A lovely little place in the wholesome and quaint town of good ole Saint Johns! Cutie and I have lived here almost three years now and love it more and more each day! Today, I decided to take a stroll on down to OhMi and get a 20oz cold brew. Such a phenomenal day for weather out there people, the best of the year so far, I do say! As I enter the business, I'm greeted with a friendly hello and I begin looking around as there were some folks ahead of me. They have wonderful merchandise for sale as well as healthy kombucha drinks along with their chocolates and coffee of course. I would recommend all their chocolates. So packed with flavor and often fudge like, they're kept cold, and they have, I believe, 180 or so flavors! However, I was only looking for a cold brew today! "Well, what did you order already?! Tell us!" Okay, okay, I'll tell ya. I asked what they'd recommend as I'm down to try any and all flavors! The friendly lady said they have a special from St. Patrick's Day still available that has some sort of Irish Whiskey flavor. She went into greater detail about the drink, but it escapes my mind, sorry y'all. But anyways, I was already sold! Well, it turns out it was thirsty Thursday, so I got a dollar off my drink! Absolutely awesome, can't beat a 20oz for only $4 and at this quality too! I decided to get one chocolate because why not? I got the superior fudge which I devoured about 20 feet outside of the shop! They gave me a free two-pack of chocolate surprise cookies too! The good folks in there are always giving away free goodies, and I'm down for it! The cookies were super soft with a hint of what I feel is a molasses taste. Almost like the delicious homemade molasses cookies my mom used to make! The chocolate surprise is in the center, and it's a smooth light chocolate! I highly enjoyed them, thanks! The coffee was phenomenal and refreshing. The coffee here has never disappointed, and I love trying all the different varieties! These people are like mad scientists when it comes to the flavors, but they're doing nothing but good in the community and in their shop too! Love this place and always look forward to coming back! This fudge company is now officially my FAVORITE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!! It started with something…read moreminor that isn't the company's fault (I bought a fudge cup in a store that buys from a distributor. For some reason, the paper wouldn't come off the fudge and therefore I couldn't eat it. I saw a phone number on the container that held the fudge cup, so I called to let them know what happened. I was surprised to hear a real person answer after only a few rings! She was so kind. I explained the situation. She apologized and asked if I could send her pictures. She gave me a phone number to send the pictures and while we were still on the phone, I sent the pictures. She couldn't believe her eyes and asked for the lot # on the container to help her sort out what happened and hopefully prevent it in the future; I provided it to her. Last but not least, she said she'd send me some new fudge...fast forward to last week, when I opened my mailbox to find...a HEAVY BOX!!! I was simply expecting replacement of the fudge cup, but I opened the box to find not only about 10 times the amount of fudge in my original purchase, but she also included a Bavarian Pretzel, Chocolate No-Bake Cookies, Sea Salt Caramel (shaped like a cookie), and deviled eggs in the form of white chocolate!! My husband and I are NOT fans of salt and chocolate combined, but we ABSOLUTELY LOVED the Sea Salt Caramel!!! I also don't like dark chocolate, but this company really makes EXCELLENT Sea Salt Caramel with dark chocolate on the outside! Everything in the box was truly delicious - no kidding, and now they've got a customer for LIFE!!! I'm so appreciative of them going above and beyond to make things right for a simple fudge cup - thanks so much, How Sweet It Is Fudge & Candy Company!!! If you look in any corner, you'll see piles of dirt, dust and dead insects that have been there for ages. If the customer-facing areas look like this, God only knows how unsanitary the back rooms are. The employees exude an attitude of disgruntlement, laziness and complete lack of interest in their job...probably the outcome of being exploited for cheap labor by Tom the Scrooge. Anything resembling customer service is nonexistent here. Be prepared to wait a in the single staffed checkout line, while three other employees watch you wait and never even make a move to open another checkout line. And the prices...I've never seen such outrageously high grocery prices anywhere. This is obviously the result of the small town single grocery store monopoly that Tom has jealously guarded in Portland for decades. If a Meijer or Walmart opened in this town, they would crush Tom like the cockroach he is...and that live in his store.
