YELP ELITE REVIEWED FOR A REASON - If you look through Yelp reviews in CDMX, you'll notice there just aren't that many Yelp Elite reviewers here. Maybe there's no strong local faction. What you will notice, however, is an unusually high concentration of Yelp Elite reviews for Gardela. There's probably a correlation there. At any rate, Gardela is one of many Argentine steakhouses in the city, and most pride themselves in their beef. In that vein, we ordered the dry-aged ribeye and a blue salad. The salad was large enough to be a meal for two and well composed, properly dressed, well balanced with inclusions. The vibe itself is also notable, immediately you feel at ease in an industrial upscale steakhouse with just a hint of steampunk. The service was also very attentive, and while there was a small inconsistency with the salad server, the fact that we had a dedicated server just for the salad tells you something about the level they're operating at. But the steak. Specifically, the dry-aged ribeye. Holy cheezits. This was one of the best steaks I've ever had. The fat was rendered to something closer to chicharrón than gristle, and while we ordered it medium, the meat was dense yet unbelievably tender. The interior marbling was rich and succulent, and the texture of the steak itself was almost surreal, like eating candy made of suede, or maybe like if beef could be caramel... It's hard to describe the combination of richness, smoothness, density, and still a very present, satisfying chew. For me, fat is usually something to work around. Here, it was more like a perfect crust like I'd dream existed in beef crème brûlée. Full disclosure, the steak was cut from a larger piece and dry-aged for about 30 days. Ribeye treated this way is particularly prone to greatness, so I can't speak to whether other cuts would reach the same heights. What I can say with certainty is this: if you're going to try a dry-aged ribeye, have one somewhere else first. Why? Because nothing you eat after this will quite live up to the experience you have here. You need a warm up act so you can really tell how spectacular this steak is. And with that... Happy eating from John Seeto!

On vacation in Mexico City and encountered this restaurant by chance. It did not disappoint. Dinner was exquisitely delicious and the ambiance was great. Service was excellent all throughout our dinning. Would definitely visit on my next trip. Every bite was worth it.$$$

Gardela was a highly recommended restaurant when I was doing research on top places to eat in CDMX so I made reservations prior to our trip in May. The experience was wonderful and it's a solid 4 star steak restaurant. Ambiance: lively, vibrant and offers both indoor dining and outdoor dining. This is a great spot to enjoy a lovely steak dinner with your date, with your friends and with your family. Service: top-notch. We were seated immediately after arrival although we were a few minutes early for our reservation. We were given menus right away and our waiter brought out the complimentary bread. Ordering to food arrival time was short, our waiter checked in on us multiple times throughout dinner. He made sure our steak was cooked just the way we preferred and he even mixed our salad for us and placed it on our plate. All the wait staff were super friendly and the hospitality was just blooming. Food: 4.5/5. The complimentary bread was super delicious. We were given different types and they were served hot. Every single one was good. I have never been to a restaurant that served bread as good as Gardela before, not even the Michelin stars. We ordered the peasant salad, grilled octopus two ways, one order of the Argentina New York steak and another order of the center cut filet (from Argentina). We requested the steak to be cooked medium rare. Portion sizes were very generous given the cost of the meal. Everything tasted delicious, the salad was fresh. The octopus was the highlight, grilled perfectly (crispy on the outside while the meat was tender with every bite). The center cut filet tasted better than the New York steak. The NY steak had too much tendons and too chewy so I docked 0.5 stars off of the food rating. Cost: $$. Very affordable meal. I wish steak house prices and service was this amazing in the Bay Area. If I return back to CDMX in the future, I will revisit this restaurant again.

The service is amazing from the moment you walk in to this beautiful and elegant restaurant. It is a higher level of attention. There were several servers that were part of the service and each one was well equipped to answer any of my questions. Also their suggestions for wine pairing were on point. Now, let's talk about the delicious dishes that were prepared for us. The beef carpaccio had different levels of flavors that made this appetizer excellent. The quality of products were top notch. We ordered the pizza for the kids and it was amazing.

