Booked a room through Booking.com website 3 days ago which cost $115. The room was a dump- stained carpets throughout, damaged doors, stained curtains, clogged sink, stained ironing board, yellow mildewed shower curtain, barely luke warm water in shower and room smelled bad like a pet room. Listen, it's a no frills hotel chain, you're getting the minimum. Our room was clean, it smelt clean (no smoke) no bugs, not even dust on ledges. Complimentary soap/shampoo etc in room. Little coffee maker, mini fridge and microwave in room. Advertised as lakefront which I mean I guess? It's very small and only one area/side so you have to have specific rooms. Free breakfast, decent selection, coffee was ok, just a little loud at night. The rooms are old. Staff was nice. read more

Very nice budget motel in Mt. Dora for a short stay. A bit outdated and in need of a freshening up, but for the price it is the best choice in Mt. Dora IMO. Clean rooms, comfortable beds and a friendly staff. I refer to it as the "Old Pumpkin" as it is the color of an old pumpkin. On the outside it is pumpkin orange and inside the rooms are a Squash/yellowish color like the inside of a pumpkin. LOL! It is my preferred place to stay when I visit and highly recommend it to those that want to stay in a comfortable, safe and budget friendly place while visiting the area. They have a complimentary simple breakfast offering in the office in the mornings and it is "Service Dog" friendly, which is most important to me. The staff were friendly. They accommodated our early check-in and staying an extra day. Because of our early arrival, we ended up in a handicap suite. The location is awesome as it was less than 15 minutes to anything we needed. It could definitely use a facelift, and the bathroom was a little suspicious. We loved the lake facing patio, and we spent every evening (4 nights) outside. We were even inspired by a friendly sandhill crane that turned into a tattoo on our last day. Reserved a room for one night at a reasonable military rate. Decided we wanted to stay another so called. I was told they were full. I went on their app and there was rooms, just not at the discounted rate. I would have been fine paying more if they would have told me. Room was clean, but I must have made a mistake and we were in a smoking room. The smell was bad, but that was my fault. We decided to book somewhere else for the second night. This hotel is absolutely disgusting. From the pee stained bedsheets, to the mold colony of a shower, to the mini fridge with dead bugs and debris inside, do yourself a favor and steer clear. I was also given an extremely hard time at check in, and it soon became apparent that the front desk attendant was trying to take advantage of a single female traveling alone. The stay was already paid for, and he not only tried to convince me that I needed to pay in full, but that they couldn't honor the rate that was ALREADY PAID. He also tried keeping my license as a bargaining chip, until I got firm and aggressive with him about what I knew was going on. It's also important to note that I had to step outside of my hotel room to get any kind of service for texts or calls, and the wifi was down the whole time. Honestly am horrified with the things we found here. The first room we found had weird stains on the pillows and sheets. Also bugs in the sheets and pillows. We complained and got a new room that was just the same. They have a major bug problem and don't clean very well. There was mold on the bathroom walls. Carpets are disgusting. I would give 0 stars but the front desk people were really nice and apologetic about the first room. I think a lot of the reviews have more stars because of the service but the rooms are horrible. Very disappointed with my stay. My shower was dirty & the shower head was covered in crusty nastiness, the air conditioner looked way past due for a filter change(the room smelled spongy), missing a screw that secures the lock to the door, hole in door frame, cracked wall with a hole, broken light fixture, sticky remote control, rusty fixtures and hinges. I've stayed in less expensive motels that were much nicer than this place. Honestly, I feel like I've been ripped off, no one should be accepting money for a room in that condition. Let the pictures speak for themselves, just look at the picture of the shower - who in the world thinks it okay to rent a room with a shower that has black funk on the floor, streaky walls and a crusty shower head. I did not use the dirty shower. The only positive I have was the desk staff, which is nothing to rave about, but they were pleasant. Another Quality Inn where "quality" should be left out of the name. It's a pity that Choice Hotels doesn't inspect. The desk clerk actually told me they used to be a Comfort Inn which is the next tier up on their chain and I'm betting that they inspected the place and said the standards weren't met. Anyhow, the furniture is old, the bathroom could have been better but I used to have a bathroom that had a fiberglass tub and they're impossible to clean well. Even spoke with a gal who worked at Corning who makes most of them and she told me that there's really nothing you can do except replace it. We were there for two nights and when I checked in I told the desk clerk I didn't need the room cleaned but apparently no one told the room cleaner because they came in and did it anyhow. Unlike the last Quality Inn I stayed at back in May this one did serve breakfast. The usual cereal, muffins but they did have a waffle maker. Also coffee, tea and juice. I can sum up my stay by quoting what the wife said to me when we were leaving..."next time can we stay at a better place?" read more

