One of the only local Art galleries in Pensacola, it's in a great location, right across from the park downtown, with lots of foot traffic around.. Lackluster curb appeal with no colorful local "street art" on the sidewalk, just some postcards out front. Not a good use of a local arts storefront. You would think it would be inviting, with Bright, noticeable local art works from across the park but no. Growing up here in the City of Five Flags & around this area, The French Quarter, New Orleans area, where my grandparents lived, we are surrounded by immense beauty & natural wonders, both land & sea. The Spanish influences, Jazz, French influences, food & wine, British influences in Culture, the confederacy & American Indian historical history are all an extremely fascinating part of this area. We are so rich in our cultured history here, but unfortunately, not much local Artworks are currently available. Art represents the eye of the soul, the seat of the imagination, and the gateway to higher states of consciousness. Real Art gives us what we value, emotionally and epistemically. When it's real, truthful, it's transformative. No one buys art that doesn't speak to their heart. You either love it or hate it. And it's just bad art when you feel nothing. I am saddened by the lack of transformative arts in Pirate'cola. I left empty handed. My heart didn't find any real art, truthful art. Only artworks created based on false history, false narratives, fake ideologies, fake beliefs, fake religions, fake "beauty" all created in concepts of anti-humanism, programmed, inoculated, by artificial intelligence's mainstream media propaganda machine. As the proverb goes: "You are what you eat." You create by which you consume. Artworks created by artificial realities of consciousness, is artificial art. To be an artist, is to BELIEVE in real life. I Believe we can do better. read more

We checked out this outstanding gallery before seeing a play at Pensacola Little Theater, it's just across the street and it was very nice! Founded in 1973, Quayside Gallery is one of the oldest and largest member-owned art galleries in the USe. It was constructed in 1873 as the Germania Steam Fire Engine and Hose Company. They feature new art shows every month on the main level and the artists are constantly showing new work throughout the remainder of the gallery. All the exhibiting artists here are juried into the gallery under stringent standards.Art workshops are periodically sponsored for members and the public. On the three expansive floors of this charming local gallery hosting a plethora of talented artists with various art mediums, 2D, 3D, Photography, Ceramics, Painting, Mixed medias, Jewelry and much more. There's over 100 local artists and over 5000 sq ft of art space so there's so much to see. I was tempted to buy something practically everywhere I looked but even if you are just curious, it's fun to go in and appreciate the talent. Have been a regular customer at the Quayside for years & shopped there regularly but over the past few years, the quality of art offered has gone down hill & I don't go much anymore. On a recent visit I saw a few talented artists works but the majority of offerings were amateur / home crafter items - much of what looks like church bazaar offerings or summer camp / school craft projects. Who ever runs the gallery needs to vet their artists & set higher standards for the artist & art they include. PS Although there is restroom, they do not allow their customers to use it. I am handicapped with limited mobility & was told to go to another store to use the bathroom! And the ladies operating the sales counter should be advised to be more professional. They were loud, bickering which was unpleasant & distracting for customers. read more

My niece loves art, so we stopped here after visiting the nearby museum. I didn't expect this to be a real art gallery, but I did expect a better collection of art. This place is a gallery for local artists, mostly. So if you want something beach, Pensacola, or fort related this is your place. Otherwise, keep it moving. read more

Leland Leonard (son of Reid Leonard founding member) creates these amazing hand crafted breakfast trays that are great one of a kind wedding or special occasion gifts! Quayside Art Gallery was founded in 1973 in the historic district of Pensacola. This building was originally constructed in 1878 as the Germania Steam Fire Engine and Hose Company. Living in Pensacola for a few months without car, there is not too many places that you can visit without paying beaucoup dollars for a taxi. Knowing that if I want to go to Panama city would cost 200.00 dollars in taxi, I decided to take the bus 2.00 dollars and get off at Pensacola downtown. Walking by I saw this gallery and being an art fan I had to stop and take a look. Also, it was free. They have three floors full of art, they have watercolor paints, semi-naked photos, and oil paints. They also have jewelry combine with stones, hand made wood ornamentals bowls, dishes, sculptures, and paint glasses. One of my favorite artist was Marianne McDonald, her oil paints reminded me European art from 1700 and 1800. Her work was very vivid, it makes you feel that you are part of that landscape. The other artist that caught my attention was Linda Devins. There was a painting where she has the main topic, then that painting has like two branches coming out in each side that blend perfectly with the center piece. I think that was awesome. I highly recommend to visit this place if you stop by Pensacola. read more

This is a great art gallery! Located in the historic district, just one block from Main St, it offers SO much art in all forms. It has three levels, so there is something for everyone. The quality of the work is very professional, yet the prices are reasonable. The gallery is a co-op, so the people who work there are artists who welcome you and are very helpful, yet allow you to walk around to explore and experience the art on your own. For such a small area of the country IMHO there are more talented artists here than in NYC. The gallery has something to please every artistic taste. The walls change frequently so there is something new to see every time I go. And don't tell the artists this. They aren't charging enough for their work... The gallery is beautiful and there is so much to see. Jewelers, painters, potters, furniture makers, and sculptors are all represented. And they even have a wonderful print room. I encouraged my brother who was celebrating his 91st birthday, October 5, 2015, to go with me to see the Quayside Art Gallery. He obliged me - and we both enjoyed our visit. We met three very cordial lady greeters and they were delightful, informative and they are Artists in their own right. Jeanne McGrath, Linda Hawthorne and Julia A. Johnson were very helpful with showing us around. I recommend this for any one interested in seeing some great art, rendered in various media. read more
