But after our experience…read morewith Creative Soul Music School in Southlake, I feel a responsibility to share our story and warn other families. We enrolled our 6-year-old daughter in their music camp which is advertised for children ages 3 to 6. The camp description promised singing, bubbles, and playful music activities ; a joyful, age-appropriate introduction to music. But that is not what we got. On day one, there was no singing, no games, just a group of older kids doing more advanced performance work. Our daughter was the youngest in the group, and we had no idea why the experience was so off until I emailed the school that night. Only then was I told that she had actually been placed in the 7-and-up camp instead, because the younger group that week was mostly made up of 3-year-olds. We were never informed of this change ahead of time and had no chance to consent or opt out. To make matters worse, the group she was placed in was filled with children who already had music experience, most of them returning students at the school. I watched as they sat in a circle introducing themselves and listing the instruments they played. Our daughter had no experience and sat there with her stomach in knots, completely overwhelmed, intimidated, and teary-eyed. When I quietly asked the instructor if he had experience supporting children who are nervous or new to music, he replied in front of her, "No, I don't really know how to do that." He wasn't mean, but he clearly didn't have the training or instinct to help her feel included. No effort was made to support or reassure her. Eventually, I asked for help at the front desk, and a kind employee named Kenna offered to sit with her and gave her some coloring to do. That was the extent of her first day. No music, to group fun, just coloring off to the side. We were told Kenna wouldn't be available past Tuesday, so it wasn't a sustainable solution. The next day, we tried again, but it was worse. The kids had already formed performance groups. Since our daughter hadn't been part of the group activities the day before, she had no place to go. We stood in the room waiting for someone to include her, or offer some guidance. No one did. There was no plan. No effort. And our daughter bawled her eyes out begging to leave. She's been to several camps this summer and loved every single one. This was not typical first-day jitters. This was a terrible feeling for a parent, to leave your child in a place that has no idea what to do with her and makes no effort to figure it out. I reached out, hoping the school would make it right. I asked for a refund and when they wouldn't give me that, I asked if we could use what we already paid as a credit for private lessons with someone trained in early childhood. Instead, I was told we'd need to pay again and officially enroll in private lessons and then they'll grant me "free" make-up sessions as their offering. Why would we spend more money with a business that already failed our daughter, just to be allowed to try again? I cc'd the founder on my last message, hoping he might weigh in or show some care. He never responded. We had planned to sign both of our children up for fall music lessons here. But after this experience, the lack of transparency, the lack of support, the refusal to make it right, we will not be returning. I'm sure they will reply to this review with their version of events, but these are the facts. Our daughter was placed in the wrong group without our knowledge, received none of what was promised, and was left feeling anxious, out of place and in tears. And the school chose to keep our payment instead of doing the right thing. Please think carefully before enrolling your child here. The marketing sounds wonderful. The follow through was anything but. It's a cash grab and they'll take anyone they can enroll, in whatever group, at the expense of the child.

From that date until November 11, 2025 we had 11 scheduled lessons in those 11 lessons 3 times the teacher was not there. One of those times she just forgot it was Tuesday. On top of the 3 lessons that the teacher just wasn't there she was at least 3-5 minutes late for the ones that she did show up to. Their policy is to NOT call and let the students know that their teacher won't be there but to just put them with someone else who doesn't know where they are and with no regard as to teaching style. It feels like overall the business just wants to get as many kids as possible through the doors. The lady who works the front desk at the Hulen location on Tuesday is amazing and is very kind and helpful about everything.

I am really disappointed in my experience with Creative Soul Music School. We originally signed up…read morebecause of a teacher we loved, but that teacher quit unexpectedly during the season. After that happened, there were no other lesson times that worked for us with a teacher we preferred, so I reached out to cancel. I used their Contact Us form on the website and also called to cancel, but I never received a response. A couple of months later, they contacted me saying they had not received payment. I explained that I had already sent a message requesting cancellation months earlier. They told me their policy is that cancellation only becomes effective thirty days after they send a cancellation form, but they never sent one. They even acknowledged that they do not regularly check their emails and said I should have come in person to cancel. I do not understand why I am being penalized when they were the ones who were unresponsive. I followed the process that was available to me at the time. For them to refuse to honor the date I originally contacted them feels unfair and comes across as a way to keep charging customers longer. Their pricing is also very high for what you actually receive. We have since switched to a private tutor who charges half the price, is more flexible, and also offers recitals. There are clearly better options out there. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Creative Soul. The communication, policies, and customer service were very frustrating.

Getting signed up to TAKE lessons there is easy, My story is about trying to STOP taking lessons there. When I signed up Joshua had told me about the 30 -days notice but NEVER said WRITTEN 30 days notice and NEVER said that in addition you had to fill out THEIR FORM which you also have to get from them! So I took three lessons and decided to quit due to numerous problems with scheduling and teacher no-shows. I gave Joshua 30 days notice IN PERSON but was made to pay for a whole other month after that because of a technicality. I didn't think it was quite fair but OK, I'll pay for another month if that's the rule. THEN Joshua said that because I had cancelled a week into another month I had to pay for that month too. This was ridiculous but just paying THIS $159 was easier than fighting with them and AGAIN, I confirmed with Joshua that I had quit and told him specifically that therefore I did NOT authorize any further charges on my credit card after this one. He said nothing about any form or other notice or whatever. SUMMARY: When I received notice of this last $159 charge I thought it must just be a mistake but no. I school says they haven't received THEIR FORM back. WHAT FORM??? So I have now been charged $159 each month for FOUR months of lessons...(or 4 weekly lessons for four months) which would equal 16 lessons. SIXTEEN lessons! I've ONLY HAD THREE. So let's see, each lesson cost me $200. A little high to pay for some teenager or 20-something to teach. It's basically at this point that whether there's a signed form or not or whether they told me about it is really not the issue anymore. I mean, do you really want to do business with someone who thinks it's OK to charge you that much money for nothing based on mis-communication or instead of working with you or contacting you or doing SOMETHING to work it out instead of just smiling at you standing firm and not budging and taking your money no matter what the reason. I don't. I question their business intelligence. Is it really worth $159 to piss off a client so badly that they write reviews like this? It seems it would be more valuable to STOP charging the client $159 and save the expense of hurting their reputation. Makes you wonder either how smart they are, how hurting for money they are or who is actually running the ship over there. Hello???....Samantha and Casey Thomas??? Are you there??? Ok..I'm not criticizing the quality of instruction, but this is clearly a VERY expensive option. I…read morebelieve they're franchised and likely have overhead costs that drive some of this. But check my math: monthly lessons for $360/month. To make it easy, assume 4 weeks per month...so that's 4 lessons for $360, or $90 per lesson. Here's the real kicker...they're 45 minute lessons, not hour long. So, $90 for 45 minutes is $2 per minute. If you extrapolate this to the standard 1 hour lesson (I mean come on, you only offer 45 minute lessons?), then it's $2/minute x 60 minutes or $120 an hour!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me? $120 per hour? You can get a professional engineer designing a spaceship to Mars for that rate. Ridiculous. Work a standard year at those rates and you're pulling in $240k. Yikes. I wouldn't be surprised if the monthly rate and 45 minute sessions are all part of the marketing to hide the fact they charge over $100 per hour.
