulk-billed doctor. Central Brunswick Centre is not bulk-billed, but it is rebated by Medicare, so your average cost for a consultation is about $30. The staff are super friendly and you don't have to wait too long when you book an appointment. When it comes to your health you can never be too careful but I wouldn't trust anywhere else.

Central Brunswick Medical Centre is gay friendly, and the majority of doctors are gay themselves. So a lot of the LGBT community are patients here and can get sexual advice and check ups in a comfortable environment. I'm straight but I come here because the doctors, receptionists and facilities are amazing. I've been to a few doctors here. Ken Koh is very helpful, and when I left the appointment he even called me on his private office line to double check whether or not I'd had certain vaccines. Fiona Bishop is fantastic, and is always on high demand. When I first wanted to come to this clinic she wasn't taking on any new patients, but six months later I somehow managed to weasel my way onto her regular patient's list. She's compassionate, but firm, and made me piss myself when I walked in with a nasty virus and she spent our entire consultation with a face mask on. (I was very contagious.) James Kennedy is a sweetheart and has a lovely Irish accent that will make you forget all of your ails. The nurse is also incredibly kind and considerate. My ears get blocked often so I come here to get them flushed out. Having water flushed into your middle ear isn't exactly pleasant and can leave you feeling nauseous, so the nurse sat and chatted with me while the room stopped spinning. Some important things to note: - You're able to claim most of the bill back through medicare, and the ladies at reception can help you set things up so those returns are paid directly to your account. - There's a pathology clinic down the hall so you can get your tests done in one hit. - If you're catching public transport, this place can be a bit difficult to find. Walk past Grill'd, then past Video Ezy, walk up two flights of stairs and it's straight ahead on your left.

This medical centre is always busy and occupies a significant space on Level 4 of Paddington Central, putting it on street level beside fashionable restaurants, cafes, boutique stores and a busy bus stop. For this reason I'm stunned when locals tell me they've never seen or heard of the place. My response is to tell them they ought to be going here. I've been seeing Dr Lenti for a decade now. I've never had a regular doctor or dentist before, and I'm not sure whether this fact signifies my lazy attempt at moving into semi-responsible adulthood or because he's simply a good doctor. It's certainly the latter, and possibly the former. I've also visited another doctor here, Dr Andrew North, and was treated well and with polite efficiency. Unlike many other doctor's surgeries, I almost never have to wait more than a few minutes when I show up for an appointment. Moreover, when booking, there's almost always an opening within the next 24 hours; if not, and you're feeling particularly unwell, staff generally allow you to just show up and will squeeze you in, usually with your doctor of choice. The growth of the centre has brought with it the addition of a dietician, a podiatrist and (conveniently and importantly) an on-site Sullivan Nicolaides. It's very reassuring to have any bloodwork or tests done on site immediately rather than trudging away, feeling like hell and clasping a referral to get tested somewhere else. Moreover, the head nurse here, Lynne, is lovely. I'm not afraid of needles myself, but if you are you'll find Lynne as reassuring as possible. As well as Dr Lenti and Dr North, there are two female doctors at the centre: Dr Helen Ung and Dr Janice Steinohrt. This is perfect for female patients who would rather speak to a female doctor. I have every faith in this practice, and I'm someone who tries to stay on top of their physical health. I'm also the sort of person that urges stubborn sick people to stop pretending to be brave and just go to the doctor. I'm looking at you, sniffy. Head on down to Paddington Medical and get yourself sorted before you make us all sick.

However grumpy the staff look, they are actually super nice and understanding. (even if you are a half hour late for appointments.) I mainly come here because it is in such a convenient location. Smack bang on Queen st, it is literally a 5 min walk from the mall. The doctor's are friendly, NON-judgemental and have plenty of advice on hand. They also have a handy pathology lab upstairs and offer Bulk billing appointments (for those with health care cards.) If you're feeling poorly in the city these guys will help you get back on track.

Open only to private healthcare holders, this is where I would have my 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th... okay let's not get too carried away, you get my point. What I love about having a baby here at this hospital, is that it's small, you can always get a car park, and everyone is really friendly. They actually remember your name and treat you not like a number but someone who is you. They were caring, I had the same midwife with me most days I was there after giving birth. They gave me a wheelchair when I was walking into the hospital straight away with contractions. They gave me gas, epidural, drugs in general... they got my baby out without too much stress. I absolutely loved the care I had in this hospital and the food was pretty damn good too (I ticked all the boxes on the order food forms and got so much food stacked on my tray). They were so good to me here, I sent them all really expensive chocolate brownies after I got home. And I never do that.

When it first opened, like all clinics, we had no problem getting an appointment and getting in on the time we booked for. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and I thought hey, this could be our new doctor! In recent times, the waiting period has been very long... up to 1 hour. There are quite a few doctors here, but none are all that young. The other day I ran 15 minutes late because my daughter was running a fever and arrived there and the lady at the desk told me sorry I don't know how long you have to wait, you're late. I was a bit taken aback by her comment, because it doesn't take much to see I had a sick baby and all the other times I had to wait over an hour... the nerve. Anyway. I might put it down to the fact that maybe she was having a bad day... but I was not impressed. The doctor I saw was great and helpful... but the experience I had with the lady at reception had already left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. It is a good clinic, but expect to wait, and don't book your appointments for a Monday... you can easily wait over an hour like myself.

While at times there may be a long wait to see the Dr, I know this when making the appt and feel the dr I see there is worth the wait. Dr Linda Maloney has to be the warmest, kindest dr and I couldn't imagine seeing anyone else. You know that she runs late because she takes her time and doesn't rush patients in and out. She takes her time with them and is thorough.

The staff there are very friendly and will make sure you're comfortable with the procedure before starting. I'm not particularly squeamish when it comes to injections or blood tests, but I still don't find it pleasant, and the air of nonchalance with which the staff approach it at this centre in particular was reassuring to me. At first I was slightly put off by the shabby interior, which wasn't dirty or unhygienic in any way, but more so fashioned as if it was built in the '70s. But again, don't let this turn you off because if you're searching for a collection centre that is central, fast, and friendly, you've found it. NB: The centre is closed from 1-1:30pm for the staff's lunch breaks, so if you're making a mad dash there on your own lunch break, I'd advise trying to come in early before work or afterwards.
