No customer support. Very impersonal. No reception... just computer check in, weird and cold

On Monday, March 3rd, 2025, at 1:10 PM, I had an appointment at Quest Diagnostics. My lab technician, Donna, was shockingly rude for no apparent reason. This was my first time at this location, as I'm new to the state and the area. From the start, I felt unwelcome. When she asked me to sign to verify my name, I noticed the insurance information was incorrect. I simply asked for clarification, but her response was dismissive: "You're not signing for that; you're signing for your name." I sat there, confused--how does that make sense when the insurance is listed right next to my name? But I let it go and signed, just to move forward with the process. When I brought it up again, hoping for a clearer explanation, she repeated the same robotic response, offering no real answer. At that point, I didn't even have the energy to press further. After finishing in the bathroom, I returned to find her back turned to me. Without so much as looking in my direction, she said flatly, "You can go. Your provider will receive your labs in a few days." She remained absorbed in whatever she was listening to or watching on her phone. I forced a polite, "Okay, have a blessed day," as I put on my jacket and walked out, but inside, I felt disheartened. It's so disappointing when people take on jobs that require interacting with others yet treat those they serve with such indifference, as if we're a burden rather than human beings. This location doesn't have a receptionist, and the phone number leads nowhere--so if you have issues, you're completely on your own. Honestly, I'd rather drive 30 to 45 minutes elsewhere if it means being treated with basic respect. No one should have to feel like a nuisance just for asking a question. read more

Dealing with Quest aka pest. Easy to pay for tests, then comes the hassle. My latest Quest saga was this week. Years ago I went to the Westchester location but it has closed permanently. Fast forward to 2023, the Greenwich location closes at 4pm, delayed by bad traffic, so headed over to the Stamford office only to be denied. No receptionist, doors all locked, no bathroom access. A young man in the waiting area sees my frustration and says "Welcome to late stage capitalism..." I smile and say "welcome to watching me walking away..." Healthcare and stress make for a toxic combo; it's not like this everywhere. Long wait times, difficulty with access and impersonal environments - not user friendly. Disappointing. read more

Absolutely rude staff. I came in for a pre employment drug test on 3/5/25. . I told the woman Donna that I didn't have to pee yet even though I've been drinking a bunch of water. Well you knew what you were coming in for, why don't you have to pee yet? What? Are you serious. She was so absolutely rude and condescending. If you're having a bad day or know that you hate dealing with the public, please choose another profession. Stop taking your anger out on the public. Donna needs to be retrained on how to speak to people. I'm literally sitting here in tears because of how she spoke to me. I can't even pee yet because I'm so nervous. Quest please do better. Wow, I see so many bad reviews. Here's another one. Every time I go to this place, it turns out bad. I try to learn from the previous experience, thinking I could make it better. But nope, the rules change every time. I'm a US Navy Veteran, the Stamford VA sends us here as it's right across the street. I always make an appointment before arriving, I usually show up 15 minutes early for everything in life, that's just me. So, about a year ago, I showed up about 15 minutes before my appointment. I checked in on the kiosk as the signs says, I sit and wait. An hour goes by, then they call me only to find out they cannot service me as it's passed 11:30 a.m. My appointment was for 11 a.m., I got here around 10:45. So it was not my fault, but still, I was told to make a new appointment. Jump forward a year later, yesterday (10/28/2024). I again had an appointment for 11 a.m., I again got there about 10:45 a.m. I again checked in on the kiosk and sat and waited, as it was approaching 11:30 a.m., I knocked on the door. No staff opened it, as another customer was exiting, I entered the unlocked door. A staff member made eye contact, so I said "good morning, may I ask a question?" She said one minute, she then came back a few seconds later and asked how she could help. I proceeded to try and tell her I'm a Veteran and she cut me off, lol. She asked my name and told me to follow her, which I did. She started explaining what I did wrong, I'm all open to listening and learning. As I wasn't understanding, I tired to ask a question. But, she would not listen to my question. So I'm not sure how I was suppose to learn, lol. Anyway, here's another review saying the staff was rude. I will be updating the VA (again), asking for them to change where they send us. We'll see how that goes. read more

