2.5 STARS Very clean pub with an OK view of the marina. Unfortunately the hotel parking partially blocks the view. Very friendly staff....although waitress was run off her feet and forgetful... forgot my beer twice. I was there on wing night. Wings were bigger in average but cooked way too long. First off to the chefs: the food was really good. This review isn't for you and I hope you all look for jobs at a better place. For the 5 of us tonight, this was the WORST service we've ever had in our 40ish years on this planet. So comically bad we kept looking for the 'how polite can Canadians really be' hidden camera. Our waitress kept making excuses about how swamped she was - the place was less than half full on a Saturday night. Our experience: - no menus or any acknowledgement at our table for about 10 minutes - 15 more minutes before asking us for a drink order (table beside us loudly and rightfully complaining they were there before us and hadn't even been acknowledged!) - 20 more minutes to get the drinks - one missing! So 45 minutes to get almost a round of beer. And then things went downhill. - wrong appetizer. - cutlery and napkins dumped on the table in a pile! - one dinner didn't come. Her response: oh and you didn't order anything sir! - bills never came. Went to pay, she couldn't figure it out. Never asked for more drink orders, or anything of the sort. Poorly managed. High staff turnover means its hit or miss. Inconsistent and always out of basic drinks.

We loved this place. Ate here both nights that we were in Port Hardy and had breakfast too. Staff are friendly and attentive. The food is delicious. They have a special appetizer called firecrackers that were a nice surprize. The Yorkies were really good and so was the calamari. For a main we had halibut and yam fries. As good as you can get anywhere on the Island. They have happy hour drink specials until 7 pm. Nice breakfast included if you're staying in the hotel. Right on the water with a great view. read more

We ate breakfast and dinner here as it was attached to our hotel. The breakfast was a little disappointing. I ordered the pancakes and didn't even finish as they tasted like onions. I guess the grill wasn't clean when they were put on. Or they have invented a new flavor revolution. That's it from now on I'm going to cut garlic then cut fruit with the same knife, or maybe I will put a few chunks of onion in a fruit salad! Well you get my meaning. The eau to onion was not expected and nor was it welcome. For dinner I ordered a Caesar salad and french onion soup. The soup was so salty I had to send it back and ask them to add some hot water. The salad was nothing special, no really, I think it came out of a bag. The service is alright if you are just looking for a place to have a drink. I have a great memory of this place! I was crewing on a boat that was passing through here, the boss (some rich yuppie) was being a jerk, so I decided to head out that night and have some fun. Ended up on an adventure with a couple locals, which further confirms my opinion that BC folks are among the coolest I've personally encountered just about anywhere. Anyway, about the pub. I wish there was an option to use half stars. This place was average in all aspects of food taste and quality. Service was friendly so maybe the two stars is appropriate. I had the 8oz NY steak cooked medium rare. For the $19 price, i would have expected better. The dinner came with vegetables and fries/mashed or baked potato. I trade the potatoes for a caesar salad. The steak seemed a bit tough and bland. Almost like it was previously frozen. The veggies were just carrots, broccoli and peppers. Not fancy but i expected a better veggie selection. We were in town overnight to catch a boat the next day and this looked like one of the more likely places to have dinner. They've got a decent selection of brews on tap and a full bar. Hubbie ordered the steak dinner which came with real mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. My beef short ribs turned out to be slices of roast beef with packaged brown gravy. Fine cuisine it isn't, but then we are at the end of the supply chain at the end of the island, and the staff were great. read more

Breakfast is free here with your room at the hotel. Not the usual cereal either! French toast and bacon or eggs, toast and bacon. Coffee included. Rooms are clean and water is hot. There is use of full kitchen facilities in the lobby if you feel like a night in or go pick up a meal at the pub next door. read more

It appears the floors have not been cleaned in a very very long time. Pretty disgusting considering you eat here. This being a pub you would think there would be beer on tap right? We were told the cooler was out of service for a week and they don't have any beer on tap. This is not the end of the world but after all, this is a pub. The menu is quite limited and considering this is the Seaport town, you would expect A selection of seafood on the menu. That's not the case here. I'll certainly never return. read more

Only had breakfast here. Stayed at the hotel so the breakfast was complimentary. Our order of basic eggs/toast/sausage took around 40 minutes to arrive. And this was during breakfast hours... so there were only around a handful of other customers at the pub. We didn't bother with the complimentary breakfast on the second day. read more
