But Baodi? Baodi taught -- not just lectured. His teaching style actually made the concepts click in my brain like Tetris pieces. He broke things down in a way that made even the most intimidating material (I'm looking at you, Earned Value formulas) feel like common sense. But more than that, Baodi cared. When I was overwhelmed and freaking out over the test, he stayed behind after class just to encourage me, calmly talk me through it, and give me solid pointers. That's the kind of human he is. What really stuck with me during the exam (besides Baodi's voice in my head saying "READ. THE. QUESTION.") was when he told me: Remember your why. That moment hit me hard. My why? My husband. My kids. The people I love and the reason I push through the hard stuff. Thanks to Baodi, I passed the exam -- but more importantly, I've become a better project manager in real life. I'm not just applying what I learned to hypothetical case studies anymore. Baodi focused on what was important in each domain and not only focused on what to study but also what type of questions you would expect and how to handle each question type?.Also, he walked us though how to properly apply for the exam on the PMI website. Boadi kept the course fresh and the class engaged, using examples from his work experience intertwined through throughout the course. I was mentally prepared on how to study for the RMP exam and was able to pass the exam on the first try. Once again, I recommend not prepping for the exam on your own and taking Baodi's course.

This is a 12-16 wk course taught by Texas A & M agri life extension office. They operate in…read moreconjunction with San Antonio Botanical gardens. They offer this class twice a year. It always fills up & always has a waitlist. You must apply only twice a year between Jan- Feb for spring session & Aug- sept for fall. The cost is roughly $220 & includes materials.At the end of the semester & after completed volunteer hours, you will attain certification as a master gardener. I have been going three weeks so far & out of the 3 speakers, 2 have been very beneficial. Mostly taught by professors or past aggies working in the fields. Very knowledgeable people. You are given a manual with chapters that coordinate w/ syllabus. You are required to perform 50hrs of volunteer work to be completed within a year of graduation to fulfill certification requirements. Most of those hours are done in the dirt :) Refer to the picture I added, for an idea of the topics, hours & syllabus. The community of master gardeners has been very welcoming, even if I am the youngest by maybe 15 years. They also pair interns with a mentor. These folks show up at all kinds of gardening shows, the Folklife Fest, farmers markets, Fiesta events, and other hip places around town to be. They show off their skills with their plants- they sometimes sell plants that they've expertly grown. They're really at these events to answer questions about your plants, and help you grow. They've been at SAWS events advocating how to grow butterfly friendly shrubs, or teaching people how xeriscaping can reduce water consumption. In all, they're really not there to sell you on things, they're there to help you grow your garden! I've approached them with pictures of bugs on my phone that have been causing problems, and they came up with the bug species, and how to get rid of them easily (A lil' soapy water! Who'd of thunk it?!) I've never tried to get educated to the level of these guys. They're horticultural black belts, as far as I'm concerned. Kudos to Bexar County Master Gardeners!

The first time I sent an inquiry, I got a brief response and an attached enrollment form. I sent a "reply all" follow-up email with a few more questions about the classes and so far, weeks later, out of all the recipients on that email, NO ONE has replied. Nobody. Here I am, wanting to learn, willing to pay (SEFLA is not cheap) and no one wants to answer or take my money! So, although I haven't actually attended any classes there, I don't see this behavior as being very professional, and I can't imagine them being any better if I were to hire them to teach me. In the meantime, I've found another language school in another state that gets great reviews for teaching languages virtually AND is cheaper.

I was offered the opportunity to update the very entry level certifications as I began my tenure. I was already preparing the mock-lecture I would need to submit as a teaching candidate. Then this opportunity was snatched away with the send-off that I was unqualified. When I inquired further, I was summarily dismissed and told to come back when I had completed the qualification. I later discovered, by speaking directly to the hire, that the job was given to a white student. I cordially asked him to share his experience. He detailed the exact certifications I was told I needed, and had held for years. Finally, I asked this man, fresh into the industry and confronting the certifications for the 1st time, if he already had his certifications. To which he replied that he was allowed to complete them after taking the job. Naturally I saved every record of this interaction. This company is a bullshit organization, which, in addition to apparently being populated by racists, has no problem failing its promises in supporting a student, contrary to what was stated as their supporting role in my education. Calls and emails that went unanswered for weeks, repeated inquiries left unresolved with no follow-up, people who support you leaving the company with no announcement or handoff of the students they support, and their issues, to other staff .... But if half of what's claimed in the self-congratulatory jerk-circle on LinkedIn is true, then one bad review shouldn't matter anyway. Clearly the possibility of a bad report was not of importance when I needed aid.

They LACK expressiveness and HEAVILY restrict their students from being themselves. For this review, I will not be documenting my experiences with the paranormal (yes, I talk to dead people) but instead reviewing my alma mater, Health Careers High School (HCHS), a magnet NISD school with an emphasis on the medical profession. The mission of HCHS is to prepare students for an occupation in the healthcare field as well as to strive for career and educational excellence. In addition to standard curriculum (math, social studies, etc.), students attend courses focused on medical topics such as medical surgical technology and dentistry. I say "standard" curriculum, but the courses are significantly more rigorous than ones offered at regular public schools; the staff treats students like mature, career-minded adults. The classes are also small (about twenty students per teacher), allowing for personalized, hands-on instruction and classroom discussions. I developed my passion for writing due in part to two English instructors. My sophomore English teacher allowed me to write a thirty-page biography of David Bowie, my all-time favorite performer. It was less a biography and more a discussion of the covert (and sometimes not-so-covert) Occult symbolism prevalent in Bowie's oeuvre, but my instructor considered it a "masterpiece" (her word) and shared it with the entire class. That same year, my creative writing instructor was enthusiastic about a story I wrote called "Don of the Dead," a droll, tongue-in-cheek pastiche of "The Godfather" and zombie movies. I cite these examples because I doubt most public school teachers would be receptive to such outre topics. The medical-focused courses are especially interesting. As a junior, I spent part of my day scrubbing soiled medical instruments in the decontamination unit of a nearby hospital. Picking off bits of bloody human sinew from scalpels and surgical drills might sound off-putting to some (well, most), but it was educational and appealed to my morbid curiosity. In my senior year, I qualified to assist in an open-heart surgery at the Audie Murphy VA Hospital. I was extremely nervous (and felt like Doogie Howser, M.D.), but it was an experience unique to HCHS and one I will never forget. Unfortunately, the acceptance policy has shifted from one based on merit (i.e, exemplary attendance and grades) to one based on a lottery. My concern is that the most qualified applicants might be overlooked, hence my four-star rating. Regardless, if your child has expressed an interest in the healthcare field, then encourage him or her to apply here. Even if your child ends up pursuing a career other than medicine (like I did), he or she will still benefit from a superior education.