I made reservations for 6 nights...on my second night I saw cockroaches (small ones) I called the front desk to inform him that there is cockroach and my child is afraid of them. This man who was working on December 26, 2019 at about 11:35 response was that "Are you sure you are not the one who brought the cockroach with you". How can a receptionist be this rude when I'm paying for their services. I came to spend the Christmas holiday with my son because I live in a different State. The very first day the lady who was suppose to greet me in a polite manner showed poor customer service and then this man topped it!!!! Something has to be done about these workers who were rude!!!! Besides I am NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO COMPLAINED ABOUT COCKROACHES. After doing my research on fb I've realized that others had the same problem. Nice gentleman at the front desk, but I don't see myself ever staying here again. Arrived pretty late on a Friday night, and there were quite a few shady characters hanging out in the parking lot area. We apparently had been put in a room with a Jacuzzi, it's a smoking room that was extremely dirty and nasty, there's not enough money in this world that would ever get me to go in that Jacuzzi tub!! Bugs, hair in the bed, yuk factor x 3. I have been here many times as it is the closest and cheapest place to work but it's simply not worth it. On occasion it's ok.. a lot of times it's just trash. I saw a dick drawn on the peephole of one room, broken smoke detectors, broken lights, patched holes in the walls, dirty sheets, dirty duvet, noisy sketchy guests, it's a real hot or miss but mainly a miss. Best place to stay in the area as it is centrally located between Mt. Dora, Tavares and Eustis. This is go to place when I am in the area for events as I was last week for the water jump on Lake Dora held by the Phantom Airborne Brigade and Hard Rock Rangers, which they run annually. My buddies an I enjoyed the accommodations and all the close shops and restaurants within walking distance. Within walking distance a new Millers Ale House and Longhorn steak house recently opened and both were excellent. Rooms are spacious, beds comfortable and the property is very well kept. I am a world traveler and some of these not so good reviews are unfounded and probably from people that do not travel nationally or internationally much if at all. This is the best price point deal in the area and I have stayed at all the top places. Staff is kind, attentive and I actually met with one of the Owners ( Mike ), which is rare, and I have nothing but good things to say about my entire experience. Mount Dora does a nice job on their little 4th of July celebration. A real "My Hometown" kinda thing they got going on there, so it's no surprise lotsa folks trek out to experience their "Olde Fashioned 4th" year after year. When I was calling around for a place to crash on Independence Day's night, I had to settle for this little motel located about 10 minutes away from Mount Dora's main drag. Booked a king bed room with sofa sleeper for $83.00 after tax. Room came with a mini fridge, flat screen tv and a microwave in it as well. Listen, for 80 bucks offa the highway, I'm not expecting the Ritz Carlton, you know? I got pretty much exactly what I was hoping to find: a nice, safe place to stow my gear while we were down at the celebration and a bed that didn't totally creep/gross me out to sleep in afterwards. There's also a Froggers right next door for drinks and grub so that was convenient. Pros: I mentioned the fridge, that was unexpected. Decent pool Two nice, little gazebos located just offa their small lake for reading/chilling Free continental breakfast Free WiFi (that actually connected without a hitch, also unexpected) Comfy bed Cold A/C Friendly and accommodating staff Cons: Cigarette holes in the comforter (which for me was no worries really--always chuck those on the floor first thing anyways) Splattered stains on the dusty lamp shades Musty smell upon check-in (granted it's an old motel, so we just cranked the A/C and opened the door. It aired out quite nicely). Towels looked a bit suspect in the cleanliness department. Like I said, this is a "You get what you pay for" type of place. You want 5 stars? Keep movin. This Quality Inn in Mt. Dora is an old style motel but the rooms have been remodeled. It sits on a small lake with a couple of gazebos to sit in which was nice. The room was clean. The beds were OK but not the most comfortable and the breakfast was OK but nothing to write home about. It was an adequate place to stay for the night. We would stay there again. This hotel offered a $64 rate available on the Choice Hotel website, but when I booked it online, the hotel claimed to have never received my reservation. So booked the hotel directly over the phone, but ended up paying $88.79 including tax, very overpriced, considering the quality of the room. This hotel is nothing close to the quality that I would have expected from a Choice Hotel property--a real disappointment, to say the least. The hotel looks run down, poorly maintained, and needs a complete overhaul. The room was dirty and dilapidated, very drab. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. My wife found a cockroach in the bathroom, and the door to the bathroom looked like someone had punched a hole in it. There was no hot breakfast (supposedly due to the Coved-19 virus), and the only water offered was for purchase. I would never return to this hotel again, nor recommend it to anyone else. read more

