I was able to work out with limited equipment, the pool was clean but maintenance needs more oversight to ensure the things are working properly. The only saving grace of this location was that the staff was apologetic and the room was fairly clean. Other than that--what a train wreck. Let's start with the pool. The shower handle in the attached wash room was busted off. One of the lights inside the pool was floating on the surface and all the caulking that was supposed to hold it in place was black and floating around in it. Not to mention the HUGE hair ball which, if it gained sentience, could have easily eaten my small nephew. The signage to get out to the pool was also very confusing. It directed us to go outside which, apparently, was not how you get to the pool. Then when we tried to get back inside the door clearly marked "use room key to enter" didn't work. Apparently, according to staff, it's not supposed to? Yeah, we didn't understand either. Every surface that wasn't in our room was dirty. From the stairs to the doors to the walls--all were covered in a thin layer of brown grime. Finally, the windowsill was completely full of gunk because the screen in the window of our second story room was busted out, which made me think the last people took matters into their own hands and jumped. Don't blame them tbh. (But seriously, the window opened far enough that a grown man could've jumped out of it and the screen was wire, so it's definitely not new and had been that way for a long time.) The front desk clerk was rude and disrespectful. He charged us the deposit and denied us any extra pillows, blankets,or towels. He told us they were all dirty. And also told us that they don't have a roll away bed when I know for a fact that all hotels have them because I used to work at one. I booked the king suite (room 118) so that I could take a nice, relaxing bath in the whirlpool tub. The room itself isn't too bad, but definitely isn't nice- especially with COVID restrictions in place. When entering, you are in the living area. The bathroom is to the right. In this room there is a pull out couch, small dining table, counter space with a microwave and mini fridge, a desk with chair, TV w/ stand (26"?), and a lounge chair. There is a doorway into the bedroom (no door) right across from the bathroom, with a large whirlpool bathtub, TV w/ stand/dresser (26"?), king size bed, 2 nightstands, a desk with no chair, and a lounge chair. Both rooms have exit doors to a little courtyard on the opposite wall as the entrance door, and multiple lamps. The furniture is outdated and grungy. The lampshades are tattered. The room has multiple bulbs burnt out, and I had to turn each lamp on individually. In the bedroom, one of the end tables drawer faces was chipped and falling apart. Where the carpet meets the wall/tile is falling apart and there are broken tiles There were finger smudges on the headboard. The sheets seemed clean, but the comforter was stained in multiple areas. In the living room, the corners in the ceiling were covered in cobwebs above the "kitchenette". Many stains and dirty spots on the walls. The bathroom seemed generally clean, but this bathroom needs a new toilet seat. This one is visually "peeling" and falling apart-definitely not up to par for a hotel. The slower curtain has rips/holes in it. The whirlpool drains slowly, and is missing some pieces, but that is what I came for and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I was able to sit up with my knees to my chest and the water covered to my neck (I'm 6'). There are 4 jets (2 on each end opposite sides of each other) that aren't very powerful. There are 2 different controls (air and water pressure I assume).The tub was big enough for 2 tall & large adults, the towels provided, on the other hand, were not. Also, for being a non-smoking room, there were ashes in the bathroom, along the bathtub wall, and between the bed and end table. They either need new staff or need to train staff how to properly clean in a normal era, but especially in this COVID era. They clearly don't deep clean, and barely clean in general. I got the room at a discounted rate. The normal rate was $96 I believe. I would not have paid that much and been satisfied or stayed if I'd not had the discount. read more

Yikes! Where do I start? After spending a long day on the road, all I want is a nice room to relax in and a comfortable bed to get a good night's rest before meeting with the customer the next day. I knew I was going to have issues as soon as I pulled up. The building is dilapidated, in need of updating and a good cleaning around the grounds. I was greeted by a surly individual behind the counter and checked me in to my room. I had to carry my luggage up a flight of stairs because there is no elevator in the building. I got up to my room and found that the ceiling had a lot of water damage due to the rain. They were able to move me into another room that was much better than the first, but still no prize. I hate finding someone else's hair in the tub; who doesn't? The in-room coffee maker had no coffee cups to make the coffee in, maybe that was a good thing, who knows what bacteria was growing in that. The carpeting was filthy and stained and I didn't even want to walk barefoot across it. At least the bed sheets seemed clean and free of stains. The furniture was beat-up and rundown. The pool was under repair and the TV cable went out on the first night followed by the internet the next night. The only saving grace was the lounge at night and free breakfast in the morning, which was always the same so it gets old fast. I highly recommend that you stay somewhere else when visiting Fort Dodge, IA. read more

