My supervisor set up the date with the coordinator. It's pretty easy, you go online and register. You do have to fill out a waiver, give basic information and Emergency contact. When we got there, I was amazed on how big the building is! This location is fairly new. I believe a year old. Attached with the warehouse is the market where families in need can check in and shop for groceries. This is a non profit organization so any volunteers they can get, is greatly appreciated. The groceries are donated by huge companies. Kroger and Fifth Third Bank play a huge part. You walk into the lobby and sign in. From there our coordinator took us to the back. They split us into two groups. The first half are needed at the registers to check out and bag the families groceries. I was in the group that stocked shelves. Stocked everything to proteins (meats, chicken, fish), vegetables, soda (pop), nuts, canned goods and anything that is shelves need refills. Thank goodness the warehouse had air conditioning. But I love their market! Very open, spacious and shelves are well organized. They keep it super clean. We worked a good three hours and it was worth it. Not only did I give back to the community, I was able to engage and got to know my employees better. At the end, I was tired. I haven't done physical labor since my younger years but I had so much fun and it was worth it. I would definitely do it all over again. I love what this organization stands for.

The groceries are limited by family not by number of people in your family then in the end they bag everything up for you. You can come once a month and I think it's an amazing resource for people who are struggling or who are trying to get back on their feet.

It is the best place to volunteer sporadically and they have a lot of open availability. This year I wanted to do something for my birthday, giving back to the community and I was able to organize an event for my friends to get together and do. It was amazing. We hung candy on Christmas trees for A-Kid-Again. And they were nice enough to throw in a tour of the grounds as well, which made it even more special.

There was quite a bit of home decor. I found some of the items were definitely overpriced compared to other thrift stores. But I still ended up getting a good deal on a couple of pairs of shoes. The day that I was in there they had a buy one get one free shoes and I paid $3 for two pair of shoes. Probably be worth another look at some point.

She had appointments and procedures scheduled every day for a week, and being able to stay so near the hospital was great! I was blown away with RMH! They have thought of and provided everything a family could need while away from home whether for a short term or a long term stay. The house can serve over 170 families, is clean and inviting, and has the happiest staff around. We were met with smiles and encouragement at every turn. The rooms are well outfitted and in good repair. There are activities throughout the day for both parents and children. We used the arts and crafts room, the toy room, the indoor playground, the outdoor playground, the exercise room, the library, and the laundry area. My granddaughter loved the therapy dogs that came to visit. We were served lunch and dinner each day and breads and cereals for breakfast. There was a large family kitchen area that was fully stocked if you wanted to cook your own meal. All of this was provided at no cost to the family. After experiencing this place with my family, I can tell you that I will be an avid supporter of RMH and the services provided to families with children needing medical attention. This is truly love in action.

They are currently $35.99 and $30.99, respectively, on Amazon. What great deals! I'm so glad that I came! And, the employees are the nicest people. The manager was nice enough to wait past the closing time for me to get everything that I needed. I told her that I was just stopping in and would come back to get what I needed, but, she told me not to rush and the young lady that helped me take my supplies to my car was so sweet. Take advantage of the map that is included in the brochure. I had no idea what I might have missed because it was impossible for me to keep track of where I'd been. I did buy a three-day pass. Summerfair is a great annual art show! You can easily spend an entire day (or more - it goes for…read morethree days) enjoying the sights. There is a wide variety of artwork that covers a lot of areas, including photography, jewelry, sculpture, and more. There are several hundred artists who are accepted, so there is a lot to see. But if that's not enough, they also offer a variety of programming, including music and a fun kids area, plus a lot of options for good eating. I have attended several years now (they are almost at 50 years of holding the event!), and have enjoyed each time. I have purchased several items that I still enjoy today, including a pair of earrings from several years ago that remains one of my favorites. My most recent visit was this year's, and it was as fascinating as ever. I had the opportunity to get into some fun conversations with a few artists, and it was neat to learn about their processes for creating their art. Location is at Coney Island, and parking is included in the ticket price. Although a lot of artists have started using Square to more easily accommodate credit card purchases, I would still recommend bringing some cash, particularly for the ticket booth.
