Refrigerator don't work at all the logjt switch for the bathroom is on the outside and it's creepy

Nice appearance, well lighted, clean, and inviting. Love the history lessons all around the hotel on John Dixon, the towns founder, Ronald Reagan, and Abraham Lincoln. The rest was a downer. hard to find a desk server to check out, breakfast bar was pathetic, and the pool was dirty, and nasty. Way to expensive at 140$ a night with all the add on fees. read more

We have stayed here at least 12 times in 10 years. The place is horrible, and the staff is not trained and is rude. Several times, we have had repair men walk on our sink and furniture with their shoes on. We recently stayed for two weeks in 2 rooms, both had broken light bulbs that were never fixed. When we asked the woman at the front desk, when the lights would be fixed, she rudely said, "We know about it." The bulbs were never replaced. We had a room where you could smell cigarette smoke, and more than once mold on the floor in the bathroom which cannot be healthy. We complained, but only got a form letter of regret, but nothing was fixed. The staff is rude and poorly trained. Stay Away! Thankfully, two new hotels are being built nearby. read more

Aweful is really too kind for this dump. The first room had the stench of cigarette smoke. We were given a different room. That room had broken AC and a bathtub that wouldn't drain. My wife complained the next morning and the person at the desk promised a price reduction. That was sadly just a fib to get us gone. We would have been better off sleeping in the Walmart parking lot next door. No WiFi no hair dryer btw. read more

just no. I don't wish a stay here on my biggest enemy. me and my family arrived and went to the check in desk and waited 30 minutes to actually check in. we finally got to our room and it smelled sooooo bad, like mold (which we did find in the ac vent) and cat urine. So we then went to the front desk to try to get another room because there was not a chance we were sleeping in that horrible smell. We then waited a so long to just have someone come, and yes there was a button to ring someone. She finally came to the desk and said oh sorry they did not put that room on my list which was implying that there is a whole list of rooms that smell bad ‍. So we finally got our room and it ok however the ac does not do anything i had to on the highest setting and it was super hot in the room and it was 90 degress outside! The bed was comfortable but we went out the next day and when we came back out key would not work! So we had to wait forever so the person at the front desk could give us new ones. Also if you are not a morning person then I hope you plan to wake up early if you want to eat breakfast because it starts at 6 and ends at 9, which was not very ideal for my famil. read more

All in all I had a very nice stay. Breakfast was ehhhh, tater tots were usually a bit dry and the eggs were obvi bulk. Pastries were hot or miss, waffles were decent though. Loved my room, spacious and very comfy beds. Great pillows too. TV had a good amount of channels and was good quality picture. Housekeeping was great, always had fresh towels and per their signage linens were changed every 3 days of stay. My view... not so good, oversaw a roof and my window was sealed shut. Not a biggie about the view but damn I'd have liked to open the window and get a breeze. Loved the fact they were pet friendly. Only had a $15 per night surcharge. The pool area was nice, water decently warm. Gym had a fair amount of machines and free weights too. The business center was a small nook I utilized a bit. A couple computers with 15" screens, nothing fancy but, enough to work on if needed. Common areas were clean and open too. Over all, I'd come stay here again if needed. read more

Stay started out great if you like the smell of pot when you walk down the hallways. The room was old and dated, TV remotes (2) did not work and shower head was at eye level and I'm 5'10", the bed like a rock. Dim lights throughout so you can't see how dirty the overall room is. Expensive room at $165, and no bereavement rate granted. Seriously? Went down for breakfast at 9 AM (ends at 9:30) and the coffee machine was broken with a sign on it, there were no more muffins, hardly any eggs, two bananas left and waffles were not an option as they were cleaning the waffle machine up for the day. There's a Walmart next door. Go buy a coffee maker! Then when we went back to our room, the key would not work as they program it to not give you entry after 9 AM the day of your departure (10 AM is checkout time). We requested 1 PM late checkout time due to our attending a funeral and it was verbally granted. At noon housekeeping started pounding on the door (two separate occasions) trying to enter the room and then the manager called our room and demanded we leave within 15 minutes as that was their policy and no exceptions were ever made beyond noon. The manager Russ Patel was rude and nasty - telling us we're "banned" from the Comfort Inn!!! Russ should not be running any place that deals with the public. We are seniors, not teenagers. Russ has zero respect for anyone. Next time we'll say at the Holiday Inn Express Suites in Rock Falls or a lovely local B & B. This is not the kind of business I want to support in my beautiful hometown! read more