"Quality" is not the adjective I would use to describe this hotel/motel.... I'm currently laying here in bed in the middle of the night listening to a smoke alarm beep in the hallway due to a low battery. I called the front desk and spoke to Carrie about the problem, and she pretty much told me I was out of luck because there were no maintenance people on duty. I asked her if we couldn't just track down some batteries so I could sleep tonight, and she said no. Guess I'll be dragging a chair out into the hall to take care of the problem myself. On top of the constant beeping that Carrie could not care less about, I've been uneasy this whole stay because the door that goes outside does not have a working deadbolt. You turn it, and it just spins and spins. Not ideal for a woman traveling alone for work, in a room that opens up to an empty courtyard behind the hotel. Also, I thought my room's AC unit might be a little faulty because no matter how low I set the thermostat (down to 66° at night), the air stays super humid. After talking to my coworkers in two other rooms, though, they commented the same thing. They said their room felt less humid leaving the window open (we just got a bunch of rain here so it's humid outside) than when they had the AC on. Lastly, you will despise trying to watch TV unless you choose one channel for your entire stay, and just leave it there. The remotes are the super cheap universal ones that are laggy, and the TV takes about three seconds to switch between channels. Silly thing to complain about, I know, but I'm super annoyed with this place. So to sum up this review I'm leaving, if it weren't for the terrible customer service of Carrie who could have at least *acted* like she was sorry that I'm going to be up all night listening to a dying smoke alarm, I wouldn't have the time to leave this. But here we are... Thanks for at least giving me something to do while lying here, Carrie. read more

Pictures are deceiving. I read the reviews on google and seen the main complain was that the American flag was flown wrong. So I decided to give this place a chance. I'll start with the things I didn't like. The room had no wifi as advertised, the was dusty, the bath tub filled with water when I took a shower, and the tub was dirty. The heater was off when I came to the room. Who knows how long the blower was off so it blew dust in the air making my stay uncomfortable. I coughed through the night from the dust. Now the things I did like the bed was comfortable and the shower had a good shower head with good water pressure. I'll never stay at this Quality Inn again. read more

I truly wasn't expecting such a nice room for such a low price. This is by far the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The room was huge and very clean. My favorite things about the room: fridge, free shampoos and lotions, bigger shower, a nice shower head with adjustable settings, and the bedding was super clean with no stains. I also loved the breakfast, they had eggs, bagels, waffles, sausage, etc. There is also an indoor pool and spa and a bar. I highly recommend! read more

So we stood there waiting to check in and when the lady finally came she looked like she had just been outside for a smoke break and was more concerned about getting a drink of pop before helping us with the check in. Not sure if she even knew what she was doing since it took her 4 times to find our information and run the card. I had booked a King room (back in April), but we got a room with 2 doubles. When I called down to the front desk she said there was something that went wrong with their reservations and some people had lost their reservations, so basically be happy I even got a room I guess. I had just been down checking in and this same lady never said anything about our room getting changed. I explained that I had booked this room almost 2 months ago and therefore our room shouldn't have gotten changed , but she said she couldn't do anything about it. No apologies, nothing. She said the hotel was completely booked out and she couldn't change the room. Weird how the parking was never even half full even late at night when you would expect everyone would be in for the night. When the front desk told us to drive around to the back of the building and go in that way the door was broken. We tried using the room key and nothing would work. Luckily another couple was coming out and they said the front desk had told them the door was broke and that they would have to come in the lobby door. I guess that would have been nice if she had just told us that since we were just in there. The next morning we went for breakfast and the "hot" part was lukewarm at best. I even had to walk into the employee area to ask someone to please come out and refill the milk, even though this same worker had just walked though without even checking to see if anything needed refilling. Tried taking a shower after breakfast and no hot water. We tried letting it run a little to see if it warmed up and it never did. Not a great start to the day. I also had booked through a travel agent and paid for my hotel back in April. However when I got to the hotel they said it had never been paid for. So I had to give them my card and they essentially double charged me. Waited until Monday morning to call the hotel to say they had double charged, said not our problem. Called the travel agent who called the hotel herself, they were rude to her as well. Called the agency the agent works for and they had someone call the hotel who finally got it taken care of after 35 minutes on hold. This place is so unprofessional and unorganized if they are losing reservations or double booking and then saying they can't find the payment which was made 2 months ago. This hotel was very dated and shabby to say the least. The hallway we were in was filled with garbage and garbage cans. It seemed that there might have been people staying there that were extended stay and were just throwing their garbage in the hallways. The carpeting in the stairways (no elevators) was dirty and torn. The room itself was decent but the bathroom was not clean. Stayed here from 8/4/15 to 8/13/15. I had several problems while staying here. 1. The ice machines on both the first and second floor did not work the entire stay. 2. There were many strange stains on the floors in the hallway that looked like water damage. 3. There appeared to be mold on the shower ceiling. 4. None of the doors were key locked as they said they were. 5. Pool was closed 4 of the 9 days but no explanation as to why was given. 6. The sauna was closed 5 of the 9 days but no explanation as to why was given. 7. Pool was dirty, had rocks and leaves in it even though it was an indoor pool. 8. Had to constantly ask for towels in the pool area. 9. Game room was next to the pool so room was extremely hot and had cockroaches running around on the walls and floor (way gross). 10. When the vending machines ripped you off they would do nothing about it. 11. Internet was sketchy and would constantly kick you off without warning. 12. They changed the password to the wifi two days into my stay and didnt' inform anyone of this change until you called and said you had a problem. 13. Are walls looked like they had recently been patched for holes in them. 14. Found a cricket in our room. 15. Car was messed with twice (Door handle had been messed with and was stuck in the upright position as if someone tried to open it and front license plate was nearly bent in half), when I told the hotel about this they only told me since its not on their property (which apparently only refers to the inside of the hotel only) that the only thing I could do is call the police and make a police report. read more
