I had a paper copy of the doctor's orders, made the appointment ahead of time, and had a very pleasant experience overall in the facility. SIX WEEKS AGO. I hhave since received bills for my copayment. Yet today, you can imagine my surprise when my doctor said he has not received the test results! I checked online and apparently THEY ARE STILL PROCESSING THE TESTS!!! I collected my urine for 24 hours, (which is a pain in the butt for a woman) but WHY If you had no intention of processing it ??? Please explain. And also tell me HOW this is MY FAULT? First time here. Recommend getting there early because the line starts to build and place fills up. There is no receptionist, you checkin via 2 tablets in the waiting area and they call you first come first serve. During my visit they were quick and friendly, no complaints! They open at 7:30am and I got there around 7:15am and stood in line. 3 people ahead of me but soon the line was more than 10 people deep and by the time I got done with my bloodwork there were people standing. read more

Omg! What a great experience I had here. The wait was not long, their updated with the latest technology, and they have the sweetest phlebotomists ever! Denise was the one who drew the blood and Sandy stayed with me and talk to me during the procedure as people with anxiety tend to faint during blood test. Like me, me hands sweat. I have veins you could drive a truck through. There's no reason I should have been bruised this badly. It hurt when the needle went in and for an hour afterwards. This bruise is 2 1/2 inches long. The technician needs to be retrained to be more gentle. When I complained that it hurt, she said, "Oh, we can stop and do the other arm." I had blood work done at a different Quest location last week and you could barely see where the needle went in and it didn't hurt. It's tough to get excited about a trip to a medical laboratory where you're asked to sit patiently until it's your turn to get up and donate bodily fluids. That being said, I do appreciate the professionalism and efficiencies shown by the folks who work at this branch of Quest Diagnostics up in Carrollwood. Their clinic is located in the middle of a strip mall along N. Dale Mabry, just south of the intersection with Ehrlich Road. You'll find Quest sandwiched in between Nutrition S'mart and Michael's. The lab is open Mon - Fri from 7:30am - 4pm, and on Saturdays from 8am - 12 Noon. It is HIGHLY recommended that you make an appointment ahead of time via their website, but you can take a stab at just walking in and waiting. My insurance company covers the testing fees if I have my lab work done at Quest, and so my physician writes out a script, I make the appointment, and off I go to see the vampires. By making the appointment ahead of time, the wait is minimal. One lady checks over my insurance information and the doctor's orders, and then I move too the back waiting area for my technician. On a good day, the whole process is over and done inside of 30 minutes. The technicians are professional and friendly. but not overly chatty. They line up the sample collection vials, do their thing with the big scary needles, and then send you on your way. It's not my favorite way to start the day, but I do appreciate getting in and out with a minimum of hassle. read more

When I arrived I was told that my insurance was accepted at this location and reassured that I would not receive a bill besides a copay from my insurance. I received a bill for over $500, when I spoke to customer service supervisor MILLIE H., she argued with me repeatedly and would barely let me get a word in telling me that the phlebotomist should not have answered those kind of questions, but would not work with the billed amount AT ALL. They see people as they choose. Not in order of sign in. 2ppl before me got called in before me as I waited for 35+ minutes. I signed in w a lady w extremely broken English that nobody understood her. Luckily I did. The rest of staff did not speak much English at all. Best of all I walked up, asked if they accepted my insurance, she stated a big YES. I came to be seen . (after the other ladies were unfairly called ahead of my turn) and the secretary gets my info in computer, twice because she doesn't speak or type much English - then tells me they do NOT accept my insurance after all. This morning I was scheduled a fasting blood test at Quest (9 a.m.) on 14831 N Dale Mabry. I am a 74-year-old disabled vet coming off of 2.5 years of chemo. My age coupled with my two cancer battles has negatively impacted my cognitive abilities at times particularly when feeling pressured. I was escorted to room 4 where another lady was present; I was told to sit in the chair - was asked my address, which I gave and then asked who my doctor was. I drew a blank, frustrating for sure but exacerbated as I was repeatedly told I cannot have the test without the doctor's name. I finally replied that the name should be in your system - they responded by saying there were two names but again without me identifying the doctor no test would be done. I felt dumb, frustrated and certainly helpless as I told them I have a multitude of test coming up for cancer screening follow-up and a surgery pre-op, which has me confused. These young ladies were of no help, showed no compassion, understanding or concern for my situation. I finally got up, grabbed my stuff, and walked out without testing. I expect more consideration from a healthcare organization then I was shown. read more

This morning at Quest was the worst. It is a Saturday and I arrived around 945am. The last time I came on a Saturday morning I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Not this time. I walked in and both waiting rooms were packed and more people just kept arriving. As I was waiting, some twenty something girl was taking selfies, acting stupid and muttering sexually explicit things as she was taking videos. Seriously now? You are at a lab to get your blood drawn and you think this is an opportunity for social networking. So after about half an hour, said girl starts pacing the waiting room, invading peoples personal spaces and looking at the iPad for registration while people were signing in. HIPAA violation right there. She did this for a good half an hour to 45 minutes, annoying everyone in the waiting room. The staff could not be bothered to ask her politely to please remain in her seat and stop disrupting the other people waiting. Quest, you should have those iPads in kiosks, not out in the open for the world to see. Anyway, an hour passes and everyone who came in long after me was called back, drawn and gone. Not me. I ended up waiting an hour and a half, and was the last person to be called even though MANY others came in after I had arrived. On the check-in screen, it shows everyone in the waiting room their wait time and whether or not they had an appointment. None of the people who came in after me had an appointment, they were all walk-ins like I was and furthermore, the wait times on the screen were completely wrong. Mine said 22 minutes. Nope, not even close. I would have been happy to wait 22 minutes. So, finally I get called. The male phlebotomist was very nice. He did a very quick, easy and painless stick. Ended up bruising anyway. I asked both the receptionist and the phlebotomist what their protocol was for managing patient queues and neither of them had a clear cut answer. The receptionist used the excuse of "Someone called out and we are under staffed". I'm sorry, but as a fellow healthcare professional, you NEVER tell patients that you are understaffed. Unfortunately, Quest is the only place I can go that takes my insurance, so I will have to go there next time I need lab work. Highly disappointed and totally put me in a fowl mood to kick off my weekend. Quest, you need to get your act together and ensure adequate staffing, especially during the weekends when a majority of people are off. read more