I stayed here for a week on a business trip. There was plenty of parking in the front and the back of the hotel. The staff here were all nice and friendly. My room was on the first floor and had two queen beds. The bed was comfortable and the room had the normal amenities like a TV, iron, ironing board, etc. The complimentary breakfast was okay but pretty much the same kind of food like a lot of other hotels. Do not stay here if you have a choice. PLEASE READ - I had a horrific experience with this hotel charging us for 2 nights when we stayed only 1. I checked out the next morning - gave my room number and my key. I had the luggage cart and was rushing to the hospital to be with our son. (We stayed at this hotel for a dyer medical emergency). Our son tragically passed away that morning (I wish this wasn't true - I would never make something like this up). They charged us for 2 nights and demanded proof that we didn't stay 2 nights. I told the Manager what happened. No condolences- only blame that I had to prove we only stayed 1 night. The Manager was Heartless - he/she didn't care. I was put off for 2 months - calling twice a week asking for a refund. Its the principle of this situation that's so upsetting - the behavior of the Manager. I was then told they would check with the owner. The owner said "yes" refund the family. Still no refund.... It's the principle - of their behavior - not the money... I contacted the CEO's Executive Team at Corp Hdq - I heard back. They tried and tried to get the hotel in Dixon - for a refund. After several attempts - no luck. Cope Hdq was appalled and shocked over the way this was handled and saddened by our sons sudden passing.... read more

Came to Dixon to meet my birth family. Spent $180 on a room for one night. ONE. it has a whirlpool and a fireplace. Whatever. Whirlpool was dirty, but nice. Fireplace didn't work. Oh did I mention it was almost 90 degrees out today and the AC in the room is broken and they said there's nothing they can do, and they're "fully booked" (even though the parking lot is almost empty), so they can't give us a different room? Won't be able to sleep tonight since the room is at LEAST 85 degrees right now and ridiculously sticky. Will never come back here. read more

Very nice hotel - surprisingly nice. It's one of a couple options in town and every time I've stayed here the room has been clean, the grounds have been well-kept, the staff has been friendly, and the parking has been easy. No complaints! read more

My mom and I drove an 1h and 45min because I took my SAT test at sauk valley community college. We stayed the night at this quality inn. We checked in at 10 and the staff was very friendly. We also checked out the rest of the hotel and it was very nice. I also went to the pool for a little bit and I enjoyed it there. (My mom enjoyed the fitness room and she enjoyed the view of the pool). Rooms were pretty outdated but other wise, very clean and comfortable. And with COVID, the breakfast was grab and go and it had name brand breakfast items which was nice. Overall, it was pretty decent. Lastly, the hotel was very historic and had a lot of presidential memorabilia. Almost forgot, 24/7 coffee and hot tea. read more

Booked a room in advance, got charged immediately. When we arrived at the hotel, front desk said pool is closed due to renovations. NOTHING on the website about that. Asked if I could get a full refund if we canceled and went to a hotel with a pool. It is the only reason we went to the hotel, so we could use the pool for my daughters bday. The front desk said yes, we will be happy to give you a full refund and cancel your stay due to the pool being down. Next day I called to make sure this was canceled, and it was going to get my refund. The girl said yes, we canceled, and you will receive your money in 5 business days. I said ok. Something didn't sit right with me, so i called again the next day and they said yes, it will take some time to refund, but we refunded it. 5 days pass. NOTHING in my account. Called back and asked for a manager, had to wait another 2 hours to get a manager. Told the story again and the manager said we cannot cancel, you have to call choice privileges, gave me the number to call. Called them, went through 2 people and had to tell this long story yet again for them to tell me we cant give you the full refund. You will get a check in the mail that can possibly take up to 6 weeks. So here i am, out of $118 for a room I didnt even stay at, for a promised FULL REFUND. Place is a joke and i will NEVER book through choice privileges/ quality inn in dixon IL. Waste of time and money. read more