I was sent to Quest Diagnostics to do some blood work for my vaccination statuses. The parking area is huge and plenty. There were only three cars when I arrived. There are no signs outside but if you use GPS, you can find the building easily. The lobby is fairly open and nearly empty. It's just a room with two kiosks, about 5 chairs, and a tv advertising their own company, showing the weather, and who has an appointment. There is no desk and no employees up front. It was a little odd waiting for an appointment without signing in with a person. I had showed up on time and signed in via text message while walking in. There was no one in the lobby and no one else on the list. I saw my name on the screen and waited. It said I had less than 2 minutes before I got called in. Well, the appointment list disappeared and I was never called in. I resigned in on the kiosk and again, my name showed up but was listed as "walk-in." I was a little scared that no one was showing up. After waiting 10 minutes, I was finally called in. The nurse was friendly and nice. I sat down to give blood samples. She couldn't find my vein on my left arm and it was uncomfortable having her move the needle inside my arm. After a good minute or two, she tried my other arm. Mind you, doctors have difficulty finding my veins. This is every doctor I've met. So it's not her, this is normal for me. Anyway, she was able to get a vein on the arm and it went smoothly. The procedure itself is quick and you're out within 15 minutes or less. I would go back here again to get tested on other things if I needed. read more

I go there every 6 months. The last two reservations I made online - but they did not show up in their system when I arrived. The lady who took my blood was so annoyed with the patients and her day - she was rude and unprofessional and left me with (both arms) black and blue bruises. The staff here are curt, uninformative, unhelpful, and aspire only to waste the patient's time. There is no urgency to perform tests, and they default to asking people to come back on another day. They performed 0 tests during the 30min I was in the waiting room, when finally the staff popped out of the door to curtly say: "we can't take any of you" and quickly closed the door again before anyone could understand why or what to do. No questions allowed. Quest is lucky they are a monopoly in this area. read more

Appointments have become meaningless. I waited 40 minutes past my appointment to be called this time . I was not alone. The waiting room was packed with overdue appointments and walking. Some walk-ins get instant priority, e.g. VA patients. That's good, but Quest needs to factor those into their scheduling. I was shown as 6 minutes to wait on their screen for more than 20 minutes. My wife wants me to try another location or lab - so do I. No reflection on the work of the staff in performing the tests. read more

Even now, with the extreme patient testing load they are professional, prompt, and patient-centered. Shanika M. is true asset. She is very well educated, has sympathy for her patient's and is quick and reliable. So brought my daughter today for some blood work. She is 15yo and only weights 95lbs. With chronic medical issues. I was skipped by someone who came after me and when I finally was called I was standing in the room with my kid for 30mints. I have no idea what the guy that was "taking care" of us was doing.. after he finally comes in, it took an additional 10-15 mints to input the information into the system even though I had already done it out side. Finally he starts looking at her arms for the blood work and decides to use her wrist!! The back of her wrist!. For anyone that has never done this or gotten it done on that area, it is extremely painful on a grownup with a normal body weight, since skin is very thin and the tendons are right there!. Most phlebotomist wouldn't go there for a pt my daughter's age and weight unless they're in a hospital setting. Fine! She really needed it and he said that the only being he can use, he proceeded to use a STRAIGHT needle on that area and then yelled at my daughter "stay still you have a needle in your arm". A kid? equals a butterfly needle A skinny kid or even adult!? Equals a butterfly needle Anywhere on the hand!? Equals a butterfly needle!! Why he thought that was a good idea I'm not sure. Now my daughter is in a lot of pain and I'm considering taking her to the er if it gets worst!. I'm so upset! read more

Whatever you do, avoid this place. They lost my daughter's lab results. They didn't file the claims and we keep getting huge bills that were incorrect. I spent hours on the phone with my insurance company trying to rectify the situation. Total incompetence and a huge inconvenience for us! Pushed back our wait time to find out results during the holidays, months later. Go elsewhere!!! read more

