We contacted them at 8:00 in the…read moremorning and asked if they gave free estimates, and specified that we did not want any work done till we had a quote and confirmed. They arrived with in 30 minutes of the quoted time. After looking at the situations, we asked for a quote for just tree cutting (cutting the fallen tree to manageable sections) and one quote for complete removal. The complete removal was quoted to be $1400. I said that it sounded great and asked him to please send me a written quote to ensure that the price and work expectations will be the same. He said okay, and asked me to text the email to him. Within roughly less than 3 hours, and 4 exchanges... he finally sent me a written quote of $2100. When inquired if it was an error, he texted back and said "It's not a mistake; sometimes it happens when you look for several quotes and then you make a decision" 10:20 I texted my email to him as requested at the end of meeting 11:50 He texted me and that he sent the quote. He only sent for cut only, not for cut and haul. So I immediately asked for a full clearing quote. 1:09 I get the quote for full clear and asked if it was an error - much more than discussed 1:19 he said "It's not a mistake; sometimes it happens when you look for several quotes and then you make the decisions." A company that literally jacked up your price because you were shopping for a quote - is not trustworthy to perform work without written quote.. Would not recommend work without written quote for buyer protection. We did not have them waiting for an unreasonable amount of time by any stretch of the imagination - most of it was waiting for them to send me written quotes. Pictures just to give you the idea of how interested I was and really wanted a written estimate.

After coming out in person to assess the trees, they provided us with what seemed like a solid, straightforward quote. We scheduled the work based on that agreement -- only for them to come back later demanding a higher price ($400 more) and insisting they also take the cut wood that we very clearly said we wanted to keep. They used to excuse for wanting to take the wood as there reason to not complete the job. As if that wasn't frustrating enough, communication completely fell apart after that. They stopped responding, never followed through on the revised plans, and ultimately wasted our time. We rearranged our schedules for their availability, only to be left hanging with no explanation. Professionalism, reliability, and honest pricing matter -- and unfortunately, this company fell short on all three. I would not recommend them based on our experience.

I wasn't able to remove my review so I am writing an update to say that they did come back out. I ended up cleaning most of it because I had another company grind my stumps and they needed it cleared in order to work so I put the debris and black walnuts into bags and just asked A Tree Service to take the bags and clean the rest. After a few more days, calls and text they did manage to come back out. Wish this company the best moving forward. My advice is to triple check the work before they leave and be sure the guy in charge checks his workers.

I cannot say enough positive things about this company. If you need tree work done and you do not at least call MRB and get a quote it is your loss. They were amazing for a very competitive price compared to 2 others who quoted. Mike was very nice and forthcoming on the work. I got a quote with pictures detailing what would happen. Prior to the work we had some heavy rain, Mike called and he pushed back the work so the yard could dry and would cause less damage to my yard. Super nice about it too. He had a large crew with multiple pieces of large equipment. Everyone was professional and did excellent work. 1 tree was close to 2 houses and a fence, no problem for these guys. They plywood boarded my side yard where they had to drive alot of the equipment. Considering how much rain we had had a couple days before, and the fact that all the water from my house and my neighbors runs under my gate, my yard was left in great shape (be realistic...they're cutting down and hauling away trees, some grass will be tread over...it'll be okay). Mike's guys did a great job on cleanup by raking and leaf blowing. They even scooped up and hauled away the mounds left over from grinding the stumps. My father in law brought a trailer for the large logs and Mike's crew gladly loaded it with their tracked loader. No questions asked no complaints. It took 3 trips and Mike offered to have his crew wait a couple minutes to load up the trailer with the last load. We got back in time so he didn't have to wait but it was very kind of him to offer. I can't say enough good things about the job they did. Please support this business. For all the crummy contractors I've run into I want to keep the good ones around for the next time I need to have work done.