Stayed over the night of March 18th. Room was dirty, stained fitted sheet on one bed. Food, Doritos wrapper, and crumbs noticed under sofa bed after opening, and stains on cushions. A family member was recently employed there and came down with the flu. She went to the ER and they gave her a sick note for work. She tried to go back early, fearing termination, and had to be transported to the hospital due to almost passing out. They gave her another note because she still wasn't fit to work, ESPECIALLY AROUND FOOD. She received a phone call today saying she was terminated. So this place would rather their employees come in to work and get customers sick by being around them and their food, than give them time to recover. Just remember that next time you're thinking of visiting here. read more

I think its important to rate a business based in part on its subcategory and target audience. The best steak and shake in North America doesn't deserve 3 stars because it's fast food it deserves 5 for being the best at what it is. Same with this Comfort Inn. This isn't the Palmer House or the Soho Grand; it's a budget-mid hotel chain in a smallish town by the interstate. And it's perfect at what it is. This is our 4th stay here and it seems to get better in little ways each time. This time we were given a room which did not face the bright parking lot- good for kids at 3 am. There were nice cookies at checkin. Kaylee at the front desk was extra welcoming and came out to meet our dog and the free hot breakfast was awesome. The room was great and you never realize how great it is to have a high functioning fridge and microwave until you really need them. This time the crib came with a really cute baby blanket that my wife and I noticed right away and the crib was in the room when we arrived which is crucial when you're coming in late. We stay here because we have to when we are visiting family in the area. I never thought we'd come to really like it! read more

If I could give it a lower score I would but I can't. Here's where will start check in..... The girl who checked me in charged my card twice and tried arguing that she didn't. I called my bank to make sure and they had indeed charged me twice. The fireplace in the suite did not work and tv kept going out I asked the front desk he said he didn't know about the fireplace and just unplug the television. Obviously not very helpful. The staff was extremely rude as is the general manager of this establishment as they did nothing to compensate for my terrible weekend. If there was a gesture I would have been satisfied. There was more than what I listed as well but i could go on for days... Just book a room at the super 8 down the road they are remodeling and very accommodating as well as the staff is extremely nice! read more

Very happy with my experience here so far. Arrived near 10:00 PM on a weekday and was helped by giving recommendations of what food in the area we could still find open. Had a little trouble getting in the back entrance, so we called the desk and someone came right over to help us. Turned out we were pulling the door hard enough. Doh! Place seems quiet and clean. All staff is nice and courteous. I was little unsure how it would be since there aren't a lot of choices in this area, but they appear to be putting the effort in. The included breakfast runs until 9:00 AM on weekdays and 10:00 AM on weekends. I was happy to see a couple fresh fruit offerings (apples and grapes). Some hotels I've been to in the same class had very minimal breakfasts with just fruit cups, pastries, and coffee. So I was very pleased to see the breakfast spread here: -Fresh fruit -plain scrambled eggs -scrambled eggs, sausage, and onions -bacon (it looked burnt but wasn't) -tater tots -waffle maker and waffle batter -yogurt -boiled eggs -cereal and milk -toast and pastries There is also a gym, indoor pool, and business center with computer and printer. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Dixon area. The next morning some breakfast items were differed. No bacon, but sausage links and gravy and biscuits were added. When you leave the Chicago area and venture into the vast flatlands of Western Illinois, you realize you're in a different place. Sometimes you find some real gems and sometimes you just settle for whatever is out there. Dixon has always been a bit off-center. Like it was a secret dumping site for nuclear waste or a viral warfare experiement gone bad. This Comfort Inn is in process of being converted and upgraded. My guess is that the hotel, or at least part of it, was a Quality Inn. So there is an entrance up front, and there is a vacated former entryway in back. Front desk features slightly spooky Hitchcockesque innkeepers. Room is reasonably nice but has that "cheap hotel" feel about it. Very stark bathroom, sink is located outside the bathroom out in the entryway. Room did have a flat screen TV but there was no desk to work on. Had to make do with what appeared to be a dining table. Hotel is supposed to be smoke free but furniture featured cigarette burns. But the most important saving feature was that the matresses were nice and firm. Sheets however were overly starched and scratchy. Hotel is in process of changing so there are little things that are a bit disorienting. There are large rooms with the windows blocked off with paper. Pool is large and family freindly. Weirdest thing about the pool is that there is what appears to be a metal ducking stool so the wheelchair bound can enjoy a dip. There is mini water park type setup on the other end of the pool. Breakfast is a decent experience. They have eggs, sausage, and tater tots. Storebought little donuts and muffins and cold cereal. But you can't forget your breakfast coupon, they won't let you in without it. They have two nice ladies overseeing the whole breakfast experience. Only beef I have with breakfast is that the eating area is pretty crowded. Too many tables in a small space. Like most inexpensive hotels, this is OK for an overnight stay. Price for a room is about $80. There are better hotels for multinight stays. read more