I had such an awesome experience at Quest! My appointment was extremely prompt, and I had absolutely no wait time. The true star was my nurse! I'm not sure of her first name, however I know her last name is Grant. She was incredible! I let her know that I typically have really harsh reactions to blood draws, and that I almost always either faint and/or vomit. She was so nurturing, talked me through every step, and even gave me a stress ball to squeeze. I really appreciated her energy and it was the best blood draw i've ever had! The Quest lab at 1250 Summer Street in Stamford has great hours. I walked in on a Friday morning before a holiday weekend with no appointment around 7am and I was in my car leaving in less than 30 minutes! (I thought it might be packed so I felt like I really lucked out in that regard.) There was only one person ahead of me. However, the real win was that Jackie (Jacquie?) was a pro. I have difficult veins but with her expertise I can say I enjoyed a quick and painless draw. I am so grateful! Thank you! read more

Not only was I a "walk-in", I'm terrified of needles and it showed on my face. Donovan took care of EVERYTHING from a quick check-in, short wait and talked me through taking my blood. His personality was polite, welcoming and professional. He talked about food from the islands to the holiday dishes. I sat there for a few extra minutes only for him to tell "me you've been done"...lol...but I'm welcome to stay...lol. A gentleman like that really helped ease the anxiety I was experiencing. The male reception person could not be more unfriendly or rude if he tried. Not a hello, smile or anything. He was abrupt and seemed angry. Thank goodness he was not the person who drew my blood. A person with such a miserable attitude should not be in healthcare of any capacity! I had a scheduled drug test here. They are supposed to give you 4 minutes in the bathroom. After 90 seconds they were already knocking on the door, amking me more nervous. They are supposed to give you the full 4 minutes. They are packed with people and simply don't care. Use another lab if you dont want to be rattled while giving a urine specimen. read more

Horrible. Got here early to get blood draw before work. Receptor only checks in people one at a time as they finish drawing blood. We all sit and wait. Slow. Slow. Slow. Late for work. Nothing to read. Dirty walls. Receptionist talking about how she's not focused has cramps. Yuck. read more

I am here at the lab trying to get my blood work done. I came an hour before another doctor's appointment I have, and I am going to have to leave now because they still Have people here that came way before me. They see one person at the time and they take for ever to see the next patient. What I don't understand is why no one do anything about it after reading all this Bad reviews? Quest lab don't care about people who come to their lab and what are their bad experiences here? I waited my all morning and I am leaving now. I have been going to this Quest Lab (on Summer Street) for the past couple of years for routine tests and it has always been a pretty good experience. However, when I went for a blood draw in Jan. 2020, there were several new faces and the entire back area of exam rooms smelled of cigarettes. It was like having my blood drawn in a smoker's lounge. It was unsettling and felt very unsanitary. As much as I used to like this lab location, I will not be going back anytime soon. read more

This is the best Quest location in Fairfield county. This is the only place where I have gotten blood drawn on the first stick every.single.time. Docking one star because the tech who did the draw didn't change her gloves after patient intake (she touched the computer in the front and went straight into the draw room drawer with the same gloves)- which is kinda gross, ngl. The waiting room is kind of drab and the building it is located in is nothing special. Been there twice for routine blood draws and the Phlebotomists are very friendly and everything went pain free. We had the worst experience with my 2 year old at the quest Diagnostics at Summer St, Stamford CT. First, the nurses there didn't know how to read the prescription, they were chatting with each trying to figure out, after they. called the doctor so he explained it to them. I thought we were in good hands and they knew what they were doing. After they couldn't find the vain. The first nurse put the needle and yelled for help so the other nurse could come and find the vain. The second nurse comes with all attitude, takes my child's arm and put the rubber and asked me if she should try finding the vein in the other arm. So I gave the ok, she grabbed the arm and did it so hard that my child couldn't stop crying. It is sad to see these nurses have no compassion toward a 2 year old baby. It was the worst day for all of us and I would never go back to this place. They should never take responsibility (especially on a 2 year old) if they are not sure to do the job. I was super impressed with Quest on Summer Street. I have Vasovagal syncope, which means I often pass out when blood is drawn. When I went in last week Shanika Mitchell listened to my concerns, let me lie down, and did a quick and painless job of drawing my blood. I did not pass out! I just got my blood taken and before I went I made the mistake of reading the reviews people wrote. I had an appointment at 10:30am and I was worrying that I had to wait long and that the people working there were rude. I am really scared of needles but people there made me feel safe and welcome. Since I made an appointment I only waited 10 minutes, Donavan made me feel relaxed and I was done in 5 minutes.
