I love steak and Sonora Grill is one of the best steak places in CDMX. It's like their Ruth Chris,…read morebut lucky for us, the exchange rate gives us a great discount. When we went cocktails were buy on get one free, which put it at normal CDMX pricing. Cocktails are made well here. As for food, we got beef carpaccio, grilled octopus, truffle fries, rib eye cap and bone marrow tacos. More than enough food for 4 people. We actually had left overs and ate it 2 days later at the airport and it was still delicious!! The rib eye was cooked to perfection. Ask for salt service and they bring out a variety of salt to try on your steak, not that it needed it, just fun to try. The octopus was delicious too. So tender. The bone marrow tacos were good but very rich. But the end of our rich meal, we were t able to finish it. They finished it off with some fresh hot churros for us. Great experience! Trying to go to Sonora Prime anytime I get a chance, luckily it's in all major Mexican City.

We had bites and drinks before our main dish. The margaritas were popping. I had never had "lengua". It was so tender the broth in which it was served really hi the spot. The ambiance is great, a lil noisy but we were there during happy hours, the service was great! Our severs were really At tentative. I even got a margarita on the house. Overall great service, good food. Their specialty is steaks and they don't disappoint. I didn't go with a steak this time, I am glad I decided to have the lengua. The gravy type sauce that goes with it is so full of flavor.

If you want just a cut of beef, I recommend the Vacio. Vacio is a meat eater' s cut, very flavorful. The chorizo is delicious, like in South America. We also had the clerico and tried empanadas and pizza. It was all excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant to you.

It's dressed like an ok place, with murals, writings on the wall and sturdy wooden furniture. Aiming for that Uruguayan gaucho look I think. Oh and no restaurant would be complete without some big TV's with live performances of latin-american pop stars. Prior to eating here, I was inclined to make a reservation to ensure a table for us. "Silly Europeans!" my Mexican friends said laughingly, "... you don't need a reservation!". And right they were. The place was practically empty on a Wednesday night 8 pm. Lucky for us, cause it meant we were attended to promptly. The waitress was funny and helpful and explained everything we wanted to know about the things on the menu. The empanadas we ordered as appetizers were big and flavorful. Enough to satisfy me on a night when I wouldn't be terribly hungry. Soon after that the meat arrived. Again, huge portions of meat with sides of fries or salad. Mine was tasty, although overcooked and not 'rare' like I ordered it. One of my friends seemed to be eating mainly fat, as half of his cut was fat and therefore inedible. Pity. None of us could finish our main meals, by the way. So they offered kindly to wrap them up to take home. But as any human being knows, there's always room for dessert! Cue the - I bet you already guessed it - HUGE piece of chocolate pie. Split four ways to compensate for its dietary damage, but still we weren't able to finish it. It was definitely delicious though (chocolate with dulce de leche). But I think that's what my main beef is with this place: the insane portions. I'm just not such a big eater, so that might be part of it, but normally I have no problem finishing a meal. Mainly though: should you aim for quality or quantity? Personally, I'd think quality. Here at Don Asado I feel like they aim for more of a middle way. The quality isn't bad, but the quantity is too much. Compensate a little on the sizes of the meals, and I think you could gain a little more quality for the same price. If so, I'd definitely come back for some more of that divine chocolate cake.

It felt like a Parisian cafe because of the two sides the outdoor seating lined. It was nice to eat and people watch as well as have fresh air and space for the toddlers to make noise. I tried fried fish, a sandwich, and a chicken soup. The soup was hearty and felt like home. They had sports playing on the TVs so you could watch. The bad: This place was pricier than I expected. We probably should've tried the steak but we wanted something quick/affordable because of our toddlers who often cannot sit down for long at a restaurant. The interesting: My toddlers were both having a fit when we came so the kind workers here tried to give them a piece of chocolate to appease them. Thank you!