The Comfort Inn in Dixon proved to be a perfect stop for us on our last pass through the area. The friendly staff welcomed us with a smile even though we were arriving pretty late. The room was notably clean and well kept making it easy to hit the hay after a long day. The property is located in an area far enough away from the bustle that outside noise was no concern at all, but not so far away that it posed any problems to locate. Plus there were several dining options close by. While we are talking about dining, the free breakfast was well stocked and tasty. A great way to start the next day early. I do regret not taking advantage of the indoor pool and hot tub. It looked great and even had a water slide for the kiddos. This was a great stopover for us. read more

Travelling the Lincoln Highway, we needed to stop in Dixon, and ended up at this Comfort Inn. I've stayed at several places on this trip, and this hotel had the comfiest beds by far. They seemed to have just finished upgrading the place, even a fresh paint smell in the rooms. Clean, comfortable, would definitely recommend this place to others. They even have some kitschy nooks on the upper level with memorabilia and a mural of the three Illinois presidents: Lincoln, Grant and Regan. read more

Overnight accommodations are limited in this small town, so don't expect much. This hotel used to be two hotels with one side being a QuAlity Inn and the other being a Comfort inn. This explains why one pool area and one "front desk area" are both awkwardly blocked off. Rooms have been updated and the place is clean. Breakfast is cheap and sucks pretty bad. I come back when I work in the area, but prefer to stay in the Sterling/Rock falls hotels whenever possible. read more

**BEDBUG WARNING!!!!Woke up at 2am to a BEDBUG crawling across my neck!! I called the front desk and the night manager came up and took it away.and said he could offer a free stay or a percentage off my stay(such a slap in the face)..you know if a bed bug comes home with me that's hundreds of thousands of dollars to eradicate bedbugs..not to mention the mentally side of it feeling like bugs on you all day and feeling dirty....after he leaves I pull up the bed skirt on the box spring...and I found 2 more!!..with blood stains and a malted old shell(so they have been around for a while)..so then I call again he comes up I show him the 2 others.he switches me to another room.had to pack all my stuff up @230am..((meanwhile I have to be up at 6am for work))my company booked the room and the manager kept saying they booked it through somewhere...like does that even matter....its a company acount..they have lost my company's trust and money..do not stay here...its a dirty place..and my coworkers had to get new sheets because his were dirty with hair all over. read more

Stayed here for work a lot over the couple of months and seeing as Dixon is extremely limited on hotel choices I was forced to try the lesser of two evils. Several words can be used to describe this place. Rundown, Musty, Smokey (even in non smoking rooms), overpriced (considering the for mentioned words). Staff is pleasant and accommodating as long as we are not talking about the overnight front desk clerk who has the personality of a wet sponge. All this I could and have over looked and have gotten passed. Until my last stay which I will simply describe in two simple words totaling seven letters "bed bugs". Came home from my week of work with twelve bites that still itch like there is no tomorrow. Needless to say this week I am staying down the road in Rock Falls. read more

I stayed at this hotel every week from July 2011 to June 2012. My friend and I were always welcomed and had clean rooms. We never had a single issue during the entire time. The breakfast was always very good; eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, fruit, and the breakfast staff was sweet. Yes the gym is small, but who cares. The pool and hot tub were amazing. I would definitely be back here if I am ever in the middle of nowhere again. read more

So, I accidentally made a reservation through a 3rd party when I thought I was calling direct. I will never use 3rd party bc my experience had always been this. I got there and the reservation did exist a d neither did our room. I never had a confirmation email sent which hotels usually do right away. So long story short, Quality Inneas beautiful, rooms clean and they helped me get the situation rectafied. The guy who handled it, was pretty awesome. So, I will always try to double check that I am calling the hotel direct. They made it seem like you were calling direct but it was Guest Reservations. Com. They were better than Booking.com I don't trust these parties. Ppl plus through the hotel we paid $101 and through them it was $144. It was def hidden fees and what not. Thanks Quality Inn for baking us up and letting us enjoy our weekend!! The breakfast this morning was great! I just wish the weather was a tad nicer!!! read more
