I have reason to believe you are currently running the WPM sports and social Club. I would like to make an official complaint regarding a member of your staff. On Thursday the 6th July at approximately 11pm. I was verbally assaulted by a member of your staff and felt physically threatened. I was sat in the smoking area outside of the club having a quiet drink with your son. Andy Trowern when a member of your staff. Laura Jones came out to have a cigarette. She noticed me and Andy having our drink and didn't not say anything at that present time. She finished her cigarette and went back inside the club. A few minutes later she came out and was verbally abusive towards myself. Andy then stood up in my defence. Laura has had an on going conflict with my best friend Kayleigh Lewis. She then decided to turn her anger of the situation towards myself. This is victimising me and in a practice where you are working in a face to face situation with customers you should not be permitted to use personal reasons to then abuse members of the public. This is not acting in a professional manner. Laura then said I must finish my drink and leave the premises. Andy continued to defend me stating that I had done nothing wrong and that her issues with Kayleigh was nothing to do with myself. Things started to get heated as she began to shout, scream and stood in your sons face in a threatening manner. Whilst may I add we where completely calm. I stood up to defuse the situation and it was at this point Laura grabbed my drink and threw it out of the glass across the floor. I stated to her that the drink was paid for and I'd like a refund. She then became more abusive towards us. It was at this point we decided things clearly couldn't be resolved so we would leave on our own accord. As went headed towards the gates of the property to leave. Laura then launched the glass at us resulting in it smashing at our feet and leaving me with several small cuts to my ankles. This as you are fully aware is assault. This behaviour is not on by staff towards paying customers of the club. I have decided to write to you asking for you to deal with this matter as I now feel vulnerable and threatened to come into the club. She also stated through her screaming she was bar management and as you are fully aware this is not appropriate behaviour for management to act and she is also in breach of health and safety throwing the glass at us. I will give you the opportunity to sort this matter and check the cctv before I go to the police and take this matter further to Gosport borough council. I have been made aware that your club is committing a breach of your license and have already obtained your clubs reference number. 11/0002/LAPREC. Of which I will follow through with a full complaint. I believe 7 days is a reasonable amount of time for you to process my complaint and make sure appropriate action is taken. If I do not here from you by the 15th July 2017. I will have no other choice but to take this matter further. Many thanks Kimberley Rowland

The function hall is pretty standard-looking, with a stage for which many people hire bands. The bathrooms are fairly clean, and the social club is located right next to Fratton train station, which is handy for cheap transport. The staff here are friendly, but if you're looking for a posh night out and are dressed to the nines, head elsewhere.

My sister booked it for her wedding reception ~ she was on a very restricted budget so I offered to do the decorations etc for her. We visit the venue a couple of times from London and on both occasions the 'trustees' were very helpful but.... it was an unmitigating disaster when we actually arrived. Everything that the 'trustees' had verbally agreed to prior to the wedding, particularly with us as party planners, became an issue for debate. Contracts were quoted (a single side of A4 paper) and we were prevented from continuing with our plans as had been agreed ~ they did eventually agree that we could provide food (remember this is now the night before the wedding!) but we had no storage space, no access to hot or cold water. We were not able to provide our own bubbly, so no drinks on the table ~ they did agree to one glass each as a reception drink. To cap it all they closed the bar early which was not well received by the groom! Like I say... think very carefully... they were more than helpful before the event and although not an ideal venue they certainly seemed willing to work with us but at the time they closed ranks and NO WAY! They need to sort out which one of the Trustees is actually responsible for room bookings etc as each determined that they were more senior that the other and they seemed to make the rules up as they went along ~ not a pleasant experience!

Politics apart, if this club had to survive in the real commercial world it would not stand a chance. The adage that the customer is always right has one very big exception, and that is when the customer starts dictating what happens and when and with who and why. When this starts to happen, the place is then being run by the minority for the minority, and this is when real customers start to drift away; as was evident by the lack of customers on a prime night. A few cans of lager in the local graveyard on a cold and rainy night is preferable to this sad place.
