CENTRALLY LOCATED DEPT STORE IN OLD QUEBEC…read more During our visit to Quebec City, we dropped by the Simons department store that is centrally located in Old Quebec on Cote de la Fabrique. It is near the Notre Dame Basilica de Quebec. Simons is a very small and quiet department store. Convenient for the tourist who forgot to pack something or now needs warmer clothing for the cold Quebec weather. We were surprised that Simons did not have a small giftware section where we might purchase a unique souvenir of our visit to Old Quebec that would not end up being a dusty tchotchke.

Customer Service told me if I could provide them with proof of shipping they would refund my money. I obtained everything required from the post office and they still would not refund my money. I opened a PayPal dispute, and Simons told me they would refund me immediately if I closed the dispute....I CLOSED THE DISPUTE AND THEY AGAIN REFUSED TO REFUND MY MONEY. I do not know how this company stays in business. They are completely unethical.

Roots came to the forefront when Canada hosted the Summer Olympics in 1976 in Montreal and the winter Olympics in Calgary in 1988. In both cases Roots rose to the forefront of the merchandising campaigns, no matter who was the official sponsor. Roots remains a very intriguing store. In Quebec City the old storefront used to be in the Chateau Frontenac right on the boardwalk...now it has moved to this new location. Roots still has a number of interesting designs, and is a brand known throughout Canada and the United States. You'll like their designs, especially if you are partial to their Canadian Beaver. They have some of the…read moremost comfortable clothing in the world but I have a hard time paying $68 for a pair of sweat pants or sweatshirt. 20 - 30 years ago it was more reasonable (when Beaver Canoe was their direct competitor) however the main roots store has morphed into a yuppie secondary type of lululemon lounge and woodsy cabin wear chic style clothing store. Selection here was more than adequate however they had no sale rack for me to peruse. I refuse to pay hyper-inflated prices for sweat pants or sweatshirts. No matter how cool and comfortable they may be! No matter how much nostalgia it may bring of my childhood and the coolness of the brand. Interior design in cosy and warm. A great place for a souvenir shirt of Canada or try to find something Quebec emblazoned. I will pass and come back.

The owner was so welcoming and helpful, and I enjoyed my time in the shop. I was treated as if I was purchasing several expensive leather bags, was not made to feel rushed, and we had a lovely conversation about the Old City and she recommended several places to visit. I felt similar earmuffs at other shops, and none felt as soft as the ones I got from Bilodeau. After walking around the city for 2 days in February I realized I had not brought proper footwear and then went on a search. I visited Bilodeau a 2nd time and tried on a pair of boots that did not fit. At no time did I feel pressured by the manager and she was so helpful. I continued to look for boots at various stores without luck. As we were walking by Bilodeau again, I noticed a pair of boots displayed in the window I had not seen. The store was closed, but the manager was inside and saw us. She opened up for us, was so patient as I tried on two pair of boots and I was able to buy the perfect pair. I even forgot my mittens and had to knock again on the door - which she opened laughingly and gave me my mittens. Yes, the price is high, but you get what you pay for. I will have these boots and earmuffs forever - the quality is that good. The manager went above and beyond. Highly recommend.

Cool little vintage store that reminds me of the vintage shops in Kensington Market (in Toronto)…read morecirca 1990's. Lots of retro items, funky jewelry and cool hats. Staff were nice and even informed me of which items were 30% off and which items were 50% off. Prices were reasonable. Just watch your step when you're in the store, there are random steps and I almost fell flat on my face, lol.
