I've been at Quantum Rehab for a little over a month now. I find the staff absolutely wonderful. In particular, the nursing care is top notch! I would specifically like to mention Christelle and Roxy. The supervising nurses Diane and Jess are exemplary in their field! The doctors provided top notch medical care. I recieve all my medications as required and the PT department is one of the best I've ever experienced. The entire time I've been here, Guest Relations has stayed on top of everything. Repeatedly stopping in to make sure I am comfortable and getting everything i need. Of course, in any organization there may be one or two disgruntled workers, and in my time here only once I had an aid who was not up to par. So dont give up, at one moments bad taste because this facility has provided me with a 99.9% absolutely everything i needed to get me back on my feet, and get me walking out the door to go home. my mother was transferred there after her spinal fusion surgery. it was the most horrific experience. On the 6th day i had to get her to the hospital where she was admitted. The place is dirty, some staff members are certainly not willing to help and it smells like feces in there. The smell was explained away by claiming that the adjacent building had a back up that affected quantum's building. I will start out by saying do not go to this facility period!!!! Per reviews provided from Stonybrook 5 out of 5!!! I came to sign my mother out on the 17th day at this facility!!! The insurance only covers 20 days stay!! I was told by the social worker/staff no problem we have programs to assist after the 20th day!!!! My mom being on over 11 meds at this facility signed a document without a family member present that she will cover the co-pay. My mother 79 yrs young thought co-pay is $25.00 . When I finally checked my mom out of this facility, in her mail was a bill for $4818.50!!!! After contacting the business unit in Baldwin, NY the young lady told me that the bill is actually $7,751.50($209.50 per day)!!!! If a program could not be found for my mother, why did it take $7,751.50 to make her aware & the family!!! We only live around the corner from this facility.!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!!! read more

If you care for your loved ones, look to place them somewhere else! My wife needed to be transfered from an acute rehab hospital to a sub acute rehab facilty. We choose Quantum because it claims to be a "brain Injury certified facility". Not sure of any extra attention or difference in her care compared to any other patients there, other than some more therapy time. As far as her health care concerns there was no extra attention to the needs of a patient with a brain injury. The therapy department is good. For three hours a day (M-F) my wife recieved services much needed. The other 21 hours her safety and well being were in jepordy. We experienced such bad care and lack of attention to the patients, that one of our family members stayed with her from 6am-9pm every day and then we paid for a private aides to watch her through the night. We had to be there 24 hours a day. As a brain injury patient, she suffered from some delusions and concerns for seizures. No precautions were made to attend to those needs. She could be in her room for literally hours before someone would stick their head in to check on her. To list a few: -Meds to be given at 9am and 9pm. Most times they came up to three hours late on either end ( and that's with us there staying on top of them). - At times they missed or didn't have some of the medications needed. Again, if we were not there to constantly check it could have potentially been a problem. Her medications included much needed siezure meds and controlled substance brain injury medications. They need to be administered on a strict time table. The way they administered medications lacks consistency and control. - Some of the Nurses had very poor attitudes and lacked compassion for their patients. Often many of the aides on an eight hour shift were invisble for hours. - If you ring the call bell for a nurse or aide, good luck. I timed up to eighteen minutes for someone to come into the room. Next time you have to go to the bathroom when you are in bed at night, hold it for eighteen minutes! Again, that's with one of us in the hall trying to get anyone's attention. Nights and weekkends were the worse! When I inquired, on several occasions, I was told they were short staffed. Is that the answer you really want for the care of someone? - The smell in the hall ways is nauseating (especially in the early mornings) because by the time a call bell is answered the patient goes in their diaper. My wife was unable to go to the bathroom on her own so they expected her to wear a diaper and just go. Again, if we were not there to assist her that is what would happen. In fact the first night there the aide told me it was policy to wear a diaper and issued gown at night. I went right to the nurses station on night one to question that and was told I could put her in her own PJs. - After 10 days there, I never saw the Dr. assigned to her. No where to be found! Only his NP would occasionally come in. - The communication from one shift to the next, from nurse to nurse is non existent. On several occasions a nurse told me they would leave a note for the next shift on a very important missed medication or other key issue. When the next nurse came on I would bring it to their attention and was told there was nothing in the notes to indicate it. -The cleanliness of the rooms are appauling. Her room was briefly cleaned once in ten days. Several times I had to bring the waste baskets out of the room. - I took my wife out of Quantum. It was brutal and it was detrimental to her health and well being. - If you want to take a tour, ask to go in there at 6am or 11pm, especially on a weekend. You will never go back. - This facilty needs to be investigated by the authorities that govern it. There are too many shortcomings to this facilty to list. IT IS DANGEROUS AND NOT SAFE!!!!! read more