If I have to pick a favorite restaurant in CDMX or Roma Norte alone, Gardela would be easily on one of my top 3 if not the 1st! My family and I are staying in Roma Norte for a few days at the Four Points by Sheraton (one of the best places to stay btw), and luckily Gardela is right across from us! They have high ratings on Yelp, Google etc. so we decided to book them for 8 on a Friday night and all of us had such a wonderful time. My bf and I also came back twice after that because they are that good!!! First off, the service is top notch at this place! Jessica is one of the main host at the front and she was so graceful! We had quite a few servers and all of them were super professional, knowledgeable and kind! I love love everyone here! Ambiance is very cozy and romantic and upscale! It is an Argentinian steak house! One thing I have to note is, although they are a steak house, I could've sworn they are also a bakery! Their complimentary breads are to DIE for!!!!!! You NEED to try all of their breads! So hot, fresh, soft, fluffy and light! Which normally you can't describe all that in a sourdough but theirs was delish! Also their garlic rolls! Yummm! Those two are my favorites! Then the food!! From the soup (jugo the carne and tortilla) were delicious, to their seafood such as the octopus carpaccio and salmon, to their grilled vegetables (so much flavor) to of course, their meat! Any cut, any part and any degree of cooking are all excellent here! We had a few people so we ordered enough different types and kinds of meat to try it out! So tender, juicy, and melts to the bone! They are all USA graded I believe! It was also my birthday so they brought out the super yummy chocolate (almost icecream like) cheese cake! They also blasted the Mexican version of the birthday song on the stereo and it was so awesome! If anything I woukd recommend they blast the Mexican birthday song to all patrons celebrating birthdays and not only the Spanish speaking parties! I cannot recommend Gardela enough to everyone! If you're in Roma Norte you need to try them out! If you're staying at Four Points you def need to walk over to check them out! Even if you're in CDMX you need to make a trek over wherever you are to check them out! I love this place! Solid 5 stars all across!

My traveling companion and I were walking the neighborhood we're staying in. Gardela has an elegant yet casual ambiance. Our waiter and table help were so attentive. We are light eaters so the tortilla soup and tacos that we ordered were delicious. Of course we left room for dessert which was a chocolate mousse slice of heaven. Totally recommend it.

Just arrived in Mexico City and Gardela was across the street from our hotel. Decided to stop in for lunch and we were so glad we did. We sat at the bar and Paulo was our bartender. He was awesome. They brought out some complimentary homemade bread with a chimichuuri sauce, a jalapeno butter and a spicy tomato sauce for dipping. All were great. We had a few cocktails and started with the green shrimp aguachile, which was out of this world. It was served with a green tomato salsa, avocado and roasted habanero chiles. Next we shared an order of the Chistorra and Sweetbreads. We could've kept eating but wanted to be hungry for dinner so we decided to stop there. But this was a great find and would highly recommend.

We had a great meal at this place. The service and food were impeccable. The ambiance was amazing. Overall a great experience.

I cannot say enough great things about this place. The prices were VERY reasonable especially for the quality of food, ambiance, and level of service I received. You can pick your cut of steak as well as sides and the server comes out to show you. The drinks were also delicious and appetizers were tasty. I will be returning next time I visit the city.

Definitely reasonable in price, gorgeous decor and interior. Patio season available for cool nights. Menu on iPad in English and Spanish. Staff has a mixed range of English speakers- meaning some people speak a little bit, and some can say a lot. One of my favorites of the night was bone marrow. Even came with a little show, with fire involved! Try not to go overboard when ordering sides because those sides can definitely be split amongst 3-4 people. We ordered picanha, sausage, mushrooms, fries, bone marrow, with wine for each of us. The total was like $60pp for a group of 3. With leftovers. If you dined at Brazilian steakhouse you would be paying nearly $100 with drinks included. Our server was amazing! Checked on us frequently, and made sure everything came out, kept our water filled. Service 5 out of 5. But this 5 star came from excellent service, excellent food, with quality and quantity. Including check out process!

Quite literally one of the BEST meals and service experiences I've ever had. I've traveled all over Europe and the United States...Gardela exceeded my expectations. Sergio Gallardo was our server and paid attention to every detail for our most memorable meal In Mexico. The food is fresh and delicious. Honorable mentions...beef carpaccio, salads, shrimp and steaks were incredible. Highly recommend!

Food was good. Sorrentine pasta was really good with pomodoro sauce. There is a appetizer sausage from Argentina that was really good. I forgot the name. The M&M cocktail is good, I believe it have mezcal and mango.

The restaurant atmosphere is beautifully designed. The staff very conscientious and dedicated. My friends stand refreshing cocktails and wine. We shared NY aged beef carpaccio with chilis and capers, beef empanadas that were flavorful and juicy. The shared rack of lamb which was served on roasted eggplant and an aged ribeye. Gilled vegetables that included peppers, onion, avocado, etc. We finished with desserts. Berry pavlova and an amaretto soufflé that was flambé at the table. That came with a dark chocolate gelato. This meal was one of my favorite experiences in Mexico.
