For lodge food, you're not going to do much better than that. We stayed here for a college visit to Georgia Tech. It wasn't a bad drive down to the university and back, and then we spent the rest of our time hiking around the falls. We had a wonderful long family weekend. I much preferred staying here than in a hotel/motel. The breakfast buffet was really good. I can't think of anything I wanted that they didn't have. The dinner was decent, on lodge food level. Maybe I'm grading on the curve, but to be honest I'm not expecting Michelin Guide levels of restaurant quality at a state park lodge. I would strongly recommend the ground level rooms so that you get a patio. That was super nice (see picture). I highly recommend the lodge. I'm definitely bringing the family back sometime.

The rooms were not properly cleaned, and the bed was slanted and uncomfortable. We also did not receive the room we originally booked; staff gave us an excuse about plumbing issues instead. Although the waitress was pleasant during our first dinner, the food itself was poor and the menu lacked good options. Overall, the hotel is not well maintained and does not meet basic standards of comfort or cleanliness. If your goal is to visit the waterfall, I recommend booking another hotel in town and driving up. I will not be returning to this location.

But that's not why it received my highest rating. We had one glitch in our stay. Management was not only responsive, they went over the top to make sure we were satisfied. No free breakfast as advertised on Wyndham's page for this particular Super8. "Start each day with a free light breakfast item together with your choice of coffee, tea and juice." Yeah right. Dining area is cordoned off with yellow tape. What's more, there hasn't been any breakfast here for at least a year- which we learned AFTER our stay began. Mind you, I grasp COVID; this is why I'm vaccinated. But the least they could do is provide a box meal to allow for distancing. Or ensure that Wyndham removes that amenity from their page; a year was enough time. Hallways reeked of smoke. We dragged three pieces of luggage up the stairs to our room, as there is no elevator. In the process, we realized the side doors remain accessible at all hours to anyone and aren't subject to key card entry. Not secure at all. The bench near our front door had a big odd residue spot. Shower curtain had a cigarette hole in it. Towels were pretty thin. Toilet seat was unstable. We didn't get any towels or housekeeping service after the first night; hubby had to go to front desk. After subsequent nights, there was no cleaning or bed service. Towel service and replenishing of coffee & shampoo was all we ever got. The same lid to my shower bottle remained on bathroom floor for several days & was there when we left. I DO realize the time between bed sheet changes varies and some places minimize it for eco-friendliness. But in light of the overall room, this isn't eco-consciousness; it's laziness. At least, make the bed!! That's partly why guests book a place- the conveniences. Heck, it makes me wonder if they even change sheets between guests. Unfortunately Georgia doesn't require much beyond "cleaning" every 7 days, which is scary enough...and their law doesn't specify anything about bed sheets. But doing the bare minimum is still bad business; that's purely on ownership. This place is run cheaply, and it shows. Plus, I bet they have more than 20% of their rooms designated as smoking- and that's a no-no in the Peachtree State.

The only room left was a handicap room and the seat in the shower was gross and when I flipped it up to make more room there was mold under the seat. Since their acquisition from Super8 they repainted, put in vinyl flooring and new nightstands and desks. I hope they didn't pay the painter too much as it looked like a 5 year old did it.