There are many issues in this place food is absolutely horrible and almost unedible the help specially the night crew very lacking and not as attentive as they should be they have to be reminded about certain medications that I'm supposed to get it gets tiring after a while and some of the bad attitudes is can be hurtful I can go on with a lot of different things I don't know how this place even gets any kind of other reviews that I looked at probably harder people to do it but this is probably one of the worst rehabilitation centers I've ever seen read more

the care is great. the physical therapy is fantastic. thé CNA'S are great their dedicated to their job. im told the food has gotten bad so they need to improve the food by getting better chiefs. the rooms are nice, they have lots of activities for the patents, bingo, pokino is deck of playing cards, movies, they just had an event this past Sunday, they have a bakery free, hair salon, nails, garding in spring and summer , outside tables and chairs, they have somthing on holidays for the patents. First, a basic truth, for the most part, no one wants to be in a nursing home/rehab facility. Many people will be in on a short-term basis and many longer term with a wide range of medical conditions. They're difficult places to be. And importantly there's not nearly as much continual attention as in a hospital. I've had experience with four nursing homes over the years. My "review" here of Quantum only concerns my personal experiences and very importantly, I was not the patient, a relative was who I'm very involved in the care of. (So yes, I will see things from a very different perspective than the patient.) I found the personnel at Quantum to be very helpful and concerned. When the patient was admitted, during their stay and at their discharge. I found many of the employees there to be very friendly and willing to try to help and encourage the patient. They've been efficient at taking care of paperwork, helping me with paperwork, referring me to home care and connecting me with an agency for visiting nurse and other services. Was everything perfect, no, but I think they did a good job overall and I'm very appreciative to them for that. I left multiple messages with the social worker and she always responded to me and was very helpful. Generally, none of this is easy, there are always medical conditions to deal with. (AND NO, I am NOT connected to Quantum or any of their personnel, that is not why I'm writing a positive review.) read more

I chose 1 star because I had to in order to post this- they don't even deserve that. My mother was here after having a stroke in January-This place is terrible- rude and neglectful. I can be somewhat understanding of being short staffed. My mother was in there for about 6 weeks- in that time, she fell 3 times because she was sick of being stuck in her wheelchair waiting for someone to help and attempted to do it herself. They would put her food in front of her and not help her after saying she has no upper body strength. She was supposed to be on the "toilet schedule" yet in all my visits (at least twice a week for a few hours a time) NOT ONCE did someone come in and ask if she needed the bathroom. Now............ she was discharged 4 days ago and has been in the hospital since 3 days ago with blood clots in both legs. read more

Quantum Rehabilitation has been my second home for the past 4 years and there's no where I'd rather work. I've learned so much from all my supervisors, coworkers and residents. The care quality is amazing, the staff always goes above and beyond for the residents and their families. The therapeutic recreation department ran by Angela S has done an amazing job making sure every member of the Quantum family has a smile on their faces each and every single day. Steve L, the admin has worked, day and night to better our facility and always has our best interest at heart. **Beware** this nursing home as the worst social workers who will keep you there longer than necessary! They completely took advantage of a patient with no family. Avoided his care, missed his discharge appointments only to keep him there passed his necessary time so they could charge him. There is a man named Paul who works in the social work department who lied to us about his billing and is now denying what he told us. Please be very aware of your coverage as this place does not care and will lie and put you and your family in a bad position without any care. Mr.Steven Lewis is in charge there and did not properly investigate this matter or offer to make it right. I cannot imagine how many other patients have been taken advantage of at this place.