Hello, I recently stayed at Quality Inn & Suites Mt Dora North, Saturday 3/13/21. My son was playing in a basketball tournament nearby and most of his team were staying at this hotel. I usually stay at Holiday Inn, this was my very first experience with a Quality Inn, the reviews were not the greatest however I decided to give it a try. I paid around $160, this hotel was very booked and they told me this was the last non-smoking room available. The tournament did not end till late so by the time I made it back to the hotel it was around 10pm. The staff, although behind glass, were not wearing masks. My first thought was, we are in the middle of a pandemic! I had a major issue with the room cleanliness and have included pictures for your review. Although the staff was friendly, the whole room, minus the king bed sheets looked and felt dirty and not sanitized. The shower floor was stained and disgusting, we put a towel down inside the shower just so we did not have to touch the dirty floor. As we were getting ready for bed I noticed that there was no linen for the pull out bed. Frustrated, but went to the office and got the linen. Came back, made the bed, and noticed that there were cigarette burn marks on the blanket, mind you we do not smoke and specifically requested a non-smoking room! This room needs major deep cleaning, I can guarantee that this room has not been properly cleaned in a long time. Considering that there is a pandemic going on I feel that this is unacceptable. This room was down right disgusting. I'm requesting reimbursement for my stay. While booking this room I signed up for your reward program and was really looking forward to the perks the program has to offer. However I must say I am highly disappointed and am not sure if I can even give your company another chance.  Not to mention I am very concerned about the cleanliness of the entire property. read more

We just left this Quality Inn. Our initial experience with this establishment was calling to make sure we were booked into a room for 2 nights since I never received an email with a confirmation number from the booking agent. When we spoke to the front desk we were told no one by our name was booked. I was so bothered by this that I called the booking agent after holding on the phone at booking. Com for over a half hour we were given the confirmation number of our booking to this hotel. We again called the front desk and after giving them the number they finally found us. They registered us under our last name as our first name. When we arrived to our room, our first impression was to walk back out. The room was very musty smelling and the back of the door was filthy. I gave it a 3 star because the rest of the room was fine and the beds were VERY comfortable. The front desk staff were very polite and welcoming and the breakfast area attendant was an extremely friendly and courteous man. We WOULD stay here again. read more

They don't let you change the input on the tv. No game consoles, no DVD players, only cable. Pretty unnecessary and honestly just a garbage policy. I want to be able to use the entire tv. Stuffed my bag with my playstation for nothing. read more

I also had to wipe down Counters, dresser and doors as they were heavily soiled with hand prints and dirt. My room had a bad water leak stain on the ceiling but no active leak. Although, the room didn't smell, had clean linens, nice furniture and clean carpets.
